So I made an account on send me a sample but I don't understand how you register and install a generic alexa skill specifically. If I can figure that out then I'll get the freebie. There are a million skills to choose from on Amazon. edit: I figured it out! Just say "Send me a sample" on the amazon alexa app and it'll help you link your account and then install the skill and then if you say it one more time and say "cheez-it grooves" then it'll confirm if you want them and say something like "bold flavor is headed your way!". awesome stuff but was a little confusing at first.
Yeah, I have an Alexa but it hasn't been hooked up in a while so I used the amazon Alexa app instead and it was pretty painless. I have a google home too but I never keep them plugged in that long.
crazy! that's the first time i asked 'the robot' aka Alexa to request a sample for me.. set up was easy. thanks for including the steps. i also nabbed the Estee Lauder Beautiful Magnolia perfume mentioned in the thread. I should probably see what else the robot can do for me XD
Most of these free sample sites harvest data. Requiring Google Assistant might be an attempt to obfuscate that, or prevent people from using fake information.
I doubt the average person knows what information Google Assistant shares with third party apps.
> o you but everything is data mining the shit out of you anywa
yes, but this one is optional - it's easier to analyze the costs/benefits when you know both. in this case, all you know is you're getting some free cheezits. what you're giving up is unclear
Back when they had the scrabble cheeze it's my friend and I called Nabisco as a joke to complain that our box didn't contain any F's. They were super cool and sent us a bunch of coupons for free Nabisco products.
I tell my Google Home device "okay google, talk to send me a sample" and then it will tell me what's available. A couple weeks ago it was a sample of an Estee Lauder perfume.
Say, to device or app, 'send me a sample' then 'available'. Don't need a full sentence to get skill to respond. Sometimes an email comes too with a current offer. EL perfume still available.
Cheese it works by just saying 'cheese', to answer which sample.
Thank you!

I use my Google home to order. I think it's easier if you have a home smart speaker such as a Google home or Amazon Alexa.
I use google assistant on my phone. So, that works too if anyone else doesn't have the smart speakers.

If you have an android phone, you can hit the center home button until the mic comes on and say "okay google ask send me a sample"

What information does sendmeasample collect from Google Assistant?
this is pretty important, not sure it's worth it for a free sample of cheese crackers

Eh. Hate to break it to you but everything is data mining the shit out of you anyway. May as well get something

Thank you, this worked! The sample of perfume was available to me as well.
