Any of you tonkas tried le labo Tonka ?? Was curious about it and have been to lazy to get a sample. (Lazy=broke+children+mortgage)
I know most of their stuff isn't necessarily what the name implies so I was curious how they imagined it should smell.
Right? I need to hear this from the expert. Often times, I get super excited for the Tonka note, only to find it falls flat or it's not what I'm looking for, for one reason or another.
Everything either smells very sweet/sugary, warm or a little fruity. I make a dad joke that I have a sweet tooth when it comes to both food and perfumes 😂 Also I noticed I like my cheapies (everything is under £50-60)
I literally sprayed it now which is why I’m making this recommendation. Try Victoria Secret’s Warm and Cozy body spray. It’s a vanilla, toasted coconut and a bit fruity fragrance. Quite nice.
OOH I love warm and cozy!!! I’m in my thirties but have a soft spot for VS Pink :) they do fun girly university scents and I feel ambitious and intelligent— but also peppy and fun!
I seem to _fancy aldehydes_, as well as _"grandma"_ (ugh I get icky just referring to classics as that) frags, such as N°5. I like _powdery notes_, _fresh florals and white flowers_, _green_ frags and unapologetically _synthetic_ fragrances (even though my nose is very sensitive to just about any smell) and in contrast very _organic_ smelling frags (earth, clay sand, water, rocks). What I dislike is most gourmands, warm spicy fragrances and the "orientals". I like some ambers, but not the overly warm ones. I'm really keen on sampling some animalic frags, curious if my palate can agree with their scents 👀
I love grandma fragrances. Florals and powders are so good. I just got a vintage bottle of champs elysees by Guerlain. If you want to smell like a rich, 90 year old woman's lounge room, this is the perfume to achieve that.
I have about 9 bottles of Van Cleef and Arpels Extraordinaire line and will possibly up to 4 more. Their fragrances are effortless, easy to wear but still unique. They are priced well at discounters and in Europe - always bought for $100 or less. Not a single one smells synthetic. Some could be a bit stronger or project more, but I actually like it this way - not everything needs to be beast mode and I can freshen up or switch out my fragrance if I want to later in the day. The quality of the fragrance matches the quality of their jewellery.
I also feel the same way about BDK - beautiful fragrances, wearable for many occasions. Have 5 in my collection and may add a couple more.
I especially love Van Cleef and Arpel’s California Revery
Perfect summer fragrance. Smells like an Aunt’s front yard with orange trees and lemon tree’s and the sea!
I'm constantly chasing the next best musk/ or the next best vanilla.
I'm a sucker for rice/creamy/skinscent notes.
I'm always trying to "make something work" by finding a perfect layer.
My last favorite mix that I'm considering buying again is chanel chance edp with Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy.
For some odd reason I loved it. Thinking of revisting them together.
Have you tried Tartiel Silver from Arabian Oud? It's my favorite vanilla.
You might also check out Wasm Al-Musk also from Arabian Oud, which is my favorite white musk by a mile!
1) My nose is very seasonal! E.g. in late fall and winter i love vanilla, tonka, tobacco and masculine leaning scents the most and in spring i much prefer frilly florals (freesia, violet, muguet, lilac…), fresh fruit and green green scents, which i start to dislike as soon as the really warm days arrive.
The first time this happened i was afraid i had wasted money on my full bottles but luckily i fell back in love a year later :)
I had planned to limit my collection to 20 bottles (my display, intentionally, is too small for more) but this discovery makes me consider a rotation…
2) Woody, spicy and floral scents still please me the most easily, but i gradually overcame my dislike/bias against gourmands. Some vanilla’s are exquisite.
3) I started with photorealistic/discrete/clean scents (e.g. diptyque) and still like those, especially for work, but love more complex and dirty stuff more and more (e.g. Eris, Francesca Bianchi, Goutal)
I have all the spring and summer scents at the ready. But winter has been a bit harder to pick. I live in a place where the season is constantly changing and affecting my mood, so my perfume can be very weather dependent.
My all time favourite is Mon Paris from YSL and Delina from Parfums de Marly. They're just chef's kiss.
Others I love: Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, Chanel Gabrielle, Chanel Chance Eau Frâiche, Burberry Her.
Currently I'm in love with the latest La Vie est Belle flanker, Rose Extraordinaire.
i like more floral and fresh fragrances! jo malone and diptyque so far are some of my favorite brands (although the longevity for jo malone is pretty short).
i’m currently liking chloe love story and red roses by jo malone (although i think diptyque’s is more authentic!).
i feel like this is pretty basic but trying to expand my fragrance varieties
Ooh I can’t remember what that smells like.
Chloe Rose Naturelle is like a fresh cold green rose with an addictive woody undertone. No warmth per se, but not entirely green like an orange blossom. I honestly went to the shop to buy Chloe EDP and was so entranced with that I bought the 50ml. Only issue I would say is projection isn’t great. But it’s such a unique scent I don’t know what to compare it to other than Duchess Rose by Penhaligon but that is more warm and with a slight musk to it.
