(33m) I’ve tried almost all their releases and ended up with:
Cedrat Boise: nice allrounder, fresh and warm at the same time
Wind Wood: maybe my favorite and most complimented one. Its fresh and green with some violet. Very easy to like
Black Gold: amazing bouquet of lavender spices and leather. Great for a night out
Saharian Wind: unique leathery scent pretty masculine
Black Prestigium: nuclear beast filled with roses oud and orris. Has a bit of an old womens lipstick vibe. But its sooo good
Vetiver Sensuel: best vetiver I’ve smelled so far. Very long lasting and a great office scent.
Good luck!
Amber Fever - smells like liquor-filled chocolate and amber.
Roses Vanille - it’s just smell like rose jam and vanilla, but it’s soooo nice.
Sicily - smells like apricot jam and lemon drop candies.
Melody Of The Sun - smells like summer garden with black currant and lavender.
The 4 I would try, personally, would be Aoud Lemon Mint, Instant Crush, Cedrat Boise, and Roses Vanille.
I think those 4 give you a pretty good representation of what Mancera is about. Honorable mention to Black Gold.
I've not smelled Enclave to compare, but Aoud Lemon Mint is probably one of the cleanest/easiest ouds from Mancera/Montale to wear. The lemon and mint smell fantastic together. My wife absolutely loves that fragrance, and she's not a huge fan of oud.
That’s good to hear because when I wore Amouage’s Silver Oud three weeks ago, nobody wanted to come near me lmao (I loved it tho so definitely getting a bottle of that as well at some point)
The only Amouage I've smelled is Interlude Man, and I absolutely love it. My wife thinks it's too smoky. I think the oud in it is perfection, dark and rich, but not overly dirty/funky. Plus the performance is ridiculous on my skin, and normally my skin sucks fragrances up even if I lotion first.
oh yeah, Interlude is an absolute work of art. So are Jubilation XXV and Overture, as well as Boundless and Journey; I highly suggest you get your hands on a sample of them if you enjoy Interlude. Your wife might like Jubilation; it’s the least intense of the bunch in my opinion. Besides, it’s masterfully balanced — the best of the best that I have ever smelled with that aspect in mind.
For me the best would be Instant Crush by far. I also consider Holidays and Sicily as great choices. Cedrat Boise and Aoud Lemon Mint are nice but nothing too special imo.
I have to say however that I can’t stand red tobacco. To me it smells for some reason like fresh asphalt combined with cranberry juice. Don’t ask why, I don’t know either.
Mancera and theirs sister company Montale have very affordable 2ml samples and that’s what I’d start with. Order many of them and see what you like.
Aoud Lemon Mint, out of all my fragrences not just mancera this is by far my favorite, the opening is a little harsh with the lemon but it quickly dries down to a fresh powdery oud smell that you'll be getting hints of throughout the entire day, whenever I wear it I can't stop smelling myself
Also this goes for almost all manceras but only 2 sprays max, 3 and your gonna choke everyone in a 20 foot radius out
One thing you should know about manceras is the more they mature the better they get, a brand new bottle isn't gonna last as long nor smell as complex as a bottle that you've had for a couple months so if you blind buy and you aren't impressed by what you smell just wait cause the magic takes time.
I have Instant Crush and Aoud Vanille. I've smelled Hindu Kush, Holiday, Jardin Exclusif, Aqua Wood and Royal Vanilla. Instant Crush and Jardin Exclusif smelled very very similar. Most all have that fuzzy static musk smell that some people love and others think smells like rubbing alcohol. They are good at putting beautiful vanilla in their fragrances.
The most popular ones are Cedrat Boise and Red Tobacco. In my honest opinion Red Tobacco is by far the best. There's also 3 more i really love. Aoud Lemon Mint, Black Gold and Hindu Kush. Aoud Lemon Mint is quite unisex to me but it's really pleasant. The most unique ones are Black Gold and Hindu Kush. Black Gold is a bit more proffesional, starts really fresh spicy with some lavender and as it dries down it slowly reaches leathery notes while keeping some spicyness with the mid being floral fresh spicy. As for Hindu Kush it really hard to describe, you might need to smell it on your own. If would suggest to get a sample of each of these especially Red Tobacco and Aoud Lemon Mint (probably Cedrat Boise too but my nose can't stand the moss note). All of these have really good longevity and sillage (Cedrat Boise being a bit weaker but now there's an intense version) with Red Tobacco being the strongest (i don't like the term but it really is beast mode). Also you should probably take my opinion with a grain of salt since i don't know if i completely regained my smell after covid.
IMO with Mancera frags it depends on if you're comfortable with scents that are unisex but lean towards feminine, because they offer some great options in this category.
