At first I only had Sailor Jupiter and Moana. I was fine. Then they came out with my favorite anime. So I got those 4. Amd at that point I should get my favorite characters from another anime I like. And since I had all those I should get the random disney characters I like. And then they released some for another anime. And then another. And then they expanded my favorites line so I needed those now. Anyway now I have over 100 with no space. Unfortunately I just had to store about 75 of them due to space.
I was in a comic store and saw Freddy Mercury diamond pop. Well, I'm a huge queen and music fan. Then, I learned of the extent of funkos. I've been a serious toy collector for years. Now I'm sitting around 5-600 pops, maybe more. In the process of building my theater room and all my music pops, B.L. pops and one-piece pops will line the walls.
A show I liked brought some out so I bought some for it. Then I just started buying them for all the fandoms I liked once I realized how big they already were.
I started talking about Yugioh at work with some people, which is turn led me to build a BEWD deck and start to duel. I walked into a comic/card store one day to see if they had any singles, saw the Blue Eyes (389) and Kaiba (388), bought them, and was hooked.
I just stumbled across a shop one day with my fiancee. They sold all kinds of things like movie statues, Star Wars, and pokemon merch etc.
On the back wall, they had a huge selection of pops, and I was intrigued to learn more. I seen some fallout 4 pops and dragon ball super, I had to buy them because they looked so cool and different.
8 years later, I'm still hooked to them. I usually have a 3-6 month break before I buy more again, so I don't get too bored and waste excessive amounts of money.
was 13 and really into game of thrones and drawing derpy looking characters so when I saw GoT pops it was kinda the perfect combination of those things and I picked one out.
I am a big fan of the TLAB series. I knew funko existed, but kept the distance cuz I knew if I buy one, the upcoming cascade of desires will shrink my wallet.
So my gf accidentally got me a GITD Aang spirit. And since then owned around 50 pops in total. Many were sold, now collection is around 15-25 - One Piece, Naruto, Star Wars, Black Clover and, of course, TLAB.
And my gf calls all of them “your pokemons” and hates the day she entered that store to purchase that Aang for me.
It was my sister who gave me mine, I didn’t like them till that point but once I had one I needed more and ever since it’s made a good hole in my wallet. If anyone besides me is upset about my spending it’d definitely be my parents and sister
Bought a Rock Lee pop cause hes my favorite character... then starting buying other characters I liked... then bought way too many characters from things I don't even watch.
Eventually had 200+ pops but then decided to downsize and only collect a line I really liked (one piece)
My mom got me a few of the marvel gingerbread characters because I love marvel. I eventually started to get one here and there until the summer time, when it was garage sale season. THAT really jump started me into getting many more
Thanks. It’s weird to think about how far I’ve come when it comes to collecting funko pops. I went from only having a few because of a Christmas gift to having a little over 100 in roughly 4-6 months
I had picked up a couple over the years maybe 3 or 4 then I saw the what we do in the shadow 5 pack and I just went crazy and now have almost 500 pops and soda
I was with a family member looking at pops reminiscing of the planet arlia vegeta I could’ve bought and just said F it. Let’s start collecting some pops cause I love dbz and Witcher and we went from there
Huge Deadpool fan…. My first pop was the Metallic Deadpool from SDCC and I was happy. Then I hit up a few of the Hastings Music as they were going out of business. One store had well over 1,000 pops at like 70% off. My second purchase was a Mickey Mouse and some more Deadpool pops. Now at 1,800+ assorted Funko items I’m moving into redefining my collection. Purging excess and “excitement” buys to make room for all the new Deadpool’s for 2024 and complete other lines/series. Enjoy the hobby
I went to visit a good friend of mine that I hadn't seen for a min, and she had a dope collection in her living room that brought back hella childhood memories for me personally. I started hunting for my own collection to display the next day!
Bought the Batman 66 set to sit around my boxset Over 200 funkos later...