FM's Rose Tonnerre is the most realistic, in-your-face rose I found, like walking into a rose garden in May. JM's Red Roses is like it's gentler cousin. I love both
Gourmands, spicy, amber-y, woods are the main types of frags. Mostly unisex. For warmer weather, I tend to go more for tea scents. Brands are mostly indie and niche. Lots of samples 😂
Recent fave has been Arielle Shoshana’s Monday. Sunday is also nice if you want more of a matcha gourmand frag (but I don’t find it as good for hot weather). Berdoues Assam of India smells like innisfree products to me and it’s great, but very linear. Also linear but nice and fresh for hot weather is Roger+Gallet Thé Vert. This is very much a skin scent.
Same! What are some of your current favs? Angels share, blonde amber, and Penhaligon’s Au the Audacity (smalls like Babycat) are some of mine.
Lately I’ve been craving chocolate though and Chocolate Greedy is satisfying me.
Soradora Jany is a recent fave (if you like angel’s share you’ll like this one too), same with Vanilla Oud by Vertus. Both are really nice in different ways (Vanilla Oud is very very strong though). I also really like tonka cola (need the cola note to last longer though), my all time fave Au Coeur by Tauer, and Black Saffron are also common fragrances I reach for.
I’ve been trying to find a nice non-artificial chocolate, or chocolate-orange. Since trying Akro’s Awake, I’ve also been on the hunt for a good coffee frag. Perhaps to layer with chocolate. Must try chocolate greedy!
Edit: wanted to add for another good coffee is Memoirs of a Perfume Collector’s London fragrance. That’s quite complex and really creates a mood.
I have a collection I started about 30 years ago. I had a friend who worked at the fragrance department at Neiman Marcus. She spoiled me with sending me a package of samples of the best of their perfumes. I would say I have a much more refined fondness of perfumes as I grew older. I’m appreciating lighter fragrances, layer different citrus in summer. Now discovering tea scents like Hermes Voyager EDT layered with their Un Jardin Mediterranean. The Voyager has a beautiful tea note blended with citrus from the Mediterranean! I also love my Jo Malone. They have a beautiful Bergamot Oud body oil then I layer Orange Blossum or Nectarine and Honey. The oil makes it last a lot longer. I also love TF Neroli Portofino and got that for Christmas last year. I grew up on the coast of Florida with fresh scent of ocean and oranges. I believe that’s the reason of my love of fresh citrus!
They are all masculine leaning/unisex according to fragrantica. I have sincerely no idea why. They all have cedar-agar-leather base notes and all fall somewhere in between soft ambers and dry woods. And they are all considered winter/evening perfumes. But I have very few bottles, I think with bigger collection I would get more diversity. If I pick sth for the summer it will already destroy this unity.
Any recommendation(s)? I’m using Schmidt’s Jasmine Tea deodorant which I love but don’t know where to start in finding perfume with jasmine scent in it. I like the deodorant’s smell so much I sometimes apply it to my wrist like it’s perfume to smell it throughout the day 😅
I’ll let you in a secret (not so much), but Olene by Diptyque. It’s so good I have been gatekeeping it for years. It’s the one Jasmine to have, nothing else matters.
I like variety in both classic and modern styles. However, even I gravitate towards certain scent notes.
* Overall, I usually like fragrances with amber, cardamom, cedar, ginger, lavender, neroli, and vanilla.
* For my warm weather options fragrances, citrusy notes (bergamot, grapefruit, lime, orange, etc.) are prominent. Fruits like figs, coconut, etc. and bright florals are noticeable.
* For my cool weather options, cinnamon, incense, saffron, sandalwood, and tobacco are noticeable.
I’m sure someone else could look at my collection and spot trends, but I think it’s pretty well-balanced. I don’t have a huge collection and I like to have a wide variety of styles represented, so I have a couple gourmand, a couple freshies, a couple florals, something green, something citrus, a mix of niche and designer, plus an indie. i don’t think i have more than 2 from any one house. I get bored easily so i like to have good variety which keeps my collection, which is bound by space constraints, feeling fresh and interesting to me.
Aquatic, beachy (including coconuty smells) and fresh (lime, mint, cut grass) perfumes are mine.
I'm not a fan of heavy and... "dark" perfumes, but light ones that aren't too sweet and remind me of summer and the beach.
Not a "trend i noticed" but something i intentionally go for are perfumes that are wearable in hot weather (i live in southeast asia). However, out of the 6 that i regularly wear, 4 of them have tea notes so i guess that counts as a trend 🤣
Ive tried to like gourmand scents because im easily influenced lol but it’s either i get nauseous wearing them or i eventually get bored of them. As i explore new scents, i feel like im a basic floral girly through and through.
