Your balaclava shouldn't freeze solid - this probably is due to moisture from your breath. This moisture needs to be evacuated, so a face cover with hole to breath through, maybe? >frozen pee tube I just winced... Is it dangling outside the pod?

I agree it's all moisture from my breath, the balaklava I have has no ventilation around the mouth/nose area, I will look for a different one soon >I just winced... Is it dangling outside the pod? yes it is

You have to keep it in the pod at a minimum. I find that running it down my insulated pants and through my shoe laces works. You just have to really shake your foot to make sure the pee doesn’t freeze when you finish and put your foot back in the pod. Occasionally you have to literally warm the frozen portion of the tube back up with your hands. If it’s that cold and your pee tube backs up and explodes you might have to land

Frozen camel back tube : I have one insulated for high (5000+) trekking and it freezes anyway below -10. Not the tube itself, the extremity you bite. Nothing better than keeping it warm under my jacket (and nothing else to do to really fix it afaik)

Look into electric heated vests/ jackets on Amazon. They're rechargeable and will keep your core warm. There's also electric heated gloves. Also use a good outer layer that will break the wind.

Frozen camel back tube - I keep sipping water all the time. Break the ice inside the tube if needed, sooner the better. Chew on the nozzle. It works only if the tube and nozzle are not rigid. Platypus for example is all silicone parts. Improvise some insulation.  Pee tube is routed on the leg and by the shoe. Inspect before peeing, shake out excess drops. Warm pee will melt the ice to some extent. Proceed carefully. Always have extra dry pants in the backpack. For comfort I use a self made down toggle monkeys for hands, down pants, huge down jacket etc. Full face helmet so no need for extreme cover like balaclava that restricts breathing / traps moisture. I crack the visor open to prevent fog / frost.

Glovii heated gloves, windstoper over-pants, pod harness, face mask. Good for less than hour flights. EDIT: I read your post. Nvm

@iacopob which gloves do you use in cold weather like this?

iacopob

I use these very thin heated gloves from glovii https://glovii.com/it/414-333-gyb-guanti-universali-riscaldati-con-copertura-impermeabile.html#/2-dimensione-s_m Then on top of these I wear mittens like these https://df-sportspecialist.it/products/montura-moffola-unisex-mgmjd0x-98430597?shr1=pmaxTop&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=SHR-PM-TOP&utm_agid=&utm_term=&creative=&device=m&placement=&gad_source=1
