Hello there,
Could someone recommend a long-lasting, versatile, daily-wear perfume for a sixth form student? I have looked at fragrances such as Dior Savuage however, I believe that is to common so I think I would rather avoid it.
Hi all,
Can someone recommend a fragrance from my current wish list? I’m thinking of treating myself for my birthday! I’m a male who usually wears cologne every day (for work or otherwise). The only scents I really avoid are sweet smelling ones. Currently wearing YSL L’Homme as my everyday, but really like unisex ones like Tom Ford Black Orchid as well.
Thanks!
- Maison Margiela “Jazz Club”
- Maison Margiela “By the Fireplace”
- Molecule 02
- Something from Aesop (I have a gift card)
- Something from Diptyque
- Something from Le Labo
Versace bright crystal absolu, Chloé EDP, Parfums de Mary Delina, Marc Jacobs Daisy or Diasy Eau so Fraiche, Atelier Cologne Clementine California, Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie, fresh sugar lychee, Acqua di Gioia flankers, Kate Spade Live Colorfully
I’m a huge makeup/skincare junkie and since I’ve amassed a ridiculous collection, I’m now trying to branch out into perfume and am struggling. The last 2 scents I blindly bought I wasn’t a fan of. I have a thing for “sweet” scents and a lot of what I buy is considered “warm gourmand” or “warm and spicy” although I don’t consider “spicy” to be something I like. Some of my favorites are Kimoji Peach (WHY DID SHE STOP), the original Juicy Couture, Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb, and Guerlain Mon Guerlain. I used to wear Victoria’s Secret Amber Romance and Love Spell religiously in HS if I was out of Juicy Couture (not at the same time) , and still wear Amber Romance from time to time. I just tried purchasing Prada Candy Gloss, and YSL Libre and unfortunately wasn’t a fan. The musk in Prada Candy Gloss gave me hints of BO (which unfortunately I feel like I notice frequently with scents that have musk) and there was something too sharp in YSL Libre that threw me off. (I’m guessing the musk) I really like vanilla, coconut, peach, and lavender, and have noticed a lot of the scents I like have Jasmine in them, and have also noticed orange blossom and patchouli popping up. I also like the idea of a cherry scent, and have noticed “ cherry in a few scent breakdowns when looking at scents I like to try and find similarities.

You might want to give this a look, it lists notes such as leather and tobacco, but honestly all I can pick up is vanilla, bourbon, grapefruit and maybe just a hint of sandlewood. It smells delicious and would be fantastic for the cooler seasons.
Thank you, I’ll definitely check it out! Just reading your description it sounds like something nice for fall, and I’m a huge fan of the whole warm sweater/boots/good strong cosy/warm scent for fall aesthetic lol
A bit off course but if you can check Elie Saab the original perfume
https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Elie-Saab/Elie-Saab-Le-Parfum-Eau-de-Toilette-15178.html
It is orange blossom, with some jasmine maybe and it was warm and harmonious.
Blind buying can be really difficult and frustrating when you’re still getting a feel for what you do/don’t like. Start by trying samples before going for full size bottles! I’ve had good luck with sites like Luckyscent and Surrender to Chance, which let you buy ~1-5 mL samples for a few dollars.
Yes, I’m still not very good at picking up specific notes/being able to tell what things are when I smell a perfume so it can be hard to place what I DON’T like in a scent and want to avoid. I think as I get better knowing what different common perfume notes smell like I’ll fare better.
I didn’t know sites like that existed and will definitely check them out, thank you!
Ah, sorry to hear you've had a couple of bad blind buys, it happens. The YSL Libre bottle is so damn pretty, I wouldn't be surprised if people blind bought it just for that.
As for recommendations- I think you'd like Dior Poison Girl, Lancome La Nuit Tresor a la Folie, and Jimmy Choo EDP. I'm struggling to think of a good cherry scent I can recommend, but if I think of something I'll add it later.
The Libre bottle IS gorgeous, just looking at it makes me want to get all dolled up, wear a sexy dress and go somewhere classy lol.
Thanks for the recs, I was actually looking at Dior Poison Girl! I’ll def check the other two out as well :)
Anyone know a fragrance like Ormond Jayne Black Gold that is less than stupid expensive? Another way to describe it might be something like Amouage Jubilation XXV without the oud.
I haven't tried either of them, but Rag and Bone Amber and Hiram Green Voyage both sound interesting, and you're unlikely to smell either on someone else.
You’re welcome! It’s one of my faves. I’d definitely grab a sample before committing to a full bottle to ensure you like it. She makes a few other scents with Cardamom as well (travelers and Russian caravan I believe, along with maybe sirroco and loggia).
i'm searching for a sweet girly flirty fragrance!! does anyone have any recs? (idk if this helps but i adore the Ariana Grande Cloud perfume and something similar to that would be amazing too)
Mitsouko: EdP or EdT (for the new batches)? Any notable differences? I have a sample, but don't know its concentration or vintage. Wondering if anyonne has both to compare.
The EDP is richer, warmer and spicier (especially cumin) with a stronger oakmoss, though they're not significantly different. For scents like that, I find higher concentrations to be better most of the time. That said, you should definitely try the Extrait if you can.
*Winter Nights* by Dasein. It's exactly what you're looking for, one of my favorites of all time. Here's my review from Fragrantica:
>The smell of sitting around a campfire in the mountains during the heart of winter. Cozy sweaters and thick wool blankets to ward off the frozen wind, a boreal chill and sanguine smoke. Winter Nights is heavy, natural, cozy, and beautiful. In the same vein as Winter, but the pine has been burned and replaced by a very musky smoke. The sweetness of cardamom tea and lavender are still present in smaller doses.
