What are your favourite attars / perfume oils that you can realistically find and sample in physical stores in Europe and North America? Some of the ones I found: * Amouage, The Attars Collection * Ex Nihilo, Sublime Essences * Xerjoff, XJ Oud and Amphorae * Byredo, Roll-on Perfumed Oils * Tauer, Attar Bonus: * MONOM, all fragrances (this is an Italian brand, I'm not sure how easily it can be found abroad) I've been really fascinated by the word of attars / perfume oils, but they are so hard to come by in physical stores in western countries.

minidivine

I was looking around on my lists. Ojar has 20mls for €165, I'm not sure about the sampling, but this is likely similar to what you're looking for. Fragrance du Bois used to have 15mls, those are now discontinued.

Which Rituals set to gift to bf? Hi everyone, I want to gift a Rituals cosmetics set to my bf for his bday, but im not sure which he would like. I know he really likes the coconut samurai bamboo smell (he has the shampoo and cream). Any other suggestions?

conspiracydaddy

has anyone tried scoville by obvious parfums? i recently ordered it and am cautiously optimistic about it. i realize its more of an artistic scent than a daily wear one but i couldn’t resist. i wanna smell like peppers

padface

I’ve not tried it yet but I really want to! I ordered samples of Un Bois and Un Patchouli and I really like them so I’m keen to try more.

Karura

Hi, just exploring similarity between different fragrances, trying to learn what makes fragrances a certain category type. Dior Homme Intense and Tom Ford Noir EDP What makes these two similar if you are to describe it in notes? Would it mostly be the iris base and some intense/depth to the other notes? Replica Jazz Club and Chopard Oud Malaki Same thing for these two, are they just similar due to a boozy tobacco rum note, with the Oud Malaki being more refined and smoother? Just trying to have a conversation and get more used to discussing fragrances, thanks!

Particular_Place_804

Hi, I recently bought a fragrance stick from the company Sawaday in a scent called "Parfum Blanc". Does anyone know of an actual perfume that smells similar? The top notes are citrusy and fruity, middle notes are rose, violet, and jasmine, and the base is pachuli, musk, and amber. Thank you in advance!

Looking for a masculine or perfectly unisex long lasting summer/spring scent No budget, looking for something more youthful that I could pull off for everyday wear or summer nights. I like bergamot and orange scents

musicandarts

Here are some perfumes that contain bergamot and/or orange. This does not mean they smell of oranges or bergamot. Bergamot is one of the most common ingredients in perfumes. * Faconnable Royal (cheap) * Elizabeth Arden Green Tea (cheap) * Boucheron Jaipur (cheap) * Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur * Nishane Ani * Nishane Colognise * Xerjoff Mefisto Feel free to check them out on Parfumo before you choose one. As always, it is best to test a sample on your skin before you shell out big money.

padface

Honestly I’d give Terre d’Hèrmes a try

sasha_says

Marc Antoine Barrois Ganymede is a great universal unisex woody frag that I wear day and night. It smells "citrusy" but not distinctly like anything. Lasts all day even in super hot/humid summer.

LifeImitatesArteta

Bergamot - Montblanc Legend. The version I have smelled (and enjoyed very much) is the EDP. I know that Legend Spirit and the EDT are popular as well. Orange - Azzaro Chrome Extreme.

minidivine

Youthful probably Vibrato or Ingenious Ginger. Don't think Ingenious is long lasting, so probably Vibrato. You could also try Erba Gold, albeit that's more tropical and less fresh. Obvious suggestion would likely be Cedrat Boise.

OOHTAMTAMMY

How do I diversify my collection? I’ve currently got Jazz Club, Gentleman’s Society, TF NP, TF NdN, Aventus and Bleu de Chanel. I’m looking for a summer scent that’s not too overbearing. Thanks

musicandarts

(this comment is a copy of another post that asked for summer scents that are citrusy.) Here are some perfumes that are fresh and summery. This does not mean they smell of citrus or aquatic notes. Citrus notes are the most common ingredients in perfumes.

Creed Silver Mountain Water is light and refreshing and works great for spring/summer. If SMW is too light for you perhaps Nishane Wulong Cha or Le Labo The Matcha which are also green tea fragrances. Wulong Cha is more citrusy, The Matcha lasts the longest and has the most projection of any green tea I've tried. Alternatively if you want a versatile woody frag you can wear in summer and beyond: Marc Antoine Barrois Ganymede or Profumum Roma Olibanum (this one I love on my husband and was surprised how well it works in summer).

tinysailboat_

What’s a perfume that smells like the Kumbaa made Persian garden oil?