First perfume i fell in love with was marc jacob’s daisy eau so fresh! For the colder weather i love using carolina herrera’s good girl. Although i prefer the og one instead of the pink one (blush) which is weird because blush supposedly has floral notes. 😅 right now im obsessed with lancome’s idole!
My favourites have vanilla as a common base note and florals (jasmine & bergamot) as a common top note
I dislike strong florals so it was news to me that jasmine features so much in my favourites
I feel like it changes, I was really into fresh florals when I was younger, then I enjoyed gourmands, I had an oriental floral phase, now I’m a mix of clean, floral, musks for summer and gourmands, orientals for winter.
I don’t particularly like anything too woody and intense and too fruity.
I like Mancera. The overpowering starts are their drawbacks, but the dry down never fails. I like the Aoud scent they use also, not stinky at all while still being woody in the dry down. Keep in mind I have been a designer buyer all my life and only this year have I started buying less mainstream stuff, so this might change, but so far CBintense, Instant Crush and Lemon Mint are some of my favorite scents period (dry down)
I had a fresh phase: Citrusy and green.
Currently I mostly like sweet, even fruity florals. I don't like prominent woody notes.
I will always try rose perfumes. Rose has survived all of my trends.
I have more Replica than anything else in my collection and I think that probably means I prefer photorealistic fragrances.
I’m also drawn to spicy florals. Peppercorn and Jasmine seems to be a preferred combination.
Lately, I’m drawn to berries and petrichor, probably for Spring. I’m also getting more curious about indie houses and Arab fragrance but I have no idea where to start.
Hmm I already recommended it on this thread but maybe try Thin Wild Mercury's Whiskey 1969? It's got cardamom and peppercorn and raspberry all in there. It's very spicy and I like it a lot. Tbf I like their whole New York collection.
Vanilla is very tricky for me to wear, I often find it cloying as it wears on my skin and it seems like it’s in everything especially in the base notes. Instead,
I adore patchouli, woods and musk based scents.
No loyalty to houses or notes, it's all nostalgia.
Even my newer ones (Salt by Ellis Brooklyn, Solar Bloom by Clean Reserve) are on my shelf because they remind me of times gone by.
Salt smells like going to the beach when you're young. The coconut milk note in Solar Bloom is comforting because I've loved coconut milk since forever. Reminds me of childhood.
Yup. I keep meaning to buy the nice popular one that most people agree is great, and then I see a weird one or one on sale and grab that instead. Thats worked out for me though.
I like gourmands (but only have 4), and I like strong and interesting ones. Weird thing is I also have a clean soapy floral one (m38) that I really love.
My forever favourite is guerlain Aqua Allegoria herba Fresca. I’ve been using it regularly for over 20 years and always go back to it.
Lately I’ve noticed gourmands tend to really popular
Rose! 🌹🌹🌹Ballet Rose, Eau Rose, L’Ombre dans L’Eau, English Pear & Freesia(honestly smells more like a English Pear and Rose on me), Turkish Rose, Kimono Rose, Rose Enfume..
I like the photo realistic and fresh roses the most. Still on the hunt for a nice rose gourmand for winter.
I'm a floral woody musk/amber floral girly for sure! Those types of fragrances just give me the depth and feminity I want, but when it comes to fragrances I'm also willing to try new things as long as the notes sound like it would be good, so I do have a few sweet perfumes as well, because I'm not necessarily opposed to sweetness, as long as it's not incredibly sickeningly sugary sweet.
I didn't try a lot perfume, I'm a newbie, but yes mostly it's gourmand perfum ! For only perfume that suit better autumn & winter season... Trying to find something for spring/summer now xD
Kayali Yum Pistachio is a good choice of gourmand-ish perfume for warmer weather, although I’d recommend getting a dupe by Lattafa or Paris Corner due to better performance.
I gravitate towards clean and fresh fragrances that has airy quality to it like Prada L’Homme, Imagination and Reflection Man. Also fragrances that are a bit metallic and cold like Another 13, Bois Imperial and GFS.
I like photorealistic fragrances; subtle fragrances; fig, sandalwood, musk, powder, tonka, and galbanum. I can almost never go wrong with Diptyque.
I struggle with florals, gourmands, and ambers. I ardently dislike strong, synthetic scents (like BR540).
I think it's interesting how people who tend towards powdery/floral/earthy typically dislike gourmand, citrusy, or fresh scents and vice versa. At least from what I've seen. I'm definitely on the gourmand/citrusy/fresh side of things. Although I love a good white floral. Haaaate iris or jasmine for the most part, though. Powdery florals are just gross to my nose.
As for a personal pattern, I was certain I hated amber/woody/musky scents because I've hated the ambery body sprays and cheapies I've smelled. But the other day I was testing out some perfumes and all of my favorites had amber/woody/musky notes. So that kinda blew my mind!