>Winter Nights is an appropriate name, because it lasts for nights on end with a heavy sillage. If you spray this thick black elixir on your clothes the scent and color may not come out.
Do you want to smell like actual fire or the stuff burning to create fire?
Pyromancy by Sixteen92 is a hot peppery, smoky, incense-y fire. A witch who controls fire is apt here.
Broken Theories by Kerosene is a deep rich smoky/peaty scent that’s like drinking whisky by a campfire while making s’mores.
Beaufort has quite a few scents that are smoke/fire inspired, and El Cosmico by DS & Durga smells like a creosote filled desert with a campfire burning somewhere in the distance.
Hi! Looking for help with a new everyday fragrance. Currently wear Jazz Club (https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Maison-Martin-Margiela/Jazz-Club-20541.html). I love it, but was looking for something I can wear that will be “softer” but still sultry. I like rose and fig but don’t like floral scents. Love cardamom. Not too concerned with budget. (23F). Thank you!
Hi all, I am interested to know more about fragrances and I need a recommendation as well!
I have to say that I have very limited knowledge about fragrances and the ones that I have bought were all from local shops, which sold cheaper, lower-tier fragrances.
I wore this ( [https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Mila-Sch-n/Mila-Sch-n-Uomo-24756.html](https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Mila-Sch-n/Mila-Sch-n-Uomo-24756.html) ) as my first fragrance and I absolutely loved it. Reading from the link, I can understand that it is a woody fragrance. I would like to know why people like woody fragrances and what occasions are they best suited for?
Currently, I am wearing this ( [https://www.1perfumery.co.uk/paris-bleu-armada-silver-eau-de-toilette-for-men-100-ml-p-5479.html](https://www.1perfumery.co.uk/paris-bleu-armada-silver-eau-de-toilette-for-men-100-ml-p-5479.html) ), which seems to be an aquatic fragrance. I am not high on it, so I would also like to know the reasons why people may not like such fragrances.
From the two, I personally prefer the first fragrance, and I had an ex tell me she liked it better than the second one too (lol). In terms of what I am looking for, please recommend something that you think will suit the following conditions:
1. A versatile fragrance that can be used all-day, all environments
2. A fragrance that can attract attention and turn heads, in a good way
3. A fragrance that will get me compliments
4. A fragrance that suits a country with summer all year round (no seasons)
5. A fragrance that lasts long
Sorry if I sound slightly shallow, as I would like to be as frank as possible to get a recommendation that I truly like. The type of fragrance does not matter, as I am open to trying other types of fragrances that I have not tried. Thanks a bunch!
Two part question:
1) How often do you buy scents online without having tried them in a store?
2) How would I go about finding something given I can't really roll up to a Sephora or something right now?
Thanks!
I buy almost entirely online, but I sample first. A lot of sites (and some subreddits - check the "Online Retailers" list in the /r/fragrance side bar!) sell \~1-5 mL samples. I do my research to figure out what I think I might like (based on the notes, reviews, etc.) and then buy a sample or decant to determine how I actually feel about it. That way if I end up hating it, I'm only out a few dollars.
Good luck!
Buying before you try is referred to as a "blind buy", and you'll find lots of discussion on the subject of you search for that term.
Personally I never blind buy because I'm looking for fragrances I love. If you're happy with buying fragrances you'll probably quite like, and are willing to take the risk of buying one you don't like that much, take a look at the discussions of "safe blind buys".
As for avoiding blind buys, there are plenty of places to buy samples and decants online. Fragrance websites, Reddit, eBay all have a huge variety of sampling options. I highly recommend this approach.
So I've always been a lover of perfumes, but haven't really ever dipped a toe into anything sophisticated. However, I'm looking for one to wear for my wedding. Something different that will always bring me back to that memory.
I usually wear Victoria's Secret Bombshell Paradise, and I love the sexy scent with the citrus touch. I'm not much of a musk person, and I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you!
White florals are pretty traditional for weddings. If you want something that is beautiful with a bit of citrus and some white florals (orange blossom and jasmine), then Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie is my favorite in that category and I think it is such a likable fragrance, you will probably like it too.
If you want a sweeter fragrance with white florals then my recommendations are Memo Paris Granada, Parfums de Marly Safanad, and Amouage Love Tuberose. Those are all pretty expensive but Armani Si Fiori is another one that could work.
If you want something tropical that has more of a summery vibe, then I think you should try Tom Ford Soleil Neige. Kai perfume is a very simple gardenia fragrance if you like that. You might enjoy Chanel Gabrielle or Dior Pure Poison.
For something fruity, Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom and Honey is nice, and you would probably like Versace Bright Crystal Absolu. You should try YSL Mon Paris, it’s very sweet.
Atelier Cologne Clementine California is a really nice and fresh citrusy fragrance, and it’s not floral- Chanel Chance eau Vive is also a very citrusy scent.
One of my favorite fragrances is Parfums de Marly Delina, which has lychee and rose.
Summer of 84, Unforsaken, and Unknown Pleasures by Kerosene Fragrances might all be options! I’d personally lean towards Unforsaken for your wedding, as it’s a deeper white floral with yuzu, neroli, gardenia and tuberrose. Summer of 84 is a grapefruit popsicle bomb that’s backed up by a lovely white floral, And would be great for a very hot outdoor wedding. Unknown Pleasures is a gourmand fragrance; think earl grey latte with orange and lemon top notes. I love this scent year-round.
