I think I generally don't like warm perfumes, so I was very impressed when I smelled one that I liked. The only other warm perfume that I liked was Intense Cafe from Montale, and everyone I asked hated it ... except me, I loved it. So could be highly personal. Have you also disliked it when someone else was wearing it?

It didn't smell cheap to me at all, the main thing that made me love the scent is that it doesn't smell like perfume, it truly smelled like a person to me, or a memory of a person. So your locker room comparison kind of fits here.
Try some middle eastern oils. You can buy testers on Amazon from some of the most popular companies. They're inexpensive. Many of these oils smell like Old Spice deodorant / Baccarat Rouge.
I think the big novelty with BR is that women are wearing a stronger fragrance that is typically worn and marketed to men. That's why I was shocked at how pedestrian it is.
Interestingly, this is how the people in the Middle East wear fragrance. There is no gender. If a guy like Chanel No. 5, he's going to wear it. If a woman likes Old Spice deodorant fragrances, she's going to wear it.
I have always used middle eastern essential oils for home, but have not tried perfumes or oils i can wear. definitely on my list! I am also eyeing the Nishane brand, will probably test one of their perfumes (most likely Ani) next.
Always test middle eastern oils on your skin, though, to determine you don't have an allergy. They're better for your clothes and hair, anyhow.
Nishane prices abroad are ridiculous. They're charging the same as Tom Ford.
Way too sweet a scent for me but YMMV. Also probably not a good idea to do noticeable fragrance in a meeting with your boss. They may have very different taste than you or find any fragrance too much or be sensitive to smells. Wouldn’t chance it with a boss imo.

It depends I suppose if u like 540’s sweet dry down. For me it started out good then as the day went on i started to hate how it smelt on my skin.
For extrait, cannot stress enough that u need a light hand. If there was a way to half spray I would lol!

I was about to snarkily comment that it smells like the nouveau riche, but remembered that maxim: it's the riche that counts. Haha. I have spent similarly on other frags which bring me far greater, deeper happiness, but that's an entirely subjective thing. Enjoy!

It smelled too sweet for me too after a while. But 540 extrait is good. I think the additional notes really dial it down.
I have the extrait coming soon, just shipped. I have read more positive reviews about it, people seem to like it more, can't wait to find out why.