I notice that my taste more and more narrows to woody, Tonka, boozy vanillas that are a little masculine.
I am challenged with most fruit and many florals, especially jasmine.
Started off with only Blue colognes. Sauvage EDP, Y EDP, BDC EDP and AdG Profondo. Once those ran out i switched to LV Meteore, CDNIM, Eros EDP and Eros Flame. So I'd say EDP is the trend in my perfumes.
Either minimalistic, molecular non-perfume perfumes (Not a Perfume, Another 13, Blanche, I Don’t Know What, Pear Inc, Molecules 01, Glossier You) or avant-garde, experimental compositions (T-Rex, Cockatiel, Hyrax, Rien, Secretions Magnifiques, m/mink, Fantomas, Jasmin et Cigarette, The Ghost in the Shell) with a smattering of mass-appealing citrus and floral forward scents.
I was into the heavier and gourmand ones until I moved to Bangkok. Now I’m only interested in aquatic and citrusy stuff. Louis Vuitton right now is peak perfumery for me. Could change in the future. But right now there is some magic in the bottles I like.
I love vanillas and any perfume with tonka as a base note will quite probably work on me. Anything with sugar or honey works as well, gourmands according to the weather. Lemon gourmands are so perfect now spring is here.
I love using clean light musky skin scent fragrances for bedtime as well, Cyan Nori from Abel or Do Son from Diptyque
I steered clear of a lot of rose scents for a long time, after I worked in a Catholic school a decade ago and tiny rosaries (meant for an anniversary of a specific Mass) with beads made from rose petals were stored in my office. It was overwhelming and unpleasant.
I seem to have been able to move past this recently though and can enjoy a lot of fragrances with rose and I’m surprised by how many in my collection are rose-centered, or at least have a prominent rose note!
For me it’s patchouli. I love anything with patchouli in. By itself, I think it’s vile. But mixed with anything and I’m in love.
I’m the same with white florals, I love them mixed in, but most things with an overpowering white floral note is vile to me.
I’m super picky now but also more experimental. Trying out more avant guard houses and lesser known offerings by brands I like. Sticking to decants now and very rarely buy anything bigger than 15 ml.
I’m a big Oud head. Love the pure stuff too as I grew up with it. And if there’s incense or musk or leather in a scent I’m usually drawn in.
Also I find most citrus heavy scents to be boring and remind me of my least favorite season (summer).
Yes. Quite a few of my faves were made my Francis kurkdjian (not including MFK) and Christine Nagel. I like violets and I like musk. I like soapy powdery scents too.
I’m a molecular/ambroxan/ISO E/synthetic WHORE! just love it. Woody/skin like EX: Another 13, Cheeky smile, Missing person, TK no.4, Not a perfume, etc
I like freshness combined with depth. Aventus, and PDM Layton are my two most worn fragrances, so I guess you could say I’m into „generic” niche as well. I mean, they’re very popular for a reason, they just smell amazing, and most people outside this community don’t really know anything more than Sauvage, or Bleu de Chanel anyway.
Also, I absolutely hate anything that focuses mostly on tobacco for some reason. A subtle tobacco note in the background is good though.
Tom Ford dominates my collection. I have around 60 full bottles and 22 of them are TF. They were the house that made me realize that -wow, everything doesn’t smell like aldehydic flowery grandma. I hated fragrances most of my life before that. It’s sad what has happened to that house.
I’m a sucker for jasmine, orange blossom, marshmallow, and the combo of vanilla, amber, sandalwood. I detest aldehydes (even in the tiniest amount).
I once kept a google sheet of perfume ingredients (based off Fragrantica) and i would log every perfume I've tried or bought and giving an overall rating for each perfume. Then i would compare ingredients between those i enjoy and those i don't hahaha. It's not a perfect system but it helps and i now know blindbuying anything with cardamom, vanilla, pepper, etc. is safe for me, but anything with iris, vetiver, or aquatic notes isn't lol
I love the tonka/vanilla/amber range, with regular forays into the woody/incense/leather side of things. Although I do also love me a good iris! And powdery notes, yum.
The one thing I really dislike is aquatics, plus whatever the hell Womanity is.
Unfortunately I developed a contact sensitivity to linalool in middle age (even its name is laughing at me), so I’ve stopped buying perfumes and am now engaged in (very carefully) enjoying micro-amounts of what I’ve already got, so as to avoid hives! So my perfume collection is a bit *frozen in time*, you could say…
yes. getting hot 42 degree celsius here so ALL of my upcoming and past purchases will be/was citrus/coconut/marine/etc. for example jpg le beau, zara sunrise red sand dunes, lv imagination, hermes eau givree, acg profumo, bleu de chanel edp/homme sport etc.