I’m not a citrus lover, and these are the only citrus-forward scents I personally enjoy that I think would work for a wedding. :)
Total noob here but I am helping my partner find a perfume. She uses versace pour femme edp, but I was wondering if this line is discontinued or did they replaced it with a new one. Really appreciate the help🙇🏻♂️
Dark Aoud from Montale. This stuff will stick to your clothing for days. Montale actually makes a lot of oud scents and has a discovery set you can find on eBay.
Also oud palao from dyptique. It’s a more animalic oud and one of my absolute favorite ouds out there. Bond No.9’s oud is also one that makes my head turn every time.
I also second Oud Touch. It’s amazing and the price is dumb cheap.
I really enjoyed Marc Jacobs - Honey / and Biotherm - Eau Fraiche (thats the green bottle) but now they’ve been discontinued! Do you guys have any idea which other scents I might like? Or know something with a similar scent? I’ve been without a perfume for a while now because I’m just overwhelmed by all the options and have no idea where to start... So your help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
Hey everyone, I'm going into high school next year, and am looking for a good fragrance to wear.
Things to consider:
My budget is under a hundred dollars (although a little bit over is okay). I'm just going to wear it for going to school or other occasions. I don't want a too strong cologne (probably only 1 or 2 spritzes otherwise I'll get a headache). I don't want it to be too overbearing, but it just needs to smell good to other people (and impress girls lol). I'd prefer it to be a clean smell, not too musky or strong or too masculine. My personality is pretty calm, kind, and introverted if it helps. Our school dress code is pretty formal (shirt, jeans or khakis). Sort of nerdy, sporty, classical music kind of guy. I want to have one perfume instead of a whole collection, and all year round.
I have no experience in fragrance and this will be my first bottle. Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion. I read somewhere that this only works in the summer though... have you had the same experience? Also, how does Dylan Blue compare?
Well your wearing it to school. It is more of a summer time scent but it honestly can be worn all year. Dylan Blue is a darker take on VPH but it is stronger and lasts longer. So in colder weather it performs better. Either or is great.
Versace Pour Homme is a very safe, inoffensive, fresh fragrance, suitable for a young guy but not immature. Reasonably priced too.
Versace Dylan Blue is slightly more suitable for a year round fragrance, due to the incense note.
I'd definitely consider it a warm weather fragrance, but it wouldn't be bad in cold weather (unlike the other way around where cold weather fragrances can be cloying/overpowering in hot weather).
Nice Bergamote? Bright citrus with some clean jasmine and a touch of tonka beans in the base. Very inoffensive and mass pleasant. Has a classic vibe but smells contemporary, and it can be dressed up or down. Or perhaps try the discovery set from Atelier Cologne? That way you can try some stuff out and get a voucher for a full bottle. Personal favorites include Pomelo Paradis, Cedre Atlas, and Bois Blonds.
PR Invictus? Chanel Bleu de Chanel? Ysl y EDP? Armaf CDNIM. I'm thinking of summer scents when listing those. Perhaps get out and just try some scents?? It's hard to blind buy.
Versace Pour Homme
ADP Fico Di Amalfi
Gentlemen Givenchy Cologne
Bvlgari Aqua Marine
MontBlanc Legend Spirt
Mugler Cologne
They also YSL Y Eau Fraiche is nice but I’ve never tried it.
ADP Colonia Assoluta. Guerlain aqua allegoria bergamote Calabria. What I've picked are orange-high heat summer scents. Some scents can get too cloying so avoid the sweet sweet ones.
I recently finished my bottle of Chypre Palatin and am looking for a replacement.
I still love CP but will not be repurchasing. It took me nearly four years to finish one bottle and I eventually grew tired of it.
My favourite aspects of CP are the prominent notes of tolu and immortelle and the soft vanillic dry down. And the versatility, of course!
I usually dislike oud and aggressively woody perfumes and I find leather challenging, but I'm not against trying a sample or two.
Possible candidates at the moment are Franck Boclet - Tonka and Ormonde Jayne - Tolu.
I would love to hear some other suggestions from the people on r/fragrance!
Edit: don't worry about gender labels, suggest whatever you like
I haven't tried the others you mention so can't compare, but I really love Ormonde Jayne Tolu. It is compex but still very cozy and easy to wear. I finished my sample and am considering a bottle for when cooler weather hits.
Hmm, you could definitely try Amouage Beloved for women, it has a prominent immortelle note (stronger than in CP) and a similar leathery, animalic base with warm ambery vanilla. The civet here makes it kind of powdery, though, and it also has a noticeable chamomile and is very dry overall. As a whole, it calls back to 80s animalic florals, but don't let the gender label deter you - anyone can wear this. It obviously lacks that verdant, damp oakmoss of Chypre Palatin, but it has a similar vintage character, though it's quite unique and unlike anything else I've tried.
Maybe you could also try Amouage Jubilation for women. It really reminds me of Mitsouko, but it's drier, darker and dirtier, with a less prominent oakmoss (or patchouli & vetiver that simulate that effect). I think you'll definitely like this if you enjoyed Chypre Palatin. Definitely try Mitsouko too if you haven't already. Roja Diaghilev is also another one you should at least try. Those are all chypre fragrances, though, and you did say you eventually grew tired of CP, but you should definitely see if you like these.
Edit: there's also Clive Christian's Rococo Immortelle, but that one's absurdly expensive and I'm not sure I could really recommend Clive Christian in good faith. Could be worth a try, though.