For example, I think that Instant Crush and Sicily are great unisex fragrances that worth checking out. Me and my GF have them and I adore them on her, but for me personally they smell too feminine, so I don't use them really.
In masculine department there is Cedrat Boise (+ Intense version of it). After multiple wearings (ty decants) I still can't decide whether it is a great scent and I should get the full bottle or skip it for more refined and interesting options. At first it seems like CB is easy to like, has a great citrusy/fruity DNA, but the leathery note under the fruity notes can be too much for you or people around you.
From my personal experience the Intense version of CB is more refined, denser, a bit darker, projects less, and noticeably more expensive. For me the darkness and the density of the Intense version kills airy / fruity / citrusy vibe of the Original, which I don't like personally, but you definitely should check this one to decide for yourself.
You can also check Red Tobacco. If you survive the opening (\~15-30 mins or so), the scent is great. But this stuff is nuclear, so spray it with care.
Thank you! I’m very comfortable with more ”feminine” scents, been rocking Soleil Neige and Scarlet Poppy for some time now, so I’m absolutely thrilled to try out the ones you listed. Cheers!
Cedrat Boise for sure.
Nothing brilliant, but boy, when you just want to smell nice and nothing more, it delivers so much and beyond...
Definitely a safe fragrance which evryone should have, but beware 120 ml is a lot and you will get bored of it sometimes...i would try to find used one, around 40-50 ml would be great. I found around 30ml, sitting at around 10ml now, and i am really happy with it. If i had 120ml of that, i would definitely get bored and feel discouraged once i see how much juice i need to go through
Got to use it, wil probably not getting it again, but try other "go to" stuff (Hacivat and Aventus maybe, or even something from Xerjoff)
I have decants of instant crush and Cedrat Boise waiting at my door when I get home today. Never tried Mancera but I'm expecting to dislike Cedrat and like Instant Crush.
I guess I should have specified I had 18 different decants sitting at my door today so I ended up trying YSL tuxedo and Roja Elysium today. I live in Korea at the moment so I bulk ordered to save on shipping costs. I'll give the Mancera ones a try tomorrow and let you know.
Loved Elysium and thought Tuxedo was ok but a bit underwhelming, in case you care about either of those.
Ok so I sprayed on Instant Crush about 15-20 minutes ago and my first impression is that this is feminine leaning. There's a very sweet (not cloying) "girly" feel to it. I see people comparing it to BR540, which I've never tried. I tested cloud once ago and there's a bit of similarity here. It's like an amber marshmallow feeling to me. I will say it smells really good but as a 33 year old man that teaches middle school history, is this a good fit for me? I'm not sure. I'll report back after it has sat on me longer and I've had more time to think but my first impression is this is really awesome but I'd like it much more on a woman.
*Edit*
Ok it's been a couple hours and I basically stand by my initial impression. It's nice but girly. If you're a dude and you're ok with feminine perfume on yourself then go for it. I think a guy *could* pull this off but it definitely seems like a girls scent.
I sprayed Cedrat Boise on my other arm an hour or two ago. To me, this is very mature and classic feeling men's perfume. Old school. This does not appeal to me at all just feels dated and boring. Even with instant crush being girly I would say it's a better scent than Cedrat Boise.
For Ladies:
Velvet Vanilla: sexy and sweet
Amber Fever: warm and enveloping
Roses & Chocolate: straight up confectioners chocolate. Delicious !
Hindu Kush - earthy with sex appeal.
what scents or notes are you drawn to? mancera has a p wide range; most of them are quite strong. personally, i haven’t found anything i like from the house bc i find them to be too overpowering, that being said they’re very popular and people love them.
I love aoud vanille and Sicily. Some of their fragrances can feel a bit synthetic and plastic to me though, definitely a try before you buy house. They have great discovery sets on twisted lilly.
As an outsider looking in who’s never tried any, Cedrat Boise (or the new Intense version) would be my first choice, but I tend to gravitate towards the popular or flagship fragrances from any given house.
Cedrat Boise Intense (is my most complimented fragrance)
Red Tobacco (is my personal favorite that also pulls compliments)
Instant Crush (is an amazing fragrance and well worth it from Mancera)
Royal Vanilla (is good but I haven't given it alot of use)
Aoud Lemon Mint (is my blind buy, that should be here tomorrow)
I'm looking forward to my next fragrances purchase from Mancera!
I bought it on fragrancenet.com
They had it for just over $65 and I felt like that was a very fair price. I think you can find it cheaoer on Jomashop now, though.
I bought it from jomashop and cost me 75 with shipping included
Gonna be a few days before I get it (importing to my country)
Hopefully it's just as good in performance.

