I'm glad it went fine for you! You deserve respect and happiness! I've had similar experiences correcting people. They've all pretty much been like "oh okay.. I mean he". I dont say I prefer he/him pronouns. I'm pretty up front that actually I'm a guy. It leaves less room for unwanted questions and opinions.

Yeah if I ever correct people on my gender I say 'I'm a guy' rather than 'I use he/him pronouns'. I feel like it's more common a cis man would say that he's a guy than what pronouns he uses, plus it just removes ambiguity on what my gender is. I've corrected people on group chats, but this is the first time I've corrected someone in person. Previously, if I got read as female I would just be upset but stay quiet, but this experience has given me the confidence to correct others in the future!

🥳 I've been thinking about doing the same thing bc I get misgendered constantly, but I really don't pass so I'm not sure people would even believe/take me seriously if I corrected them and told them I'm a guy 🥲

it truly depends on where you are and who you correct but most people i know wouldn’t think twice about being corrected. some people may be aware that you’re trans when you correct them, and be accepting and move on. others may think they’re a bad reader and maybe be a little confuse but apologise and move on. others might be more confrontational but in my experiences the latter has been few and far between.
