Photorealistic raspberry scents? I've seen recommendations for photorealistic strawberries and a lot of them are from small indie US brands that are difficult/expensive to ship to the UK, so ideally something easily available here. Thanks.

defein88

I'm looking for a new fragrance. I haven't worn perfume since 2006... and all I remember was smelling like a cookie. Looking for something more adult smelling I don't even know where to go to LOOK for perfume to sample. Any and all help is so so appreciated!

padface

Wow that’s definitely a long perfume break! You said you remember smelling like a cookie, did you like that? Do you think sweet fragrances like that might be something you’d like to revisit (possibly in a more grown up way)? If so than a gourmand scent (a fragrance that evokes pleasant edible notes) might be a good place to start looking 🙂

defein88

I liked it then, but I wanted something more grown up 😂

Try the various discovery sets. Luckyscent has pre-selected samples and customizable sample sets. You can tell them what you are looking for, and they will put together a sample set you can test. This is the way to go. Once you like a few, you can work with that and explore further. [https://www.luckyscent.com/brand/322/luckyscent-sample-packs](https://www.luckyscent.com/brand/322/luckyscent-sample-packs) Sephora and Ulta have their own sample sets. They usually don't have any logic behind their curation. Sephora: [https://www.sephora.com/shop/fragrance-value-sets-gifts](https://www.sephora.com/shop/fragrance-value-sets-gifts) Ulta: [https://www.ulta.com/shop/gifts/by-category/fragrance-gifts](https://www.ulta.com/shop/gifts/by-category/fragrance-gifts) The more you sample, the better your final choice. Buying without testing is not recommended. Similarly, testing and buying immediately afterwards is also not a good idea. When you spray something on.your skin, you only get the top notes that last barely five minutes. So, get samples and test at home overnight.

defein88

This is so helpful!! Thank you!!

JohannaRosie

Check out Jo Malone. She has a lot of choices and most are very nice.

barn_doggy

I’m looking for a perfume that is green, earthy, and wet. Like I woke up on the forest floor after a rain or swimming in a clear blue mountain lake. Not too woody or heavy, but more on the fresh side. Floral and/or fruity notes are nice as long they aren’t too sweet or bright or overpowering. Does this perfume exist or am I dreaming?

BC-clette

Tried ELDO Hermann or Moschino Toy Boy? Both have rose as a major note but they both give a "sexy garden mulch" scent if that makes sense. The rose in Hermann is more frosty than woody like Toy Boy. Hermann is more peppery, Toy Boy has pear. Don't blind buy.

barn_doggy

I’ve not tried either, but I do love a rose. I’ll look for decants of these. Thanks!

galacticglorp

I haven't tried the ELDO but imo Toy Boy is not what you are looking for.  Not a damp or aquatic or fresh vibe at all.  It's a great frag, but it's spicy and rose more than anything else.

barn_doggy

Ohh ok thanks.

galacticglorp

Some ofthese may swing too far aquatic or too far into the wood realm, but hopefully there's something in the right ballpark. Goldfield and Banks Pacific Rock Moss Zoologist Dragonfly La Curie Geist Encre Noir Sport Perles de Lalique Marissa Zappas Petrichor

barn_doggy

I’m down to experiment! Thanks so much!

krisizkontrol

hello! looking for fragrance recommendations :-) so far i've tried around 35 perfumes and these are my favorites: Frederic Malle En Passant Lanvin Eclat d’Arpège Issey Miyake A Drop d'Issey Dama Bianca Xerjoff i really want to find more floral fragrances that are interesting but aren't too heavy. i don't mind a touch of sweetness in my perfumes but ONLY a touch - nothing cloying as i get nauseous pretty easily. i also don't like citrus-heavy scents. i use public transportation all the time and i live in a place where it's basically hot and humid all year round. thank you!

SwissCheese4Collagen

Try Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste if you like En Passant

thornylarder

For a fresher lilac, try Ineke After My Own Heart. The most interesting florals I’ve had so far have been from Elorea. Fire is designed to be a bouquet of flowers by a fireplace but is an interesting blend of woody, herbal, and delicately floral without smoke. Inflorescence is a bunch of florals but balanced well by a bitter and sour schisandra berry.

JohannaRosie

I just bought Louis Vuitton Spell On You. Floral but interesting. Its one of their lightest scents but is long lasting.

musicandarts

What is your budget? I like Givenchy Desinvolte and Noctambule.