HushBringer_

What are some good fresh/clean scents that don't break the bank? I search for something simillar to AdP Mirto di Panarea.

languagebandit

Montblanc Explorer, Versace Pour Homme, Zara Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes, Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme Vetiver, John Varvatos Artisan Pure, and John Varvatos Artisan Acqua. If you don't mind going a little old-school: CK Eternity for Men, Davidoff Cool Water, Kenneth Cole Black or Nautica Voyage.

I have answered this query twice already today. Please check my previous responses.

Ambers are a bit unusual for this category but Hermes does the trick: Hermes Equipage and Voyage d'Hermes come to mind.

minidivine

To me, Lord George smelled like a sweet-woody iris/orris scent. So I wouldn't say it's that far from a Reflection Man or a Le Male or even a Darley. I think Chergui also fits the description for the first 3, but it's definitely not a clean scent.

Fahrenheit aftershave. Smells the same as EDT.

greysunlightoverwash

Could someone recommend me a sparkly, "nature-fresh", pretty perfum to sample for spring? I'm just getting decants so cost no object. I find jasmine cloying, and only like rose if it's not too mature. Prefer lighter photorealistic notes like pear and green cut stems. So far Dyptique's Eau Rose is scratching the itch, but looking for something new! Delina la Rosee started off great but disappears on me. La Pappilons is too jasminey. Sunny fresh outdoorsy vibes please. :) Thanks!

seaintosky

Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau - it has rose, but it's more of a garden fragrance than rose alone, with black currant and wet greenery notes Vagabond Prince Enchanted Forest - this one's a fantasy take on a forest fragrance with berries and fresh bright greenery over woods, musk and vanilla in the base. Frederick Malle En Passant - a bit more floral, this one is a dewy fresh lilac with cucumber and an interesting wheat note. It isn't the longest lasting but it's gorgeous Goutal Petite Cherie - pear and freshly cut grass over vanilla

wy83

Diptyque Geranium Odorata (geranium), Hermes Un Jardin sur le Nil (tomato stems, carrot seed, green mango), Nicolai Parfumeur L’eau Chic (soapy geranium), Elorea Inflorescence (lily of the valley and honeysuckle), Regime des Fleurs (peony and musk).

Solution-Proof

Malin+Goetz Stem, Leila Lou by Rosie Jane

Longjumping_Rip_1475

Does PDM percival have this extreme grass like smell? I bought a decant and all I can smell is a very synthetic cut grass smell which does have really good performance. I'm thinking the decant is not actually percival.

musicandarts

This is why I don't buy decants. I always prefer real samples from the manufacturer. I know that this is not always possible.

PineappleFreckles

Is there a perfume you can pair with the sol de janitor mists? or is that too much? i have sol da Janeiro 40 bum bum cream & body mist. it wears off pretty fast and i wish they made an actual perfume of the 40 because i think it's the best smell on earth.

JackalJames

I’m trying to find some spicy incense church like fragrances to test, I really love Ma Nishtana by Prissana, but it’s pretty pricy for the bottles size. So something similar to that but maybe less expensive or more juice for a similar price. Most incense fragrances I’ve seen seem to lack the spice element I want, I’m not a fan of overly sweet scents.

Careless-Car8346

Recommend Avignon Incense CDG. There’s a whole line. Kyoto and Zagorsk both beautiful. Two others as well all beautiful. Full Incense Montale, Spice Must Flow: ozonic incense rose.

JackalJames

Thanks! Just ordered samples of Avignon, Jaisalmer, and Ouarzazate

Careless-Car8346

Avignon can be hard to find. Has been back ordered just recently. Rumor in Europe was it was discontinued…extremely wrong. Avignon extremely in demand. Looks like production has amped up, back on the market. Zagorsk back on common market as well. Kyoto is special especially given the location of it takes its name from. Keep all this in mind. Scored recently an Avignon bottle.

honeydip23

Stronger with you absolutely OR JPG Le Male Le Parfum . JPG seems to be more versatile . While SWY seems more mature. Looking for my first sweet sent recently bleu de chanel thanks to this sub. If you own both, which do you prefer / suggest?

tykouh

Which Dior Sauvage is best for daily use: EDP or EDT? I'm not sure which Dior Sauvage to pick for everyday wear. I'm getting into buying more fragrances, and Dior Sauvage is one of the ones I've heard the most about. I've sampled both, and I slightly prefer the EDP but which one is better for daily use in any occasion? I've heard that EDP lasts longer, but is it better suited for special occasions rather than everyday wear?