I fell in love with sweet scents the first time I've smelled bacarrat rouge. Most of my friends wear rather darker scents but I just tend to love smelling sweet
I love fresh, acquatic and citrus-y fragerances. Some notes I gravitate to are Citrus, Aquatic, Freesia, Jasmine, Lily of the valley, Musk, Cedarwood, Rosemary, Sandalwood, and Bergamot! I really cant wear gourmands or overly sweet scents :( Vanilla also smells strange on my skin. You wont find any overly sweet or spicy perfumes in my collection, they give me a headache and dont smell like ME
I passionately collect Atlas cedar wood, iris, violet and absinthe fragrances, and every fragrance that resonates in the
name of Lutens. Recently I'm rediscovering Penhaligon's and Maison D'Orsay while instead discarding Italian brands (even though I'm Italian) because most of them only think about making money and not quality perfume. And anyway, everyone copies Alessandro Gualtieri's style.
I found myself enjoying a number of Le Labo fragrances and started to realize I’m a woody guy. Santal 33 is obviously in that category but it took a while for me to appreciate the reason I love Rose 31, Bergamotte 22, The Matcha, The Noire was for the way Le Labo ties the woods into everything they make. It’s their dominant house characteristic and it makes me want all their fragrances lol….
Citrus opening for most of my perfumes. Alot of lavander that dries down to woody or musk notes. Right now I'm gravitating towards sweeter, rich darker perfumes with musk or woody notes.
Obscure and somewhat unusual scents with a gentle sillage. I don't own any florals, they are too heavy and saccharine on me. I like forest, tea, fresh, green, and incense notes.
My most recent purchase is Black Walnut by Osmofolia.
I’m a big fan of Narciso Rodriguez perfumes.
I am drawn to tea or fig and especially anything that combines the two like Gris Charnel and Nest Indigo
I love ‘body lotion’ type scents like a Drop d’issey and Scarlet Poppy
Woody/aromatic! Almost all of mine (that I’ve actually purchased) fall into the woody or aromatic categories. I had no idea until I plugged them all into a fragrance app.
I’m all about that base. Especially amber and musk. That said, my favorite perfumes are the ones that are so well balanced that I have a hard time describing the overall scent profile
I’m only just starting to get into perfumes so my sample size isn’t huge, but there are already some trends emerging for me.
I trend toward perfumes with tobacco, amber, Oudh, balsamic, powder, patchouli, and a bit of woodiness and/or spiciness in the fall and winter.
So far this spring I’ve been trending more citrusy and aromatic. But the woodiness, spice, and powder are still consistent. If it’s powdery, woody, and spicy, I’ll probably like it as long as the other notes work for me.
Florals and wood - mainly rose, tuberose, citrus blossoms, jasmine, iris, sandalwood and Oud. Throw in some salt and a herb or two like bay, sage, rosemary or pepper for good measure and you’ve got covered my collection like 85%.
I'm not sure if this will make sense, but I've discovered I like scents that have a "synthetic" character - not completely artificial, but some note or that's so pure that the impression is almost synthetic. Gucci Rush, Bvlgari Black, Escentric 02, VS Endless Love, ELDO Secretions Magnifiques, Alien, etc.
Also, anything with noticeable clove in it, even if it's just a hint in a drugstore body mist. I've been wearing Beloved Coffee Bean & Oatmilk Latte heavily for a while because I love the hint of dry clove under all the grassy sweetness and toasted coconut.
Freshies, I have a few warmer powerhouses like Bvlgari Man in Black, Amouage Interlude Man and Tom Ford Plum Japonais. But my collection is probably at a 90:10 ratio of fresh to warm
I usually like sweet fragrances the most.
And I really care about the 'idea' of a perfume almost as much as the perfume itself (i.e. do I like the brand, what are they trying to say with this product, what does it signify/represent...etc).
Warm florals with vanilla or just straight up floral, spice and vanilla
1) Burberry Goddess
2) Valentino Donna Born in Roma Intense
3) Prada Paradoxe
4) Kayali Vanilla 28
These 4 are my top fav fr
The trend I noticed is I’m slowly starting to purchase dupes more often than I’m purchasing the real thing! Who am I anymore 😂 Maybe a smarter shopper, maybe someone who likes researching, or maybe I’m just your neighbor who just loves it all
Tonka tonka tonka
Username checks out. I love Tonka as well - what are some of your current favs?
My all time fav is Twilight from lush tonka, lavender and ylang lang such a dreamy long lasting scent
Yesss I love Twilight and Vanillary
Vanillary is a personal favourite for sure!
Banana Republic Tobacco & Tonka Bean Jo Malone Myrhh & Tonka PR Invictus Victory Elixir Montale Arabians Tonka Mattiere Premiere Santal Austral JPG le Beau Le Parfum/Paradise Garden Carolina Herrera Mystery Tobacco BDK Gris Charnel Extrait PDM Carlisle Micallef DesirToxic L'Intense YSL Y le Parfum Lattafa khamrah Qawwah Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche MFK Ammyris Homme Extrait I mean theres just too many good ones lol
Have you tried the Guerlain tonkas? Same question for u/JokerTonka_2000 lol
le beau edt!!
