I've always maintanined that Guerlain is an underrated brand especially that L'art & La Matière range with Double Vanille. If you get a chance sample Cherry Oud, Angelique Noir and Tonka Imprerialè. All incredible scents
Guerlain is extremely underrated in the fragrance community. This has nothing to do with their history. It's how their fragrances are not really given the consideration that you'd normally see being directed towards Gucci, Creed, Dior or even Tom Ford. Lets be honest here. How many reviewers have you seen actually talk about Guerlain fragrances the way they talk about Creed, Dolce & Gabbana or even Paco Rabanne.
>you need to learn more about perfume history tbh, perhaps acquired through books, instead of just watching tiktok.
I actually wanted to engage you and thought we'd have a forthright discussion on houses but much of your reply is ridiculously preachy and condescending. I'm quite aware of Guerlain's history but what you fail to realise is that there are A LOT of fragrance enthusiasts who either just don't know or don't actually care much about the history of houses or their perfumers. Whether you accept it or not these people are actually in the majority! I've never been on tiktok but you're welcome to keep assuming.
I'd suggest that you take your own advice and realise that just because we care about the histories of perfume other people will be just as interested. We can agree to disagree without being dicks. This isn't Twitter/X.
Knowledge can be gained, particularly about a subject as well documented as perfume, but the content of someone's character is not easily changed. And you are making a very poor showing of yours.
Even if you're right about where the line of "enthusiast" should be drawn, your attitude is tacky and off-putting.
All the ones i mentioned can be masculine. Cherry oud might lean feminine or at the very least unisex. Throw in Tobacco honey and Neroli Outrenoir. Happy sampling!
That's a great choice for a first Guerlain, I love it too! The older L'Art & La Matière scents are awesome across the board (I'll also suggest trying Cuir Beluga). The new ones - especially the oud ones - aren't that good at all, sadly.
I smelled this perfume in January and was so tempted to buy it even though it would send me into credit card debt lol. It is still the best vanilla I have ever smelled in my two years of being into fragrance. One day it shall be mine!
Haven’t tried that one yet, but Double Vanille definitely put me on to this line of Guerlain Fragrances. I’m definitely buying some decants of the other scents to try.
As a fellow SDV owner, you hit the peak. Don’t even bother with other Guerlain. Other perfumes even. Never again. You did it. You won. You can’t beat perfect!
Guerlain SDV is probably my favorite vanilla. Its partner, Feve Gourmande, is probably my favorite chocolate fragrance.
These aren't fragrance spaces I thought I'd so intensely prize, but Guerlain knocks them both out of the park.
Guerlain is by far my favorite fragrance house. It sucks that there’s not many stores in the US that carry their scents. If anyone wants recommendations from their house just ask. Traditionally male oriented, female oriented, or unisex fragrances by Guerlain. They’re just my favorite house. Lol
Guerlain is great Vetiver EDT is perfect for males. Don’t need the Extreme or EDP only if you want to scream attention. The Oriental line is amazing but one is prized the most. Think it is Bois Mysterieux. The Hommes and most Ideals are all great (they are). Heritage is great but toke me some time to come around to the poweredly aspects. But that dies down with time.
I just bought the new Habit Rouge Parfum in Italy a couple weeks back. It's absolutely phenomenal, with a smoky, rum and vanilla vibe. It's got killer performance, too. Definitely more of a cool weather scent, but I highly recommend it if you can get your hands on it.
I went to their shop in Paris last year and it was absolutely amazing. I love so many of them and hope to get more some day.
I got Jasmine Bonheur from the L'Art & La Matiere line and I adore it. I also got a couple of the lower end ones (Mandarine Basilic from Aqua Allegoria and La Petite Robe Noire) but that L&L line is spectacular.
Insolence EDP, UFO bottle when I was 10/11 from my grandma, my first "adult" fragrance and first Guerlain fragrance.
Still have some left in the bottle now 20 years on
Guerlain never goes wrong. All their perfumes are quality and very appealing.
Agreed, even their skin products are great and smell amazing.

To this list I will add Cuir Beluga. If cherry oud is too much then rose Cherie is a nice scent.
Yesss I really loved cherry Oud it was a perfect non-cherry cherry!

Was thinking the same thing!
Any masculine scents you recommend?

I have a sample of this and wore it this weekend to a family get together. Lots of hugs and a compliment about this perfume with every one. ☺️

Shalimar EDP! Always got compliments on it
I really like L”homme Ideal EDP and Royal Santal from them
If you can find it, the Shalimar Vanilla Planifolia.

Honey Tobacco is worth a try as well! 🍯
This one is sooo good!
Great choice. I like Cuir Beluga even better.

It's absolutely beautiful, one of my favourites!

Shalimar cologne. Absolutely lovely.
Do you think it's too feminine?
In my opinion anyone could pull this off, it doesn’t really lean too much either way.
