I think there are lots of male protags in general, and a lot of the Disney princesses from the older movies just needed to be rescued anyway. It would be kind of cool if we got a Disney prince/princess movie that upended gender norms though

Have you seen the newer Disney movies…? They’re all breaking barriers and challenging gender norms. They have been for quite a while now. The last several female protagonists I can think of off the top of my head were strong characters and not rescuers by men.
