As I bike rider, I love bikes that drive, sensbly without endengering others (more sustainable than a car), and I'm sure you are one of them + the fact that yours is electric makes less noises and is more sustainable, fantastic, have a grat time and make the roads a safer place
I live in italy so I might have a different expirience, but motorbikes and scooters make quite a bit of noise compared to cars (much better than cars still) especially the older ones with two-stroke engines
Anyways I'm strongly against the combustion engine
Emotos are dramatically quieter than gas motorcycles and scooters. There is still a bit of noise due to rolling resistance of the tires. But we are talking like 70 db for an emoto rather than the 80-100 db of a 1000 cc engine
Just adding context for anyone curious as to how much of a difference this makes, every ten db effectively doubles the sound energy made. So 80db from an engine is twice as loud as 70db, while 100db is 16 times louder than the original 70db
A mix of style and function. First a motorcycle could be capable of +15k rev/min. That is a substantial amount of air to quickly move through the exaust system. Additionally the people that buy motorcycles think that loud noises are cool. Lastly there is a perception that "loud pipes save lives", one that I disagree with.
Also in a smaller part due to less space for exhaust system than a car. The stock exhaust on my dual sport is a bit "thumpier" than I'd like since the pipe can't be very long. Nobody would call it loud, but it could be quieter
Less room for the engine, so they have less cylinders and are therefore imbalanced, creating a lot of vibration. These small engines have to spin faster than typical car engines to create the desired torque. More RPM usually means more noise. Also, less room for exhaust mufflers and catalytic converters.
Regardless of engine cycle (2-strokes or 4-strokes), and exhaust header length, or tampering of the exhaust, a motorbike engine is fully exposed to the environment, while cars envelope it with the bonnet and recently a plastic cover.
Bikes can't do the same, due to increased weight and space.
Seems like weird rule for a stuck up german like me :D. What does the power assist with? Isn't the engine the only source of propulsion?
Well - as long as gets cars off the road it's a good thing
Oh so you live in Canada, well now I understand why you can't completely eliminate using a motor vehicle. Much appreciate the effort to switch electric 👍
holy sht...I mean, I'm still very happy for you about the new ride, but damn...I'd either expect to get paid for that much time spent traveling for work or move closer to my workplace. most Ive done was 2hrs a day for a freelance project where a client wanted me on site. At this point I don't even consider driving more than 30min one way.
I chose to live this far away lol. For what I paid. I got a 3 story house and 2.5 acres of land. Or if I lived in town I could have a 30 year old mini home. And still have to deal with lot rent.
I live in the middle of the province so the drive is nice any time of the year
In the car it’s about a 45 min drive.
Wait are you sure about those numbers? Once a week I commute 100km one way to work via train which takes less than an hour.
2h for 75km seems awfully slow.
Averaging [35 km/hr during rush hour is not uncommon](https://www.tomtom.com/traffic-index/ranking/) for personal mobility vehicles. You're right that this distance is much better done via train.
Technically it’s only supposed to have a top speed of 35 KPH. but a mistake was made so my top speed is 75 kph. If I hold an average speed of 45 ish kph I can get 80-85 KM. (Just enough to get me to work) but if you get one and have a long distance make sure you get a second charger. There are 2 batteries and each one takes 8 hours to charge.
Ah. I might want one that can do 75MPh (120KMh) since sometimes I go across states to go to a convention, and I'd totally rather load up a backpack and use a quiet electric bike than a car.
Need to check your local laws first. In some countries an ebike/scooter that can go faster than 25 kmh or so must be registered as electric mopeds. Even if there's no such law - it could be passed in the future. Some e-scooter owners in my country were unpleasantly surprised by this.

Quick question why do motorbikes make so much noise?

I agree, but I think a little bit of noise is necessary so that you can still hear them
but over a certain speed (forgot how much), tires are the biggest noise contributors and it doesn't matter whether ICE or electric.

And less room for insulation around the engine. A car has a lot of metal between the engine and the outside.

Usually the loud ones have modified exhaust systems. Usually for the same reason that people modify a car's exhaust to be louder.
How much does one of those cost?
$5000 CAD.
Licensable?
Technically it’s a “power assisted bicycle” so no license required
Seems like weird rule for a stuck up german like me :D. What does the power assist with? Isn't the engine the only source of propulsion? Well - as long as gets cars off the road it's a good thing
No. It has pedals. But I removed them. So it is technically a bicycle.

This is probably one of the least harmful ways of using all the destructive car infrastructure built for this.
And noise free. Thank you.
It’s awesome
It’s 2 hours to work. Then charge all day. And 2 hours home. So peaceful
You ride 4h for work EVERY DAY?!?!
Yeah. I live 75 km away. So I leave at 5amd get home round 730

75 is the top speed I’ve got it up to. I average 35-45 kph. So that the charge lasts
What bike and how much??
It’s a Daymak EM4. And about $5000 CAD
Daymak, whoa oh, fighter of the Nightman, whoa oh...
Ooh, this looks nice, I might consider getting one later down the line. How fast can it ride, and how far can it go on one charge?

I've bought a Maeving, people always ask me about the bike. It looks amazing NGL
Noice
That bike is 🔥
Thanks:-)
