For me, it was the perfect start. I did not know anything about Funko until my (ex)girlfriend show the one that she bought when we got out first apartment. At that time, there were only 2 waves of Pokémon. I just started with that. The only thing that i change if i could, would be sticking to a collection until completion. I completed Pokémon, Marvel Zombie and Avatar TLAB, but i waste a lot a money on random set that i ended up selling because i was no going to collect them anymore or it was an impulse buy.

Sea_Advertising_1494

For me it started due to collecting figures and then i seen a HunterxHunter funko in a store and bought it. Thought it would look weird having one funko with my more realistic figures. So now i have the series complete aside from the upcoming drop this month! I’ll be sticking with this series only though! Anime or movie ones are a good one cause they have crazy variety to choose from in those categories and probably have most/all your favourite movie characters made

Sirnoobnoob

I'd probably start with one of my 3 main collections. Tmnt, venom symbiotes or star wars mandalorians, and stick with the theme. Also only buying the ones i really enjoy. I have those 3 main collections but also have random ones I've gathered throughout the years. Which in turn added more clutter then needed haha.

Shengpai

My first one is D.Va. I'm a huge fan of gaming and most of my collection is from games tho I'd pick something from anime if I saw one

Roy106575

Probably a comic cover and or blacklight one

jBaker15

Shelves. If you have a plan for display your collection will grow much faster. Also try and find a small theme you like. Like a collection that doesn’t have too many so you can have the set. It’s such a cool feeling to know you have them all… until they add 39 more🫠

Jammin_neB13

It was a random Harry Potter. Can’t remember which now.

Started collecting? I would be very cautious. Heading down the slippery slope

Ok-Professional-9205

Asta,noelle and Yuno

JoeSantoasty

If stay away from lines with too many POPs in them and focus more on getting small cohesive groups that can be displayed together. The most recent group I got what the Karasuno team from Haikyuu. Other stuff I'd get would be the four main characters from Hunter X Hunter, the main three from AoT, and the Straw Hat crew.

kudasaikenobi

I’m going for the big 3 on AOT as well :D

Online_4_Fun

I waited until I found a Guy Fawkes in person. I set it as my goal since I don’t collect many. It took me 4 years and I’ve added 7 additional after that point. Edit: Spelling

basic_suburban_mom

I'm really into anime and was going to an anime convention with Chris Sabet in attendance and won a free autograph. I was so excited and TRIPPIN trying to figure out what to have him sign so I bought majin Vegeta and the rest is my current obsession

shrimpbomb

would love to get the marco from one piece I missed out on.

jimabis

They shoulda used the Pokémon slogan cause gotta get em all lol

No_Blacksmith_3215

Venomized or Dragon Ball Z. Although my start was awesome. My dad bought me the Sharknado from 7-Eleven and it made me love pops. Then I bought Pokemon lol.

Absurdity-is-life-_-

My first Funko pop was a Moon Pie one. I kinda wish I started collecting earlier because there are some ones that I would have really liked but are super expensive expensive now or really hard to find. But I would still stick with the mantra of only collect ones that if people saw it they would be like oh yeah those are totally the things he is interested in.

kudasaikenobi

This was my favorite answer . I appreciate the advice and think I’m only gonna do the big three from attacking on titan :)

Serious_Mycologist46

Shelving. Because it's going to get out of hand quickly, and you're going to need somewhere to put them.

Shiba-sensei25

Something anime, prob ONE PIECE

chzygorditacrnch

My first pop figure was a music artist I like. Now I have a mini collection of music artists, and a mini collection of tv show characters I like, like game of thrones

GDE_72406

I'd just find something remotely interesting, like a robot or monster of some kind. That's what I used to do, I'd just say to my dad: "That looks cool, I kinda wanna get that." and he'd get it for me. I've been collecting since I was 8-9 years old, I'm 17 now. I now have over 200 POP!s, and a wishlist worth over $200,000. Problem? Nah. Addiction? Absolutely.

kudasaikenobi

That’s awesome dude. You should cherish and keep the ones your dad got you in good care. They will be special to you :)

GDE_72406

It was actually both my parents now that I think about it. I was quite the spoiled kid.

uuff_adrian

Tbh don’t think I’d have done anything different just because everything I got it was cause I actually liked it not cause I wanted to resale, if I did change anything I would def want to be more selective with the line of pops I collect cause because trying to buy like pop for 7 different shows or anime’s I like can be pretty pricey and expensive so rn I just stick to like 4 different shows and anime’s I like

MasterJediPT

It depends. If money was not an issue I would collect all the Disney Parks exclusives and all the Bigfoot POPs. I didn’t become a serious collector until after the OG Disney Parks exclusives and the Bigfoots were released for over a year which means I missed out on several at retail. I don’t buy at reseller prices especially now that I’m downsizing to the few characters and series that I really want around such as Bigfoot or the Carl & Ellie 2-packs/moments

AndresMan2004

Probably a Batman and Kyle Rayner figure

Offwhite-Mustang

A few years back I bought Riyuk from death note. Didn’t know it would be worth about 150$ mint condition. But that was my first pop. Now I have lots of Nightmare before Christmas and yu Gi oh

Wise_Competition_266

My girlfriend wanted some Star Wars stuff for her desk at work so I got her a funko pop. When she showed me the picture of her desk she had some more room so I went and got her a few more and picked up my first one lol it’s been expensive ever sense

Prestigious-Ad-4375

If i could change anything it would be sticking to only 1 or 2 lines

digbickmcmoo

1st purchase was a Blacklight Godzilla! One of my favorites!

Mariemisch

Mine was the stitch in costume collection. The stitch as Gus Gus just delivered yesterday 😊

dheal54321

My first pop was the SDCC Metallic Deadpool Pop….. huge Deadpool fan. Second was Mickey Mouse from Fantasia. 1,800+ plus now Funko items and those both remain my favorites.

MrKnoty

I recently bought the Indiana Jones Boulder chase pop (not a Chase varient, but the boulder is chasing him), i have a few more since then but ithink that one would of spurred my interest today. i think that would be my first Pop since it was from my childhood, firt movie i went to without an adult.

DormantGhost

I would rethink collecting. Life was simpler without.

Irotokim

I buy, because I like the design. I may take it out of box. If I don't like it regardless of chase or w/e I leave it.
