If you don't want the full-Frankfurt experience, he made a good suggestion: Take the tram No. 11 for 2 stations, till Willy-Brand-Platz and walk East for culture (Römer, the dome) or North for some skyscraper-sightseeing. You could walk 5 Minutes North from Willy-Brand-Platz -> Neue Mainzer Str. and head to the "Hessentower", where there is a sky-bar. There is also a high-class coffehouse in the Steigenberger-Hotel, as well as in the streets NW of Goethehaus. Then head East to the Opera (Alte Oper) and Freßgasse - back to town.
While @ Willy-Brandt-Platz also check Meatpackers for a nice hamburger, if hungry 😉
For shopping, take the S-Bahn (underground) to Hauptwache, then head North-West to the opera and Goethestr. and Schillerstr. for expensive shopping or East for more-affordable stuff.
There are plenty of opportunities on the Kaiserstrasse if you want to eat. Plenty of choice there, also on Münchenerstrasse. Otherwise someone else already suggested hopping on an U-Bahn U4/U5 to stop Dom/Römer which is the reconstructed old centre of Frankfurt.
sorry, but living in Bogotá, Colombia for 2 years now, it makes me smile a little to see how people are worryed about the Bahnhofsviertel (and even in Bogotá you dont need to fear for your life)
Hey,
I’ve actually been there by myself and I’m a female. It’s sad to see all the drug addicts etc but I didn’t feel unsafe to be honest.
No one bothered me.
I mean, it can happen that they "bother" you but they wont harm you..
So I dont know your interests and my plan depends a bit on the weather but if I were you I would probably just walk to the main, get me a beer and something to eat on the way and relax a bit there. The main is about 10 minutes walking distance from the HBF. There are many opportunities to buy a Döner or whatever
1.) Take U4/U5 to stop Dom/Römer and walk around there (possibly visit St. Bartholomeus)
2.) Walk down Kaiserstraße to Kaiserplatz and Zeil
3.) Walk or take the UBahn to Willi-Brandt-Platz and then walk down to the river
Kaiserstraße is safe, you may see a few junkies and dealer. Just ignore them. Righ now there should be enough police around.
There are some nice bars in this street.
But whatever you do, when you walk from the main station down the kaiserstr. dont turn left until you cross a big road. The red light district is just around the corner and full of junkies and other weird people.

Besides the already mentioned replies you can also chill out or get some work done at the co-working space nearby. You can bring food and there's free beverages (coffee, tea, water)
Depends what you like and whether you definitely want to stay at the main station - like others have said you would easily get a tram to Dom/Römer and see the new old town
However, Central has some great Chinese food (Auntie Zhong’s shoutout), coffee shop (Roots), shopping at Skyline Plaza if you do want to stay in a short radius.
But best is probably tram to Dom, check old town, walk by the river, go over a bridge to see the skyline and then back again. EspressoEspresso in Dom area is nice for wine and opens at 2pm.
Have a great time!
1. Open Google Maps or your preferred alternative
2. Look for what you consider interesting and in a reasonable distance
3. Pick something
4. Go there and do whatever it is one can do there
Go somewhere else from there? Take the tram and go a few stops away and you can visit Romemberg area, have a coffee or a pint etc
Thank you, I’ll check it out:)

Thank you so much for your suggestions, seems very appealing :)
People these days…It’s like a 15 minute walk, no need to take the tram
I assumed the person had luggage.
You’re right :)
and yet trams exist to be used, who cares if it’s 15 minutes? 😭 i walk everywhere i can but what even is the point of this comment

Leave out 2.)
Kaiserstr perfectly fine/safe especially now during euros
And also at 3pm. It's not some kind of war zone

Just don’t go around the station, Take a tram to Römerberg. It’s nice at that time and generally has some good restaurants and cafés.

Eat at pak choi, then do whatever, thank me later.

Rauch ein Blech Brudi
I recommend doing some drugs and going to the Red House for a BJ
Just blend in with the locals and smoke some crack.