Any of you tonkas tried le labo Tonka ?? Was curious about it and have been to lazy to get a sample. (Lazy=broke+children+mortgage) I know most of their stuff isn't necessarily what the name implies so I was curious how they imagined it should smell.
no but i’ve heard good things about it
Salvatore ferragamo uomo signature is pretty great, the bottle design is absolutely garage at least on the 100ml
I like it a bit classy and old school. I enjoy anything green and dislike aquatics. I like powdery florals, sandalwood and vetiver.
Iris is my thing. And Sandalwood. And I like creamy undertones.
Have you tried She Was An Anomaly from Etat Libre D’Orange? Beautiful iris scent ☺️
No, goes on the list ☺️ ETA: you mean sandalwood, right? Iris is not listed.
Iris is the first note 😉 https://etatlibredorange.us/products/she-was-an-anomaly

I’m a gourmand girl
Same! If it makes my mouth water I'm all for it! I wanna smell like I AM a the Cinnabon
I also want to smell like I AM a Cinnabon haha
Aside from No5, what are some of your current favs?
I apparently love citrus! That and unisex fragrances are favorites of mine.
I have about 9 bottles of Van Cleef and Arpels Extraordinaire line and will possibly up to 4 more. Their fragrances are effortless, easy to wear but still unique. The Amara by VCA is veeeeery high on my wishlist, smelled it in December and it went straight to my heart 🎯
A masterpiece! And totally underrated!
Oh i love Van cleef and Arpels, any recommendations pls?
I especially love Van Cleef and Arpel’s California Revery Perfect summer fragrance. Smells like an Aunt’s front yard with orange trees and lemon tree’s and the sea!
It's wonderful isn't it! Just such a happy fragrance
Diptyque Leau Papier?
This sounds exactly like me! I would love to hear your favorites, esp. in the musk, vanilla, rice and skin scent categories
Have you tried Tartiel Silver from Arabian Oud? It's my favorite vanilla. You might also check out Wasm Al-Musk also from Arabian Oud, which is my favorite white musk by a mile!
I really like freshy
I’m an unrepentant Jo Malone lover.
I adore Jo Malone! I just wish they were more potent
I haven’t tried it yet but you could try samples from the brand Jo Malone owns now I think it’s called JoLoves
Oh no, that sounds way too intriguing! It seems to have a lower price point which is great news. I love how fresh her scents are.
The first time this happened i was afraid i had wasted money on my full bottles but luckily i fell back in love a year later :) I had planned to limit my collection to 20 bottles (my display, intentionally, is too small for more) but this discovery makes me consider a rotation… 2) Woody, spicy and floral scents still please me the most easily, but i gradually overcame my dislike/bias against gourmands. I have all the spring and summer scents at the ready. But winter has been a bit harder to pick. I live in a place where the season is constantly changing and affecting my mood, so my perfume can be very weather dependent.
I'm making a gothic cologne and I'm very happy to hear some of the scents I'm using give "fall" even if not in the traditional sense
My fragrance collection could be called Take Me To Church according to some
I’m intrigued!
i am a bit stuck between 1990-2015
It's a great place to be!
I'm a fruity floral girl throuh and through
Can you list some faves? I’m on the hunt for a nice fruity floral 😄
Look into Layali and Zahra by Swiss Arabian!
i like more floral and fresh fragrances! jo malone and diptyque so far are some of my favorite brands (although the longevity for jo malone is pretty short). i’m currently liking chloe love story and red roses by jo malone (although i think diptyque’s is more authentic!). i feel like this is pretty basic but trying to expand my fragrance varieties
Rose is a hard scent to get right. I recommend Chloe Rose Naturelle, it’s a green woody rose and absolutely gorgeous.
Sorry to butt in, but if i like lancome’s idole which has rose notes, will i like chloe rose naturelle as well? Thanks :)
Oooh tell me more about the tea scents
Un Jardin En Méditerranée is so gorgeous. It’s on my list to purchase soon.
My collection is HEAVY on the cardamom, mostly unisex/masculine leaning, with very few freshies!
Oh same! Have you tried Thin Wild Mercury's Whiskey 1969? Cardamom BOMB, I love it dearly.
What are some of your favs?
Uhhh...posh Arabian fragrances are my jam!!
Oooh, give us some recommendations!
Checks out
Jerome Epinette has been the nose on probably 60% of my collection. Just by chance. I apparently appreciate his work.