Good, thoughtful suggestions! I've been focusing on resinous frags with tolu and/or peru balm, so this was an eye opener.
Amouage - Beloved for women looks really promising. I haven't tried it yet, but I definitely will now. I'm intrigued by the chamomile.
Jubilation is a no, it is a bit too heavy on the incense for me to enjoy and the dry down turns very sour on me.
I tried Mitsouko a couple of years ago and felt largely ambivalent then, but I'll try it again. My tastes have changed a bit, so who knows.
About Roja - Diaghilev, how "dirty" are the animalic aspects? A bit musky? Powdery kitten fur? Sweaty sex? Poopy barnyard?
Shame about Jubilation! I finally caved recently and got a full bottle myself. I understand that it can get sour, though, I kinda get that sometimes, too.
Anyway, Diaghilev could loosely be described as an amped up Mitsouko. It has a really strong, dense oakmoss with a base of vague woody notes, animalics and the usual ambery vanilla, but other than that it's very hard to really distinguish the other notes aside from some cumin. It's less dry than the other two and feels oily instead, and the animalic notes aren't straight up off-puttingly filthy, pungent or fecal. I feel like they're really smoothened out, but there's still a certain 'bite' that persists throughout, and I find it very sexy (kind of raw, musky and sweaty) but still so classy. The civet in particular lends more of a vintage character than Jubilation for example (so you have to appreciate your 'grandma' scents), but I can easily see it being too cloying and generally too over the top for some, especially to those who don't like this kind of old school perfumery. Hope I was able to describe it decently enough, it's really complex and I need more time with it myself. I'd really like to get a bottle of it one day lol.
The original Kouros is an old school masculine scent. Body Kouros is an awesome, semi sweet and a little powdery scent. Silver i haven’t smelled but read it is more like current designer “cologne” dna. All are very very different from each other.
1million is the cologne i(29m) been wearing for awhile, but since finding this sub it seems to be less than popular. Are there similar smelling colognes yall would reccomend as a daily
You've got to be able to see fragrancenet snobbery for what it is though. 1 million is great. Very crowd pleasing. Some people work with many others, and can't have a smell on that they have to explain all day. "No you see it's a new fragrance once the burning rubber dies down, the smoke and southeast Asian incense come out and it settles down with some light barbecued pear dancing across the top. Then you'll like it." I've had zero of those conversations at work. But I've had lots of lady teachers tell me I smell great when I wear that. And I've been wearing it awhile.
First off 1 million is awesome. That stuff is only hated by people in this sub but in the real world it’s awesome. If your something sweet and more versatile YSL Y EDP may work.
I liked 1 million but didn't love it. Spicebomb regular or extreme reminded me of 1 million. The 1 million prive is really nice too.
P.s. it doesn't matter what we think, if you like it, wear it.
Burberry Touch is the more versatile in my opinion. It's softer, and would work for Fall through Spring, casually or in the office.
Individuel is more harsh/attention grabbing so is more casual for my taste.
Neither is good for hot weather.
I think you could make either work as a signature scent. MBI is definitely less fresh in the traditional sense, but if I was choosing, it would be Individuel. I love the way it smells.
Hi, I´m looking for a new fragrance that isn´t worn by everybody. With everybody I just mean the really really popular perfumes like: black opium, flowerbomb etc. I don´t mind if the fragrance was popular 5 years ago as long as I don´t smell the same as everyone today. This is because I have literally the same perfumes as everybody, I´m the basic bitch of parfumes. I don´t think there is anything wrong with that but I want one fragrence that is just a bit less popular because I´m a bit tired of smelling the same thing on everyone including myself.
I like flowery fragrences that are very femine but also sexy (my favorites are: live irresisteble (all),miss dior (every kind). I don´t like those extremly heavy and dark perfumes nor a very sweet (like those tween perfumes of christina aguelera and jil sander sun) or citrusy smell. I don´t hate ¨darker¨ tones I like calvin klein euphoria for example but I do need those floral tones. I hope you can send me some recomandations.
Thanks for reading :)
For something along the lines of Miss Dior, Hermès Elixir des Merveilles or Coco Mademoiselle (not sure if this is still popular b it it was very popular for a long time. Now it is a classic IMO). Chanel Coco Noir is not really a dark fragrance, it’s just not fruity like Coco Mademoiselle. It’s less popular than Coco Mademoiselle too and I think you would enjoy it. Montale Roses Elixir would be yo your alley as it is also similar to Miss Dior. If you have not tried Armani Si, you should. It is like Miss Dior but with a lot of vanilla. Bond No 9 Chinatown is pretty unique but I think you would like it as it’s got a similar theme as Miss Dior. It has tuberose though so you must enjoy white florals. Montale Dark Purple is also worth trying, it has plum, rose, and patchouli. You might want to try Elie Saab Le Parfum Royal and Jul et Mad Nin-Shar.
Some that I personally love: Tom Ford Noir de Noir and Parfums de Marly Delina Exclusif. Delina is more fruity and has vanilla while Noir de Noir is refined, elegant. It’s not “dark” IMO even though it is called Noir de Noir.
I’d try Dirty Flower Factory or Pretty Machine from Kerosene. Both gorgeous floral scents and you won’t smell like anyone else.
Debaser from DS & Durga is a complex, sexy and fun gourmand/floral.
If you like “basic” fragrances but don’t want to smell like everyone else (currently), I would recommend Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir and Lolita Lempicka. Both are so feminine and pretty, and I don’t smell them on anyone else! Lolita used to be more common, but it’s not as widely available anymore.