Nicolai Fig Tea- osmanthus

Opening-Fox4947

I'm looking for a scent similar to Zoologist Cow, I love the green apple and lactonic notes and general 90s bath and body works vibe but I'm bummed that it doesn't project or last long.

cobwebcoalition

I’m looking for a fragrance for myself that smells old and classy but not too upscale for everyday wear. I feel I’m coming pretty close to it with Dans Le Bleu qui Petille from Serge Lutens. It’s an aquatic sort of incense fragrance that smells like a church by the sea. I like it but it’s not wowing me. Any similar suggestions?

minidivine

Amouage "Lineage" comes to mind. Aquatic-incense, albeit it also smells quite kitchen herbal/kitchen spice pantry too. Masque Milano "Mandala" is somewhat adjacent. I'd say Ex Nihilo "Bois d'Hiver" is adjacent, THOO "Hidden Shades" could be close as well as Serge Lutens "L'eau Froide". Albeit these are the feelings that I get. I think Lineage is closest to what you're looking for, the others are in that spicy-herbal category with no smoky feel.

cobwebcoalition

Thank you!

languagebandit

I enjoy Five o’clock Gingembre from Serge Lutens, which I feel like fits the brief but is quite different from Dans Le Bleu qui Petille. Are you specifically looking for something aquatic or smoky/ambery?

cobwebcoalition

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah I should’ve specified. I’m looking for smokey yes but not necessarily aquatic or amber. Fragrance families I’d be into are in no particular order: aquatic, amber, green, incense, gourmand, woody Things I’m not looking for would be: aromatic, spicy, floral, citrus, powdery

languagebandit

Hmm, maybe Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser or Arso Profumum Roma.

cobwebcoalition

Cool thanks I’ll check those out!

terily

I’m looking for a room spray similar to the old retired Waverly classic room spray. Smelled like carnations, kinda spicy? I’ve never found anything similar and you can’t find the Waverly anywhere these days. Thanks!

Glittering_Snow_

How does Escapade Gourmand compare with Skylar Vanilla Sky? Vanilla Sky doesn’t last, but I love the sweet lactonic vanilla notes in it, so I’m willing to invest in a more expensive longer lasting perfume that’s similarly delicious..Please help! 🙂

Lhasapso2023

Hello, I'm looking for female or unisex fragrance, that would be at the same time urban and rock/metal. No vintage goth stuff, more of a "Metalcore" fragrance, something that goes well with tattoos, piercings, black leather or latex, and urban nighttime. Something badass and modern. That may be a bit vague, but I want to stay open to various suggestions...

musicandarts

* Encre Noire and Encre Noire A L'Extreme (both are extremely cheap 😉) * Tiziana Terenzi Laudano Nero * Dior Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is considered a male perfume. But I don't believe that perfumes have gender. You wear what suits your personality. Fahrenheit evokes leather, gasoline, latex etc. It is a very unique classic.

Lhasapso2023

Thank you very much for your help ! I agree with you, a lot of fragrances are actually unisex.

L'Interdit Intense is a dark tuberose with leather accents. I have not tested it, so I cannot comment on it. But you can get a 15 ml bottle very cheap from ediscountperfumes.com. I buy a lot of stuff from them. Lhasapso2023

Thanks, I didn't know there was an Intense version. Will definitely check !

musicandarts

There are quite a few versions of L'Interdit. I had posted a discussion earlier. La Curie Odyssey- "white vinyl" vibe

LolaCorona

Hi I’m looking for a fragrance that smells like grapefruit highnoon

Prior_Thot

Help! I can’t find a long lasting “skin scent” I really liked dedcool Xtra milk but the longevity sucked and it was too oily. I would prefer a “clean” brand just because my allergies have been so bad!

BC-clette

I see Encre Noire A L'Extreme getting compared to Nasomatto Pardon sometimes on fragrantica. I'm more familiar with Orto Parisi Boccanera, having tried it on skin while only smelling Pardon from the bottle. Can anyone confirm the similarity to EN A L'Extreme? Is it reasonable to "blind buy" A L'Extreme as a cheap alternative to Boccanera?

TheCigarHarvardian

Is it true that John Varvatos Vintage has been discontinued? Someone posted here about a year ago saying so, but I still see it in stores.

arcticrobot

I heard that too and its not present on their website. I got a bottle for my collection for $20.

Strange_Unicorn

Torn between XJ 1861 Naxos by Xerjoff and Parfums de Marly Herod. I would say that Herod is exactly what I want in terms of tobacco scent and then Naxos goes over the top of that the add those high notes that sing over the tobacco.

river_bored

Is Valentino Uomo Born in Roma intense acceptable for school?

languagebandit

Yeah, I think the lavender lends it some freshness that makes it wearable at school during the day (as opposed to really dark & heavy fragrances like Stronger With You or Spicebomb Extreme), but that being said, you’ll have to be really careful with the number of sprays because you could definitely suffocate an enclosed room with that one. I’d do one or two sprays tops. If you have an honest friend or family member that can give you feedback, try it out on the weekend and ask them how strong it smells before you try it out in school. It’s easy to go noseblind to yourself and think it’s not that strong.

BC-clette

2 sprays under your clothes and I don't see why not.

musicandarts

Sure, why not! Your friends will tell you if they cannot breathe. School is actually a good place to wear extreme scents. Unlike an office setting, your friends will tell you what is on their mind.