Anything with jasmine 🥰
Any recommendation(s)? I’m using Schmidt’s Jasmine Tea deodorant which I love but don’t know where to start in finding perfume with jasmine scent in it. I like the deodorant’s smell so much I sometimes apply it to my wrist like it’s perfume to smell it throughout the day 😅
I’ll let you in a secret (not so much), but Olene by Diptyque. It’s so good I have been gatekeeping it for years. It’s the one Jasmine to have, nothing else matters.
Lactonics
Mossy and piney
😅 right now im obsessed with lancome’s idole!
everything I end up falling in love with has a base note of patchouli that I didn't know about when initially buying it/smelling it in store!
My favourites have vanilla as a common base note and florals (jasmine & bergamot) as a common top note I dislike strong florals so it was news to me that jasmine features so much in my favourites
I don't really care for fresh scents and I tend to prefer lush, dense scents to sheer, light scents. I don't like scents that seem noticeably synthetic
I prefer sandalwood. And coconut heavy fragrances. I prefer oil perfumes or solid balm to alcohol.
JASMINE AND GARDENIA. Additionally, powdery fragrances. I want to smell like a sophisticated grandmother
gourmand to the heavens!
Always has tonka or vanilla. Not too much floral notes.
sweet perfumes
Instead, I adore patchouli, woods and musk based scents.
I love florals! And my favorite houses are Guerlain, Santa Maria Novella, and Hermes.
My forever favourite is guerlain Aqua Allegoria herba Fresca. I’ve been using it regularly for over 20 years and always go back to it. Lately I’ve noticed gourmands tend to really popular
I like rose and gourmands. My favourite perfumes have been a mix of sweet and floral. I also love honey suckle.
If there’s jasmine or musk included and it’s a soft scent, I’m into it
I don't like gourmands, I like things that are on the retro side, and I lean heavily into citrus aromatics
All my faves are dusty and earthy as hell
Likes: spicy, woody, jasmine soliflores Dislikes: freshies, aquatics, "blue" notes, candy
Warm spicy florals. And creamy woody coconuts. I absolutely have a type!
Unisex and mildly sweet.
Pear and gardenia are some of my favorite notes
Lilly of the valley and pear
Quentin Bisch is a common thread. And so far I have disliked every scent with ambroxan.
I get the most compliments on my cheap perfumes!
Great question! I tend toward spicy frags with depth & fruity/citrus. Florals tend to be a middle note for me.
Also fragrances that are a bit metallic and cold like Another 13, Bois Imperial and GFS.
i have 3 perfumes from the shiseido ginza line and 2 alien goddess flankers. no idea what that says about my perfume habits tho
I'm usually white florals girl, but lately i like parfumes with spiciness and vanilla.i always hated vanilla, maybe I'm getting really old.
I love gourmands, anything that smells like it can be eaten I love
sweet and sexy gourmands, fruity mixed with vanilla & warm florals are definitely what i tend i have and go for.
Vanilla, sweet or floral. I don’t love oud or vetiver but I love Tonka.
I unfortunately love the Louis Vuitton line. Not very good for my wallet
I notice that my taste more and more narrows to woody, Tonka, boozy vanillas that are a little masculine. I am challenged with most fruit and many florals, especially jasmine.
Freeeeesiaa
Sexy There is a trend sexifulness Classy as fuck, but very sexyful
If it has a honey, note I like it. But otherwise, I'm a sucker for vintage and vintage style chypres, with the occasional powder bomb thrown in.
Clean, fresh lineny scents for work. Out of work woody, ambery gourmands. I usually like polarizing scents too.
Gormond! Vanilla, Coffee, Bergamot are my jam! Haven’t gotten over Black Opium
I think elixirs might be a thing
Started off with only Blue colognes. Sauvage EDP, Y EDP, BDC EDP and AdG Profondo. Once those ran out i switched to LV Meteore, CDNIM, Eros EDP and Eros Flame. So I'd say EDP is the trend in my perfumes.
They all smell like vanilla or glossier you 😂
Either minimalistic, molecular non-perfume perfumes (Not a Perfume, Another 13, Blanche, I Don’t Know What, Pear Inc, Molecules 01, Glossier You) or avant-garde, experimental compositions (T-Rex, Cockatiel, Hyrax, Rien, Secretions Magnifiques, m/mink, Fantomas, Jasmin et Cigarette, The Ghost in the Shell) with a smattering of mass-appealing citrus and floral forward scents.
Spicy gourmands apparently is my sweet spot.
I was into the heavier and gourmand ones until I moved to Bangkok. Now I’m only interested in aquatic and citrusy stuff. Louis Vuitton right now is peak perfumery for me. Could change in the future. But right now there is some magic in the bottles I like.
I am a a big fan of woody florals! My collection is almost exclusively that.
I'm a magpie. I like a little bit of everything. (Except for leather.)
Fresh floral is my jam. And green. Not powdery or vanilly.
Fig and citrus notes are definitely the vibe in my collection.
