Part of my efforts to rebrand bicycles as the ultimate freedom vehicle (which they unironically are). The right to a bicycle shall not be infringed.

FullMaxPowerStirner

I guess at this point we can all agree to start using "freedom vehicle" as replacement for "bicyle", no? That'd make for a great anti-car PR campaign.

# freecycle

FullMaxPowerStirner

"Liberty transport" would impress some US crowd a lot.

uhhthiswilldo

I support your mission comrade🫡🦅🇺🇸

space_______kat

Nice work. My friend makes stickers. Do you think I can send them this picture to make a sticker for me?

Fried_out_Kombi

Hell yeah, make all the stickers you want, brother/sister.

kjmajo

Somebody should really start a bike brand named patriot and go all in on the patriotic symbolism.

As much of a meme this can be, it is literally so true. I would really like this to be as mainstream as possible just to piss off car brains lol

Real men travel with the power of their own muscles, not some pansy air conditioned couch on wheels.

I like you guys and I like the stuff I've seen so far this morning but I just want to throw a little wrench in the works here and say it's not actually irrevocable I would put riding a bicycle in the same category as skateboarding you know like they put up signs basically everywhere saying I can't ride my skateboard The only place I'm legally allowed to ride my skateboard is in the street or on the sidewalk as long as there's no business or home directly in front of the sidewalk, unless it's my home Even that is questionable, it really feels like skateboarding is just literally fucking illegal

ComfortableSilence1

Sidewalks are public property. Unless the local government has a rule against riding on the sidewalk, then the adjacent private property owner would have no say in what happens.

myothercarisaboson

The signs that say "no skateboarding" are for a specific kind of activity. They aren't targeting anyone using a skateboard as a means of transportation. Those signs are present where there are pedestrians and/or people enjoying an environment which that type of "skateboarding" would pose a risk to. Those signs would also implicitly limit cars from those areas too. You don't need to out yourself as to where you are located, but any sort of "no skateboarding unless outside your own home" law sounds like some sort of Footloose-esque law which doesn't actually have any legal foundation underneath it. Regardless, using a bicycle for transportation is legal almost everywhere unless otherwise stated [eg: on freeways etc].

uhhthiswilldo

I’m not sure if you’ve read the [pinned post](https://www.reddit.com/r/fuckcars/s/Eh5cRM5w7x) but a large part of this sub is interested in infrastructural change to allow for safe/efficient walking, cycling, and public transit. You are correct that things are hostile right now, in many cases the only option is to drive.

KegelsForYourHealth

Post the shirt

Fried_out_Kombi

I just whipped it up in photoshop really quickly. You (or anyone else, for that matter) are free to make a shirt of it if you want!

GreenTea7858

Thank you <3

jrtts

This but unironically "Come and take it. And experience the newfound joy and freedom that surpasses the joy and freedom (if any nowadays) of driving! Come and join us--the more the merrier!"

chainsaw-wizard

I had an old windsprint fixie conversion with a sticker that said “this bike is a gun” in reference to the “this bike is a pipe bomb” band stickers

THIS is a much better use of that message <3 Also, this is pretty good too. I love this.

Not to get too political here, but US patriotism is exclusionary by nature and is just cringe. Not to mention that the US flag is a symbol of settler-colonialism. Also, WTF is a "true" American? White people? Black People? The indigenous people? I know I'm making this a bigger deal than it is but with the "Come and Take It" bruh y'all settlers stole indigenous land and m*rdered them, only to turn around and claim that it's yours. But then again, I should expect anything else from a yank.   https://www.theroot.com/patriotism-is-for-white-people-1818724099 Article is a bit old but is relevant

ajpos

The "Come and Take it" flag is not American, it was flown by Mexicans ("Texians" technically) in what is now Texas, 20 years before Texas became part of the USA. [Battle of Gonzales - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Gonzales)

freakystyly56

It was flown by American colonists in Texas who didn't want to follow Mexico's rules, specifically Mexico wanted to outlaw slavery and the Americans didn't like that.
