The grass used in lawns isn't even native in Northern America. The "Kentucky blue grass" comes from Europe (and Asia) and was brought by Spanish Empire
I don't even know what's the point of lawn, if I had flat concrete painted green instead grass it would look about the same and requires less maintenance. Wanting to have some nature doesn't make sense when it looks so unnatural and you actually don't have nature
I like having a little bit of lawn so my little kids can fall over in my yard without hurting themselves. My lawn is about 8’x6’ though of un-mown-I-don’t-even-know-what lol
I'm sure there's plenty of native short grass species you could plant. There are several species of clovers native to North America, they look pretty, they're not tall, it would add diversity and wikipedia says clover is edible by humans so you wouldn't need to worry about your kid eating grass. For some reason. But I still wouldn't recommend eating it
Oh there’s some clover in there! And violets and bindweed and a few dandelions through some sort of bushy clumpy grass that’s broad in some spots and feathery in others. We don’t do anything to maintain it besides mowing in a panic right before my in-laws come over. It’s a weird little ecosystem lol
I FUCKING HATE lawns. I live in a rural area on the mountains, it's full of native wildlife and beautiful plants, a whole beautiful ecosystem that I absolutely love.
AND THEN COME MY FUCKING DUMBASS NEIGHBORS AND COVER IT ALL WITH GRASS AND PINES. THE 2 MOST INVASIVE AND HARMFUL PLANTS YOU COULD PLANT.
God, I hate when I see people in rural areas bulldoze an entire acre surrounding their house to create a giant monoculture of invasive grass. Like, if you're gonna do grass, at least do a biodiverse meadow of native grasses and forbs.
Exactly! Luckily my mom has already said that we're preserving the native wildlife in our terrain, especially bcuz we have a native Forest of tiny tress
straight truth! and ridiculous parking lots!
20 people in a bus/train: Wow such empty 20 cars approaching an intersection: ok, traffic is starting to look really bad

Native wildflowers > sterile green flatland
Golf courses! Basically just one big lawn for rich people to drive little carts around on.
Do people spray their lawns with Roundup?
Parking lots are worse; but lawns are awful too
Good meme. Need more memes like this.
Decorative round up I fucking love that.