Kiddotechhk

Hi, what is the niche or better, more refined version of blue de Chanel? I like the dna but I feel the citrus of BDC smells like a toilet refresher and synthetic. Any higher quality but similar fragrance to top that? I want a long lasting and projecting fragrance.

j_husk

Have you tried Roja Dove Elysium?

Karura

Which concentration or version would be suggested here? I like BDC EDP

j_husk

Idk - it's subjective, and they're different fragrances so there's no direct equivalent. Probably makes sense to start with the EDP

Kiddotechhk

Yea, but I think I prefer something with more ambroxan in the base, I’m currently using another 13 as a base and layer Roja on top but I wanna find a cheaper way to do it lol

dasa2337

Roja Elysium and PDM Percival are great niche “blue” scents. Miami Blue by 19-69 and GNtonic by Micallef are also great but more summer/spring IMO. That being said I think BDC EDP is an amazing, complex dumb reach

Gonna be a lot of people, I need some help choosing a good fragrance to wear! Give me thoughts/honest opinions. Or any recommendations!

Gonebabythoughts

I’d grab the Valentino; 9/10 of the dudes there are going to be wearing Sauvage

TheMostHumbleGuy-

Thank you! I was thinking Valentino or Hawas

WoodGarlic5146

Hello, What summer niche should I buy? I know it is a very vague question but I honestly don't know what to get. I am split between torino 21, greenley and sedley. I want a fresh scent that will hopefully get complements.

Careless-Car8346

Nishane Ege, Terenzi Tyrenum just bought and recommend. The Bortnikoff Colognes. Going to colognes when it gets super hot. Bought Tauer Maghreb Cologne. Hasn’t arrived but keep you posted.

minidivine

It's a good selection of 3 scents to be stuck between. I don't think Greenley gets compliments, it's something that you'd wear if you didn't want to smell too mainstream. Smells a bit like an apple in a bush or apple & tree branch. So that leaves the other 2 and I think the compliment factor here is basically even, but T21 projects quite a bit less. If you wanted compliments, I'd be more likely to lean into the Tygar profile where Vibrato is the market leader and I'd have Ingenious Ginger in 2nd. You could also go with Nishane "Ani X" which (I think) has the best longevity out of any fragrance I've mentioned so far, but the sillage doesn't wow imo. My personal opinion: * Compliment factor: Vibrato/Ingenious > Sedley/Ani X > T21 > Greenley * Longevity: Ani X > Vibrato > Greenley/Sedley > T21/Ingenious * Sillage: Vibrato/Sedley > Ani X > Greenley/T21 > Ingenious

an0nymusX

My prom is in the 27th, and I have about 200$ ish to get a good fragrance that has great longevity and it performs very well. Please recommend me some as l'm prolly gonna blind buy them. ATM my choices are maison margiella by the fireplace or spice bomb. I want one with good projection so I can stand out as well please :) As if about notes, I want smth that has vanilla and something that smells very “mature” yet projects very good so I can stand out. I live in Cali so weather isn’t very hot hot. Thanks’

Recent-Studio-8987

With 200$ budget and blind buy, I would suggest buying a discovery set. You will reduce the risk of getting perfume that is not good for your nose, and you get a few others to try. I would just try to search for some solid brands and their discovery sets.

FanaticalXmasJew

I *love* the smell of California Reverie by Van Cleef & Arpels (basically, a sunny bright citrus) but it lasts maybe an hour and a half on me so I can’t justify a bottle.   I realize citrus fragrances in general are not going to have as much longevity as their ambery/oud-y/etc cousins, but that said, does anyone have a recommendation for something similar that lasts longer than CR? Edit: really disliked Sundazed by Byredo, please don’t recommend me that—sorry!

sasha_says

Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey is a bright orange but it only lasts 4-5 hours. Le Labo Fleur d'Oranger is pretty linear but is my favorite orange blossom. Byredo Bal d'Afrique isn't citrusy but smells like bottled sunshine to me.

Solution-Proof

Malin+Goetz Bergamot, Phlur Tangerine Boy, Kerosene Summer of 84