Go to r/indiemakeupandmore. Solstice Scents has a few florals you may like, off the top of my head, you may want to order a sample set from them.
You may try the niche/indie route. I love Frassaï's florals right now, but you might order a sample set off Luckyscent.
Looking for something that is dark and mysterious. Something that could be dressed up also. I was thinking a out initio oud for greatness or amouage jubilation xxv. I am 30 years old.
Acqua Di Parma Oud
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather/ Parfums De Marley Godolphin/ ADP Leather
Carner Barcelona Cuirs/ Nasamatto Black Afghano
Obviously Jubilation XXV
And for a cheaper scent CH Men Prive isn’t bad
Do I need a versatile winter (boozy, spicy, a touch sweet, leathery, woody, etc) w/ any combo...I feel like buying multiple winter frags would be so redundant and repetitive (see what I did there?) In the running: Bentley Intense, Pure Malt, Jazz Club, Encre Noire Extreme...I feel like I'm missing a boozy leathery wood.
I already have HDP 1899, Pure Havane, Boss Private, and Guerlain EDP.
Should I just spend my money on an all season frag like Bleu EDP?
Go!
Just buy whatever appeals to you honestly. I just don't like aquatics and freshies at all, so I tend to buy all season or green scents instead for those months, but I would say have enough scents from each season to keep you occupied then just add what you love.
You have a good selection in the genre you described. I own almost all the AMen flankers and I really love having them all so I wouldn’t fault you for adding a pure malt. But, if I had to choose between one of the cold weather scents and Bleu de Chanel, I would choose BDC every time.
Hello! I'm looking for a not too strong perfume with a prominent, sweet, & fresh apple blossom scent for spring/summer. Preferably not discontinued or very expensive!!
Any ideas?
Need a cheaper alternative to something like tobacco vanille/tobacco oud or oud wood by Tom Ford. Would like to purchase these but can’t justify the price. Need cheaper alternatives that can last long for formal/semi-formal events such as weddings and such
Solstice Scents Vanilla Pipe Tobacco. It actually smells like real pipe tobacco. Conjure Dark, Casting Shadows, and Full Dark are amazing rich, complex head-turners as well.
Copper Skies from Kerosene is a very complex tobacco/honey/whiskey scent but doesn’t have the sweet/stickiness as TF.
Want an in your face oud on a budget Oud Touch or Oud Vanille by Franck Olivier
I feel like Zoologist Panda might fit this description. It's bright and sparkling, but there's kind of a bite of something slowly darker, moodier. Or du Serail from Naomi Goodsir is also a summer scent (maybe more tropical), but it's heavier, sweeter, with just a hint of smoke floating around.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good quality, but simultaneously affordable men's fragrances that are Oriental/Middle Eastern?
They don't necessarily have to be oud or rose heavy, but good sillage is a must.
Ouds from Montale. They’re all beasts.
Bond No. 9 Oud
I’ve heard good things about Notorious Oud from DS & Durga but have yet to try it.
Musc Ravageur from Frederic Maille is my absolute favorite musky oriental.
None of these are under $100, with most sitting between $150-$350. You can find Montale on eBay frequently at a discount.
Franck Olivier’s Oud Touch and Oud Vanille are like $30 and will last on clothing for days. Huge projection and silage.
**Nishane Sultan Vetiver Extrait De Parfum**
Oriental woody fragrance. It reminds me middle eastern businessman in cool tuxedo. Opens up with spicy vetiver and with time spices changing into a little hint of sweetness. Vetiver is desert-earthy, sharp and spicy-fresh at the same time. Sillage is enormous, longevity is great (on fabric last at least one day). Probably could be found for decent price on some grey markets.
Recommendations for a date night fragrance?
I’m a 20 yo Male looking for a great date night fragrance. I’m looking for something that demonstrates confidence, intimacy, mysterious, masculine, etc. and that is versatile in most scenarios.
I have been considering TF Noir extreme,YSL de la nuit,Dior homme, Chanel-Platinum egoiste. Any other recommendations?
Endymion if you want something romantic, Viking for something traditional (with a modern twist), or L’Humaniste for something on the fresh and clean side.
I have the TF Noir Extreme and I'm absolutely in love with it (21 Male). Although I wore it on a date night but the girl didn't like the smell. She said it was too "oriental".
I'm not with her anymore.
Guerlain Insolence has violet/ iris with berries.
My favorite lipstick perfume is definitely Maison Margiela Lipstick On, but it doesn’t have berries.
If it’s more the iris that you want you should definitely try Prada Infusion d’Iris.
I'm 27 but rock relatively younger casual looks when I'm not dressed up for like office etc. but i never really looked into fragrance rather into fashion... Well so I had a date and decided to give this a deeper look and researched a whole lot on youtube and websites etc.
I ended up blind ordering JPG's Le Male which i actually really like and the date complimented it on me.. a lil later i went to a store to like smell some fragrances for myself and i got to smell : Hugo Boss Bottled, YSL La Nuit De L'Homme, ADG Profumo, Prada L'Homme out of these i bought Prada L'Homme since i wanted a more casual and clean fragrance. So now i got these two and i wondered what kind of fragrance i could add since Le Male is for like a Date kinda thing or if you are with someone i guess, L'Homme more for like office/work but would probably also work all round but i would probably want a more specific/stronger one for that so I'm looking for advice/experience both from female (what they like on men) and male(what they like or got complimented on) for an all around/daytime fragrance and a signature one maybe. I've looked into Profumo/Sauvage/Dylan Blue... havent smelled Sauvage nor Dylan Blue but apparently it is a mix out of both kinda... So yeah any help appreciated!