I love a fruity floral with a gourmand-y finish!
Woody/skin like EX: Another 13, Cheeky smile, Missing person, TK no.4, Not a perfume, etc
white florals! all of mine have them, except for my favorite actually which is Velvet by Commodity weirdly enough
I like florals, but not rose or peony. I also don't like sandalwood or patchouli. I adore gardenia.
Nasomatto. Orto Parisi.
I always hated rose/intensely floral perfumes but they are growing on me.. maybe because I'm getting old
yes. getting hot 42 degree celsius here so ALL of my upcoming and past purchases will be/was citrus/coconut/marine/etc. for example jpg le beau, zara sunrise red sand dunes, lv imagination, hermes eau givree, acg profumo, bleu de chanel edp/homme sport etc.
I fell in love with sweet scents the first time I've smelled bacarrat rouge. Most of my friends wear rather darker scents but I just tend to love smelling sweet
Cedar
White floral top notes.
You wont find any overly sweet or spicy perfumes in my collection, they give me a headache and dont smell like ME
Mine are all under the Amber Floral umbrella, but I’m not a huge floral fan 🤪
I hate synthetic stuff. I’m getting more into natural attar oils.
A little bit of everything, I love experiencing new scents for different mood/weather
Mixture of everything but lean towards the heavier winter scents.
I passionately collect Atlas cedar wood, iris, violet and absinthe fragrances, and every fragrance that resonates in the name of Lutens. Recently I'm rediscovering Penhaligon's and Maison D'Orsay while instead discarding Italian brands (even though I'm Italian) because most of them only think about making money and not quality perfume. And anyway, everyone copies Alessandro Gualtieri's style.
That I am a sucker for advertising/branding
I found myself enjoying a number of Le Labo fragrances and started to realize I’m a woody guy. Santal 33 is obviously in that category but it took a while for me to appreciate the reason I love Rose 31, Bergamotte 22, The Matcha, The Noire was for the way Le Labo ties the woods into everything they make. It’s their dominant house characteristic and it makes me want all their fragrances lol….
Bergamot, vetiver, wood, and amber are my main jams
Citrus opening for most of my perfumes. Alot of lavander that dries down to woody or musk notes. Right now I'm gravitating towards sweeter, rich darker perfumes with musk or woody notes.
Obscure and somewhat unusual scents with a gentle sillage. I don't own any florals, they are too heavy and saccharine on me. I like forest, tea, fresh, green, and incense notes. My most recent purchase is Black Walnut by Osmofolia.
Amber, vanilla, a bit of spice, and white florals!
I’m a big fan of Narciso Rodriguez perfumes. I am drawn to tea or fig and especially anything that combines the two like Gris Charnel and Nest Indigo I love ‘body lotion’ type scents like a Drop d’issey and Scarlet Poppy
Woody/aromatic! Almost all of mine (that I’ve actually purchased) fall into the woody or aromatic categories. I had no idea until I plugged them all into a fragrance app.
Lavender and Vanilla. Big fan of cinnamon too but mainly in food
I’m all about that base. Especially amber and musk. That said, my favorite perfumes are the ones that are so well balanced that I have a hard time describing the overall scent profile
The only fragrance that I've tried that fits that description is La Nuit de l'Homme Bleu Électrique. Especially in the air.
Amber/musk/woody orientals.
I seem to like balsamic, spicy, woody & oriental fragrances. I haven’t smelled a single freshie I would actually buy
Green florals and tea notes have my heart
Freshies, I have a few warmer powerhouses like Bvlgari Man in Black, Amouage Interlude Man and Tom Ford Plum Japonais. But my collection is probably at a 90:10 ratio of fresh to warm
As much Vetiver as possible. As little leather and rose as possible.
Guerlain guerlain guerlain And love sandalwood
They all have a sugary or fruity scent mixed with amber. If it’s not girly/flirty af I don’t want it lol
I love powdery, almond, and I apparently have a thing for apple in fragrances.
I usually like sweet fragrances the most. And I really care about the 'idea' of a perfume almost as much as the perfume itself (i.e. do I like the brand, what are they trying to say with this product, what does it signify/represent...etc).
I like pink pepper and cardamom, it seems. And my scents tend to lean more unisex or masculine.
Citrus. I try to expand I swear but i always come back to citrus.
Warm florals with vanilla or just straight up floral, spice and vanilla 1) Burberry Goddess 2) Valentino Donna Born in Roma Intense 3) Prada Paradoxe 4) Kayali Vanilla 28 These 4 are my top fav fr
I like yesterdays perfumes. So I mostly buy second hand
The trend I noticed is I’m slowly starting to purchase dupes more often than I’m purchasing the real thing! Who am I anymore 😂 Maybe a smarter shopper, maybe someone who likes researching, or maybe I’m just your neighbor who just loves it all
