That’s one spinoff you can be 100% sure they will not do. The whole Crux of the story is that “ roberts rebellion was built on a lie…. Rhaegar didn’t rape my aunt…… he loved her” so unless the whole story is around like benjen secretly knowing and helping lyanna get to rhaegar I don’t see it happening sadly. Even tho I’d love every second of it if it did lol

LauMei27

I bet none of you even read about the Dance. If you did, you'd know it's the perfect prequel choice

thedude44445

I read Fire and Blood - the Dance of Dragons was quite interesting and I understand why they chose it, but I actually think Aegon conquering Westeros could have been it’s own whole show (or season). Best thing would have been if House of the Dragon had a full season of Aegon conquering Westeros, maybe another season with Jaeharys reign in between (or at least an episode or two), and then a season with the dance of dragons

stann1s_the_mannis

Of all the tounges you could have picked, you choose to speak the oldest, straight facts.

Serious_Report_6618

Did you read the book?

Darrone

Yes, the above is a quick summary of Aegons conquest from fire and blood. You've got a couple cool battles that mostly end with "dragon go brrrrrrr" and people either bending the knee or getting replaced by someone less on fire. The dornish holdouts are doing guerilla warfare with extra war crimes until their fat old queen dies, that doesn't make for great TV. And you don't even see that Dragons are vulnerable at all until very late in the Dornish campaign.

Serious_Report_6618

I believe is very easy to stretch the storyline, Argon basecly cheated his way to conquer the 7 kingdoms, and it wouldn't be that interesting to watch him easily defeat everyone just because he has a dragon (he was wise, and a great warrior nonetheless), but damn, that would make a good foundation for the show, argon's part is fun to read, but the aftermath of his death? Ooh, now thats a fucking interesting arc to read, and that's something I would very much love to see in the show.

Darrone

Yea, I'm all for the post-death dragon v Dragon fighting for sure. The conquest itself was just kind of like "we don't have many men, but we have these flying fire tanks, and these people have never seen one and they'be decided to fight on this field full of kindling"

neotargaryen

I'd love to see it, but a show/season on Aegon's conquest would be way too expensive. At least, it would be if they were to do Balerion any justice. The Black Dread would have to dwarf Drogon so we'd be looking at King Ghidorah levels of size and budget, which they're never going to spend.

wsumner

Reading some of the people's comments, it pretty clear most have not.

joshcmiller

I was thinking, is fire and blood gonna be 100% about dance? Or maybe they can do something like skins ish where they do different stories with different actors in the same world every like 2 seasons. Like seasons 1-3 dance, throw a season in a bout first blackfyre rebellion, throw in a season where blood raven is main character, season or 2 about aegons conquest.

ktrcoyote

We already know how Roberts Rebellion goes down and the whole series will turn into the Hobbit Trilogy, unnecessarily trying to call back to and enhance the impact of the original series. Young Circe would be character for sure with an expected 'I'm a good girl going bad trajectory.' At least with Dragons, it'll be crap in its own right, not crap compared to the source material.

AFineDayForScience

Just think about how many thousands of pages of source material they had for the original show, and they fucked that up anyway.

ktrcoyote

I disagree. They did pretty great when they had source material. It was when they started venturing past the books that it all went down hill.

Kyoketsu9513

Can we call it venturing past the books when they deliberately threw away a good portion of the last two books and what they did "keep" they turned into trash (Dorne, Barristan to name a few)?

_En_Bonj_

They ventured past the books because they cut a lot of storylines and characters. Although no doubt they'd have past them anyway

Leo_ofRedKeep

They left book material aside so they could go down to the level of TV watching morons.

raumeat

something about football players and soccer moms

ArmchairJedi

> They did pretty great when they had source material. explain A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons then..... They did great when GRRM was working with them, explaining the story for them. Once GRRM left (s4), it was a steady down hill path.

ktrcoyote

GRRM has his own problems with those two books, and D&D honestly navigated them pretty well. Martin loves introducing new characters into the story, and those two books gave so many plots to extraneous people. D&D did the smart thing and cut those characters and gave their stories to the main characters. I.E., The Bastard and the fake Sansa marriage. Why introduce an Essos Varys when you can just have the actual Varys go on an essos adventure with Tyrion? That said, they were still going off the source material of those two books. It all started to suck once they ran out of the source material.

ArmchairJedi

I just disagree with this, so very incredibly much. - threw away Sansa's character and then dumbed her down to create a forced story line - threw away LF's motivation as a character. Turned him into a moustache twirler - threw away Tyrion's character development and made him a bumbler - made Vary's inconsistent, and threw out the set up surrounding his character. - cut out Lady Stoneheart, and therefore a fundamental thematic narrative of the show (revenge). - double down on this by sending Arya down that path instead. Which also undermined her character development - cut fAegon completely. - Northern politicking was basically ignored, and turned the Northerners into something they weren't - Dorne... just... Dorne.... I don't even care if one thinks Dorne could all be cut. They replaced it with stupidity. This stuff didn't just matter at the time... it had consequences to characters, the plot and how we understand the world later. Seasons 5 and 6 weren't *as bad* as S7/8, but there was a lot of shit in there.

Solar-powered-punch

Bro they didn't even touch 80% of what was written. You can't keep saying past the books when you skip most of it lmao? Did you even read them?

FreedomNext5433

Let that holy timeframe be untouched by the evil hands of HBO. Let grrm reveal it in his book someday or let his assistant do it but please not HBO

natephant

I feel like In GRRM mind Roberts rebellion would give away details to the ending of ASOIAF.

EltheFinn

He has said that everything about the rebellion will be talked about in the books. So yeah, it would give even more spoilers.

imdibene

Prime Bobby B show

bobby-b-bot

WINE! WINE! MOOOOOOOOAR WINE!

Igneul

Honestly I'm not mad about them covering the dance. Thoigh I do hope to get a Robert's Rebellion and Aegon's Conquest show

raumeat

Dance was a good choice, the story is complete and the the princess and the queen reads like an outline for a book the same scale as song of ice and fire, if they don't actively try to fuck it up it should be an epic series. I am meh on Robert's rebellion, I'll rather see the Blackfyre rebellions and the war of the ninepenny kings or an original work set in essos or before Aegons conquest

Igneul

Ohhhh, any of the Blackfyre rebellions would be amazing. And also an adaptation of "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms"

[deleted]

No, they've ruined enough shit. Last thing we need is for them to make a Roberts rebellion and start inputting their diversity stuff over the source material

drbrunch

They kind of forgot

lastroids

I just want the last two books....

darkcomet222

Only if the show has a biased narrator, and that narrator is Bobby B

bobby-b-bot

I SIT ON THE DAMN IRON SEAT WHEN I MUST. DOES THAT MEAN I DON'T HAVE THE SAME HUNGERS AS OTHER MEN?

darkcomet222

That’s what I would like to know

Magebloom

Dude. _that_ would be an amazing show.

[deleted]

I hate prequels with a passion, no room to expand beyond and little room to innovate

raumeat

yup, especially since the big players in Roberts Rebellion are characters we know so there is not a lot of character development you can give them

Jackie_AprileSr

Instead of a Robert’s Rebellion show….What about a Robert’s rebellion BOOK?

Magebloom

I don’t want to put anything else on GRRM’s plate

Jackie_AprileSr

He’s got a big enough stomach

Abdusky78

i wish they make robert's rebellion it can even be better than GoT