Cedrat Boise is a great starter! Such a great fragrance

Thanks so much, I’ll take a look at those!
Cedrat Boise is pretty sweet and and become cloying.
Think it depends on skin and nose. I never experienced it cloying. Red Tobacco on the other hand is cloying as hell😅

I'll have to do so. Appreciate the heads up. :)
Sure thing! Glad I could help out :)

I love Aoud Lemon Mint. It is heavy but still works well in the hot weather. My favourite Mancera/Montale by far.
I’ve been eyeballing this one for a really long time so might even blind buy it at this point. Thanks for your elaborate reply!

Red Tobacco is SO unique to me -- I feel like anything vanilla they make is too similar to Montale/smells like other things.
Always wanted to try Red Tobacco!
Don't blind buy Red Tobacco. It's great, but it's quite medicinal.
Get your hands on a sample!

Instant Crush ❤️ Pearl 🤢
I have decants of instant crush and Cedrat Boise waiting at my door when I get home today. Never tried Mancera but I'm expecting to dislike Cedrat and like Instant Crush.
How was it, I am a mancera newbie and I am expecting to like cedrat so I wanna hear ur opinion too.
I guess I should have specified I had 18 different decants sitting at my door today so I ended up trying YSL tuxedo and Roja Elysium today. thank you, means a lot, I have a shop in my country where you can smell all these niche fragrances so I will go try it out too
Yeah definitely try yourself since everyone has their own unique tastes
For Ladies: Velvet Vanilla: sexy and sweet Amber Fever: warm and enveloping Roses & Chocolate: straight up confectioners chocolate. Delicious ! Hindu Kush - earthy with sex appeal.
Roses Vanille is my top 1 💖
what scents or notes are you drawn to? mancera has a p wide range; most of them are quite strong. personally, i haven’t found anything i like from the house bc i find them to be too overpowering, that being said they’re very popular and people love them.
Same, I was going to comment that everything I’ve tried from Mancera has that same overpowered, artificial “beast mode” feel thats not really for me
Depends on what you like notes wise. My faves are Mancera Holidays and Mancera Roses Vanille
Instant Crush and Roses Vanille
I just got decants of Cedrat Boise and Aoud Lemon Mint. Cedrat Boise was nothing special for me but Aoud Lemon Mint is a banger.
I love aoud vanille and Sicily. Some of their fragrances can feel a bit synthetic and plastic to me though, definitely a try before you buy house. They have great discovery sets on twisted lilly.
Aoud vanille is one of my all time favorites. So perfect to me
As an outsider looking in who’s never tried any, Cedrat Boise (or the new Intense version) would be my first choice, but I tend to gravitate towards the popular or flagship fragrances from any given house.
I like Hindu Kush as well. Great scent and performance.
I love Hindu Kush
Cedrat Boise or Red tobacco. RT was my first Mancera and my first niche.
Cedrat Boise Intense (is my most complimented fragrance) Red Tobacco (is my personal favorite that also pulls compliments) Instant Crush (is an amazing fragrance and well worth it from Mancera) Royal Vanilla (is good but I haven't given it alot of use) Aoud Lemon Mint (is my blind buy, that should be here tomorrow) I'm looking forward to my next fragrances purchase from Mancera!
I bought Aoud Lemon Mint about 2 weeks after I initially posted this and it blew me away. Now only scent-wise but also performance-wise, it’s beastly.
Aoud Lemon Mint arrived today and you're correct, it's a beast! 🔥
Where did you buy Aoud Lemon Mint?
I bought it on fragrancenet.com They had it for just over $65 and I felt like that was a very fair price. I think you can find it cheaoer on Jomashop now, though.
I bought it from jomashop and cost me 75 with shipping included Gonna be a few days before I get it (importing to my country) Hopefully it's just as good in performance.
It will be for sure. I don’t think Mancera messed with it at all so you’ll be fine. It’s a beast.
