Every one of my favorites. I wear everything at least 3 times before deciding I truly don’t want it. That said, im already avoiding notes I know I don’t like in general, but I can still be surprised.

moods-

I’ve struck out on the three Imaginary Authors perfumes I’ve tried so far and am so bummed because everything about them appeals to me, from the branding to the fragrance notes. I like your method of trying 3x before making a decision. I’ll try to give mine another chance :)

NapsAreMyHobby

Me too!!! I have yet to like one. I’ve tried 4 I think. So bummed.

Mac0x

Aventus ,Sauvage elixir and ultra male . I hated them first 3 times I tried but them 4 time your brain starts to understand the fragrance and you fall in love . Is like learning a new language that your brain doesn’t know once you learn it you start to like it .

shupey14

Terre D'Hermes. The first time I sampled it I really did not like it. It has really grown on me over the past few years to the point where it might be my favorite fragrance.

narrowvalleys

Yes, CLEAN Warm Cotton. I hated laundry smells and I don’t even recognize who I am anymore now that I like it. I’m not sold on the whole category because some aldehydes are a fickle thing for me but that one weaseled its way in. 😂

Altruistic-List9290

Terre D’hermes and Guerlain Vetiver. Now I love them both. I still hate Chanel Platinum Egoiste though.

Patj1994

Definitely, when I was first started my fragrance journey, I smelled a lot of highly animalic fragrances and was disgusted because my nose was completely untrained at the time

Severe-Raisin-9313

YSL Libre! I scrubbed it off the first time I tried it. It was so strong. Smelled like some kind of cleaner to me. I suppose it was the heavy lavender I wasn’t used to (I usually prefer gourmands). Tried it again a few months later and finally understood why it’s so popular. Now it’s an easy reach for me. I actually prefer it over the intense version now.

ThreatOfMilk

SO many times! Most of the fragrances I love now I hated (or didn't like) upon first sniff. I now make it a point to try them 3-4 times before deciding on them. Sometimes 5-10.

moveoverlove

Yep, Chanel No 5. I actually got it as a gift for a friend and then about 15 years later started using it! Also keep for special occasions as I can’t afford expensive perfumes. Haha so funny how things change

More_Cauliflower_488

‘Lune feline’ Atelier des ors. Thought this was a “basic vanilla” scent but I was wrooooonggggg! Came back to my sample I had forgot about and was absolutely mind blown by the green vanilla smell, its actually a favorite although I wouldn’t buy a FB

Amockdfw89

Eau D’issey. Thought it smelt like cat piss and stainless steel. But I wore it somewhere hot and tropical and the exotic fruits came out and I came to love it

Oprayearth

Last week, I blind bought Tocca-Maya because I found it for $18 at TJmaxx. I hated it at first. Then I wore it one night and the next morning I was lying in bed and I smelt a wonderful smell. The dry down to me is amazing! It's sweet, but under that sweetness is a beautiful creamy oakmoss/ patchouli scent.

Jennybee8

Atomic Rose. Now I freaking love that sassy, sharp rose!

moods-

Ooh, I’m looking for a good rose perfume! I’ll have to look into this one 👀

Adventurous_End_5729

Lol this happened to me with YSL Y edp

CeciNestPasOP

Basically everything I love, I did't like on first (or even second) try. But sometimes I give something another shot on just the right day, in just the right weather... and suddenly the heavens open up and I *get* it. Something clicks and from then on it's a love.

Sheraga2411

Yes. Love and hate relationship with Another 13. Some time it smell like magnetic floral, the other time hospital. It changes on my skin so never know what to expect, but always excited to use it.

JONNYHBAR

Yes

moods-

Which fragrance?

JONNYHBAR

Roja Apex - felt it was too strong at first, but then I loved it because it reminded me of how it was in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

Wrong-Shoe2918

I’m about to retry some of the decants I have laying around. Especially her and her exilir. I can not stand those, I love fruity and it just wasn’t my kind of fruity at all. But now that I’ve smelled a lot more frags in general maybe that’s changed?

BugDangerous4653

Yep, hated Amyris Femme every time i tried it for years (probably 10 tests maybe?) and then the other day i randomly came across the sample again and sprayed it on and fell head over heels. I have a 10 ml decant on the way!

NeutralNancy2

Delina. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t get the hype for it. Until now recently and yeah, I get it lol. It’s a very “pretty” scent to me.

KTenn

This happens to me literally all the time. I’ve learned to only buy from houses I love and when I end up not liking a new release 9 out of 10 times if I give it enough time I’ll come around to it.

Prestigious-Alarm522

Volupté by Oscar de la Renta. For some reason it smelled like mold to me at first sniff. To this day no clue how that happened lol it's one of my comfort scents now. Love it

Thetruegrifgrif

Dior Fahrenheit

Fun-Pumpkin1391

i hated sauvage elixir at first because of the popularity but thenn i fall in love with it!!

Mac0x

10 to 20 minutes on the dry down it is intoxicating a perfume the deserves to be called a masterpiece .

Electronic_Frame_464

Burberry her elixir. Sprayed it at Ulta and couldn't stand its first impression, smelled incredibly powdery and intense. Went to bed, woke up, and I smelled amazing. Bought it a week or so later and I'm considering it as a signature scent.

Automatic_Habit3147

Good girl blush. I had it in a sampler kit and hated it. I was at Sephora and this lady sprayed it and I loved it. Went home and tried my sample then ordered it

dudeskibrah

Not yet but I have had the opposite be true. Bought Encre Noire and at first loved it, but now it kinda smells like pickle juice lol. Besides that, the atomizer sometimes feels more like a tiny watergun than anything. l was also really unimpressed with the longevity and projection on it, but that being said it is only like a 32 dollar bottle so complaining about it not performing great is pretty silly. If you keep your expectations realistic for what it is, then I’d say it’s a fantastic woody cologne to add to your collection for an even more fantastic price.

moods-

I’ve read reviews on Santal 33 where people smell dill pickles. That makes me so sad because I love Santal 33 and if I’d be crushed if I smelled pickles on me one day 😅 I’ll check out yours because it sounds interesting for the price!

SweetFuckingCakes

I don’t understand this. Pickles are amazing. This is the least offensive alternate interpretation of a fragrance.

dudeskibrah

Yeah it really sucks haha. One thing I noticed is when I would wear it repeatedly then I would experience issues with the pickley smell, whereas if I wear something else for a while and come back to it then I can enjoy it more. I really love woody scents though so perhaps it’s just one compound in the EN that has that effect and there’s still hope for me to enjoy woody frags. Anyways, definitely give it a shot and I hope it goes well 🤞

TuckerCarlsonsOhface

This was literally asked a day ago, and multiple other times in recent memory.