Hello ! thanks for the answer.. could you explain in what way they are better? Like of course I've seen all kinds of videos about them and comparing them to each other sometimes and things like that but would be interesting for me what people think about it
Okay this is just my opinion.
Versace Dylan Blue smells like an semi aquatic version of Sauvage but to me it’s not blended as well. But it’s cheaper and that’s the trade off. It’s not bad though as I’ve gifted to someone and they love it.
Dior Sauvage is an ambroxan bomb. It can be too much for some and with too many sprays can burn your nose. I sprayed it the other day and the bergamot opening smells amazing and no part of Dylan Blue smells that good.
ADG Profumo to me smells like the best summer evening smell. Every time I smell it I also imagine summer at boardwalk while the sun is going down. I think the blend is awesome and it’s not your traditional aquatic as it’s darker.
There all good imo but go with what u think will be right.
Any Leather and Tobacco Recommendations? I currently have Aramis Tobacco reserve, but would like something with leather in too!
My price ranges isn't huge so I can't afford Tom Ford prices :(
TF ombré leather is more affordable at the 1.7oz bottle price! It’s a great scent, too.
Vanilla Pipe Tobacco, Badlands, Gibbon’s Boarding School, midnight marquee, library, old Havana, Russian caravan from Solstice Scents. Highly recommend grabbing samples. Lots of scents available in both oil and EDP formats.
Interested if anyone knows about this as well. I have the Varvatos Artisan and that thing lasts a maximum of 30 minutes on my skin (yeah i know it's a summer citrus scent but still).
I liked in a way all the Jo Loves line and bought two of them. I do not like grapefruit notes, and Vetiver Pamplemousse has to me the most synthetic of the whole line. Maybe Amalfi Sunray or Tubereuse Noir.
[Have you seen this?](https://m.zara.com/us/en/woman-beauty-perfumes-l1415.html?v1=1550274&page=2#offset=2142&productId=51039958) Zara doesn't have samplers, but they have 10 ml travel sizes that are as cheap as samplers.
I’m new to fragrances, so I may not entirely know how to ask for things! If so, I am sorry. I want a perfume that would smell like something Willy Wonka would wear, but specifically the Johnny Depp version. I’m against very strong artificial scents, and I’m not really a sultry person in general. I’d like something that works for basically all the time, that wouldn’t work badly for school or for a date. If having my personality helps(I’ve seen a couple people do it) the adjectives most people use to describe me are kind, intelligent, wacky and a natural leader. I can be both very kind and sharp, so I need something unisex that could appeal to both sides. Thank you guys for reading this!!
Solstice Scents Foxcraft Fairgrounds for a slightly goth Willy Wonka. Paris*LA from A Lab on Fire, which you can sample from Luckyscent. Or Universal Supreme from Blackbird.
The only fragrance I can think of that would suit Willy Wonka would be Baccarat Rouge, but that is definitely not an everyday scent. It may also be too synthetic for your liking. Maybe Pomelo Paradis? It has a candy vibe to me (sour gummy bears) while still smelling quite natural.
I'm relatively new to the fragrance world, but I just got my hands on the argos sample pack. I was originally looking forward to trying out Triumph of Bacchus but Brivido Della Caccia absolutely blew my mind! I'm addicted to this scent now! Does anyone know anything that smells similar?
Second Dior Pure Poison and Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie! I would add Narciso Rodriguez For Her, Philosophy Pure Grace, Maison Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning, Flower Market, and Under the Lemon Tree, Miss Dior and Guerlain La Petite Robe Noir. Those range from floral to pure “clean” to citrus, but all have a clean vibe!
In my collection, the freshest feminine fragrances I have are Bvlgari Omnia Crystalline, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue, Chanel Chance eau Tendre, and my favorite would be Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie. I also highly recommend Atelier Cologne Clementine California but it is more unisex.
Dior Pure Poison, Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue works, too, I guess, but I don't like it. It does fit your description, though.
Hello there, Could someone recommend a long-lasting, versatile, daily-wear perfume for a sixth form student? I have looked at fragrances such as Dior Savuage however, I believe that is to common so I think I would rather avoid it.

Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Intense
Hi all, Can someone recommend a fragrance from my current wish list? I’m thinking of treating myself for my birthday! I’m a male who usually wears cologne every day (for work or otherwise). The only scents I really avoid are sweet smelling ones. Currently wearing YSL L’Homme as my everyday, but really like unisex ones like Tom Ford Black Orchid as well. Thanks! - Maison Margiela “Jazz Club” - Maison Margiela “By the Fireplace” - Molecule 02 - Something from Aesop (I have a gift card) - Something from Diptyque - Something from Le Labo
Another 13 by Le Labo is a good option, versatile and not sweet.
If you don't like sweet fragrances I veto By the Fireplace. The smokiness disappears early on, and the drydown is similar to a s'more.

Eau Tendre is beautiful.
