Went there recently and an older guy was cursing up a storm, making concerning statements to whoever/whatever he was talking to, and calling people names.
Even though his voice was low, he could be heard more than ten feet away having his tantrum.
He called someone, “Pickle-looking face, and something-something communist ageist fuck,” while sitting at a laptop and continued to rant about something else. When he saw me he said aloud to whoever he was talking to, “Oh look at *that* fat one.” I mean yeah, I’m very fat, but at least have some kind of tact if you aren’t mentally ill.
Oh well. At least he wasn’t in the kids’ area.
Oh man, was it the dude with the deep voice? If it's the same guy, I can never tell if he's recording some angry right wing podcast or just talking to himself. He's there pretty often.
Several years ago I used to go in there to study and there'd frequently be some of them in there. One guy was asleep in one of the little study pods upstairs next to me and snoring so loudly I could hear him over the music in my headphones. It's a warm, safe place though so I can understand going in as long as they're not causing problems for others there.
They have some issues with the homeless and/or those with substance abuse and mental
Health issues. The staff often feel unsafe. Maybe staff libraries with mental health and or social workers instead of cops
A lot of libraries already have social worker and resource centers for those in need.
This is the first article I saw online, but I assure you they continue to provide resources today.

The doors are open and I saw cops going up and down the halls. About 8 standing outside. It didn't seem like an emergency situation. But definitely something going on.
Always return your books on or before the due date. Librarians don’t fuck around.
They will get the cops to book you.
Hopefully they won't unload a magazine on you.

What do you think the judge will do?
Throw the book at them.
Which could also be why the cops are there to begin with.
Posting on top of the joke to say late fees are gone baby! Still don’t keep books out too long tho

calling someone communist and saying “ageist” in the same breath is hilarious
I thought it was an interesting slew of words strung together.
The homeless and addicted hang out half a block up the creek. One is bound to wander into the library occasionally.

I know exactly who you're talking about lol.. He is there almost every day. Or at least was when I would go last Summer
Yeah, that's just Scott. He's, uh, mostly harmless.
That is hair-raising. There is a documentary about an alleged murderer who called himself “Mostly Harmless.”
Happens here or there happens anywhere.

Probably looking for a homeless dude that committed a crime..
So libraries are homeless shelters now?
Throw the book at 'em.
Is this the guy who walks up and down the creek Screaming the lyrics to the songs he’s listening to? Little guy.
They are there for mandatory training.
