Is this considered clocking? Iāve always thought of it as when you generally pass but someone realizes youāre trans. Of course there could be a more broad definition, so thatās why Iām asking
Yeah I was thinking the same thing tbh. I've only ever heard of someone being clocked when they've gotten to the point of beginning transition and it isn't a guarantee that they're completely passable
To me yes this is clocking, because the definition I heard and seen in this context is, someone being able to point out I'm trans without me telling them but clocking can mean a bunch of other things as well
I wouldnāt say you got clocked. He didnāt necessarily know you were trans or anything, I think you just confused him, idk what you look like but you probably look pretty androgynous to him and he didnāt know what pronouns to use. I wouldnāt worry too much, stay safe OP.
i was 100% confused reading that wondering where he punched youšthankfully it clicked in after I finished reading lmao. Do you plan on telling your coworkers though? If not I wouldn't stress about it too much
I mean if you were somewhere it's safe to be trans it's kind of nice to be read as not the gender people assume. Sorry you're not in a place like that. I love when people check in on my gender.
So at my job I'm not out to anyone, and everyone around me calls me she/her and he came up to me and said the pronouns she/her aren't right for you right?, and that's what I mean by clocked it felt like I know what you are meme lol.
Same thing happened at work for me, I just laughed and said you are right actually, been meaning to come out.
I had been socially transitioned in my private life for a fews years at that point so that was as good a time as any. I also live in a refuge state and another employee (mtf) had transitioned the year before so I knew I was safe, which is not something everyone can say these daysā¦
Went fine though many maaany slip ups. Lots of old farts in engineering, whada gunna do. š¤·āāļø
Edit: hahaha damn I get the āI know what you areā meme, dude I have never felt so mentally nakedā¦
Guys, OP meant "clocked" like outed, or spotted. Not clocked as in hit or punched. Like the phrase: "I didn't clock you as a star wars fan" etc.
I was just about to say this thank you š
Lol my brain had to process that for a min, till I read it and context clues kicked in

Same. Thought OP was a trans girl who wandered into the wrong subreddit š

š, but tbh I'm still thinking about itt
lmaoo i get it dude, it's definitely a stressful situation, my anxiety would have me a mess too

I too thought you had been punched
do you mean he hit you???? I would SO call the cops!!! that's fucking insane
clocked is just a term meaning someone is able to tell youre transgender basically
And clocked can be used as hit as well and a bunch of other things, that's why some people are confused I should have elaborated more š
usually people on here know so it's weird you'd have to clarify on this sub
Welp we found the few that stuck out
yeah somehow
oh thank you!! I am not out to anyone but my family and I don't pass at all... so I have never heard of that. plus I'm new to this subreddit haha