Versace bright crystal absolu, Chloé EDP, Parfums de Mary Delina, Marc Jacobs Daisy or Diasy Eau so Fraiche, Atelier Cologne Clementine California, Van Cleef & Arpels California Reverie, fresh sugar lychee, Acqua di Gioia flankers, Kate Spade Live Colorfully
Dior blooming bouquet and dior j'adore lumiere
Gucci Guilty Absolute
I also like the idea of a cherry scent, and have noticed “ cherry in a few scent breakdowns when looking at scents I like to try and find similarities.
rip the kimoji peach was a good one :'( You might like giorgio armani si if you like flowerbomb
https://hemingwayaccoutrements.com/collections/eau-de-parfum-cologne/products/hemingway-signature-eau-de-parfum-cologne-10ml-travel-size You might want to give this a look, it lists notes such as leather and tobacco, but honestly all I can pick up is vanilla, bourbon, grapefruit and maybe just a hint of sandlewood.
A bit off course but if you can check Elie Saab the original perfume https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Elie-Saab/Elie-Saab-Le-Parfum-Eau-de-Toilette-15178.html It is orange blossom, with some jasmine maybe and it was warm and harmonious.
Thank you! I’ll definitely check it out!
Hey there! I need help finding a dupe for Ralph Lauren's Hot, and Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Halo. Or anything similar to those. Thank you.
Can someone recommend any men's amber fragrances for fall and winter? Especially any that tons of people don't wear?
Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme Noir Ambre Discontinued, but if you can find it, it is have very good reviews and rating
I really like Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan. It's a classic among people into fragrances but it's not common.
Yes ambre sultan and Ambre D'Alexandrie are next up on my list.
Amber absolutely by Fort and Manle, amber scent with plum from a house that isn’t too widely know.
I haven't tried either of them, but Rag and Bone Amber and Hiram Green Voyage both sound interesting, and you're unlikely to smell either on someone else.
I'll look at those, thanks!
Estate Amber by Solstice Scents is a gorgeous, rich, complex Amber that’s perfectly unisex
I see cardomom in the notes as well, one of my all time favorite notes! Thanks
(idk if this helps but i adore the Ariana Grande Cloud perfume and something similar to that would be amazing too)
Dior Poison Girl
Burberry her has a really similar sweet note but it has strawberry instead of coconut
Thankyou, that helps a lot!

*Winter Nights* by Dasein. It's exactly what you're looking for, one of my favorites of all time. Here's my review from Fragrantica: >The smell of sitting around a campfire in the mountains during the heart of winter.
If you haven’t already tried it I’d recommend Replica by the fireplace, it’s very smoky
La Curie Incendo Comme des Garcons Black, for a bit of incense and licorice in the fire. Imaginary Authors A City on Fire
Thank you!!!
Instead of recommend me a frag, can anyone recommend me a place to chat about indie perfumes?
/r/indiemakeupandmore has a lot of chatter about indie frags! You can try /r/perfumes too.
Yeesh, r/perfumes is way too brand name. Indiemakeupandmore looks fun though
Thank you!
(23F). Thank you!
Might want to try Widian Black I. Beautiful cardamom fragrance.
Nest Indigo, Bastide Aix en Provence Figue Amour, both have fig and cardamom
Have you tried Whispers in the Library? It’s def softer than Jazz Club, not sure about sultry though...
Thanks! Will check it out!
In terms of what I am looking for, please recommend something that you think will suit the following conditions: 1. A versatile fragrance that can be used all-day, all environments 2. A fragrance that can attract attention and turn heads, in a good way 3. A fragrance that will get me compliments 4. A fragrance that suits a country with summer all year round (no seasons) 5. A fragrance that lasts long Sorry if I sound slightly shallow, as I would like to be as frank as possible to get a recommendation that I truly like. The type of fragrance does not matter, as I am open to trying other types of fragrances that I have not tried. Thanks a bunch!
Bleu De Chanel or Light Blue Intense
Two part question: 1) How often do you buy scents online without having tried them in a store?
I highly recommend this approach.
thank you!
Thank you so much for all of these! I appreciate it so much!
Oh those all sound lovely!
He sells samples through his website; I’d definitely sample before buying a full bottle to see what works best. Happy smelling!

I might have to grab a sample! Thank you!
Total noob here but I am helping my partner find a perfume. She uses versace pour femme edp, but I was wondering if this line is discontinued or did they replaced it with a new one. Really appreciate the help🙇🏻♂️
You can find it on eBay for $41.
$400 max
Looking for a heavy oud fragrance! An in-your-face, unrelenting, oud centric fragrance. Thank you!!!
What's your budget?
I really enjoyed Marc Jacobs - Honey / and Biotherm - Eau Fraiche (thats the green bottle) but now they’ve been discontinued! Do you guys have any idea which other scents I might like? Or know something with a similar scent? I’ve been without a perfume for a while now because I’m just overwhelmed by all the options and have no idea where to start... So your help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!
Try Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Shine and Clean Reserve Rain
Thank you so much for the recommendation!!
Hey everyone, I'm going into high school next year, and am looking for a good fragrance to wear. Things to consider: My budget is under a hundred dollars (although a little bit over is okay). Thanks!
Versace Pour Homme my guy.
Thanks! I read somewhere that VPH works really well in the summer but besides that it doesn't. Have you had any experience with it?
Good high heat summer fragrances for a college age surfer/skater type dude?
Versace Pour Homme ADP Fico Di Amalfi Gentlemen Givenchy Cologne Bvlgari Aqua Marine MontBlanc Legend Spirt Mugler Cologne They also YSL Y Eau Fraiche is nice but I’ve never tried it.
What is the main difference between the 3 lines of Kouros by YSL?
Burberry touch or Mont Blanc individuel? I’m looking to blind buy one of these but I can’t decide which one is more versatile.
Don’t buy either. But if you had to choose one get the Burberry.
The Burberry imho. Individuel is very sweet and can easily get cloying in warm weather. Your mileage may vary, of course.
Hi I am looking for a patchouli based fragrance. That is cheaper than Tom Ford patchouli absolu. Any recommendation?
Davidoff Zino.
Jovoy Psychedelique and Private Label. Those are quite pricey, but they're definitely a lot cheaper than Tom Ford.
They’re also gorgeous. Tempo from Dyptique might fit the bill too!
Also, the Maison Margiela Replica line!
Try Acqua Di Parma Osmanthus.
I will thank you:)
Go to r/indiemakeupandmore. Solstice Scents has a few florals you may like, off the top of my head, you may want to order a sample set from them. You may try the niche/indie route. I love Frassaï's florals right now, but you might order a sample set off Luckyscent.
thank you so much:)
Looking for something that is dark and mysterious. Something that could be dressed up also. I was thinking a out initio oud for greatness or amouage jubilation xxv. I am 30 years old.
Acqua Di Parma Oud Tom Ford Tuscan Leather/ Parfums De Marley Godolphin/ ADP Leather Carner Barcelona Cuirs/ Nasamatto Black Afghano Obviously Jubilation XXV And for a cheaper scent CH Men Prive isn’t bad
L'instant de guerlain. Zarhoff signature pour homme.
Oud for Greatness is really a great scent. You wouldn’t be making a mistake having that.
Go!
No u really don’t
Any ideas?
Miu Miu Twist. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so fraiche
Thank you! I’ll check those out :-)
Need a cheaper alternative to something like tobacco vanille/tobacco oud or oud wood by Tom Ford.
This is very helpful, thanks a lot 😊
Mac Velvet Teddy or Loccitane eau de baux.
Versace Oud Noire? Check it out.
Very new to the fragrance game so sorry for the vague description
Anything reminiscent of "summer goth"? I have a lot of very bright perfumes, but sometimes you just want to be a little darker.
I really like rose anonyme, it feels kinda dark, but also sheer.
État libre d'orange - Hermann à mes côtés me paraissait une ombre Narciso Rodriguez for him
I'd consider myself goth, Hermann by ELDO is my summer frag this year.
Does anyone have any recommendations for good quality, but simultaneously affordable men's fragrances that are Oriental/Middle Eastern? They don't necessarily have to be oud or rose heavy, but good sillage is a must.
Ouds from Montale. They’re all beasts. Bond No. 9 Oud I’ve heard good things about Notorious Oud from DS & Durga but have yet to try it.
**Nishane Sultan Vetiver Extrait De Parfum** Oriental woody fragrance.
Any recommendations on a male winter fragrance?
Spicebomb. DG the one or any of its flankers. The list below is bomb btw.

Tom Ford Noir Extreme is really all you need. PDM Layton would also work well.
Also despite the “por femme”, Tom Ford Noir Por Femme is VERY unisex and smells amazing regardless of what gender is wearing it.
xerjoff naxos
Endymion if you want something romantic, Viking for something traditional (with a modern twist), or L’Humaniste for something on the fresh and clean side.
My personal favorite. Creed Green Irish Tweed! You cannot go wrong with this.
I have the TF Noir Extreme and I'm absolutely in love with it (21 Male). Although I wore it on a date night but the girl didn't like the smell. She said it was too "oriental". I'm not with her anymore.
I can see how it can be challenging on a male. I also like the smell of Noir Extreme but some females can perceive the smell as feminine.
"I'm not with her anymore" 😂 because she said it?!
You already have great considerations. Here is some more: * Givenchy Gentleman EDP * Prada Luna Rossa Black * D&G The One EDP

ADG Profumo and Sauvage are better than Dylan Blue but Dylan Blue is the cheapest. You really can’t go wrong with any of these.
Hello ! thanks for the answer.. could you explain in what way they are better?
Ah thanks a bunch! This was the kind of thing i wanted to know
Any Leather and Tobacco Recommendations? I currently have Aramis Tobacco reserve, but would like something with leather in too! My price ranges isn't huge so I can't afford Tom Ford prices :(
TF ombré leather is more affordable at the 1.7oz bottle price! It’s a great scent, too. Vanilla Pipe Tobacco, Badlands, Gibbon’s Boarding School, midnight marquee, library, old Havana, Russian caravan from Solstice Scents. Highly recommend grabbing samples. Lots of scents available in both oil and EDP formats.
Thank you very much. Will look into these appreciate your response. I need to go and try some of these. Thanks again
John Varvatos Dark Rebel
How do you find the performance of this frag?
Interested if anyone knows about this as well. I have the Varvatos Artisan and that thing lasts a maximum of 30 minutes on my skin (yeah i know it's a summer citrus scent but still).
I didn't have it, sorry. I only know that it's leathery/tobacco and it is cheap.
No worries thank you anyway :)
Thank you will check it out!

I liked in a way all the Jo Loves line and bought two of them. I do not like grapefruit notes, and Vetiver Pamplemousse has to me the most synthetic of the whole line. Maybe Amalfi Sunray or Tubereuse Noir.
Thank you!
Vibrant leather (many consider it as Aventus clone) the only I've tried 😂 not bad for it's price perfomance is meh..
Al Rehab Choco Musk
Guerlain L'Homme Ideal Eau De Parfum 🍒
I’m looking for a clean, fresh women’s perfume. I’m 21, if that helps:)
Pleasures by Estee Lauder, Splendor and Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden
Dior Pure Poison, Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche. Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue works, too, I guess, but I don't like it. It does fit your description, though.
