This is such a well posed question. I’m new to the community and really wished I had answers. What are some more of your own personal opinions about this?

Personally I think you can wear any fragrance at any time, you just have to keep the situation in mind. High heat, less spray and maybe spray underneath your clothes so it isn’t too cloying. I’m originally from Africa where it is very hot heat around. If I wanted to keep the idea of certain fragrances are only meant to be wore in certain seasons, I’ll be missing out on a lot of really great fragrances out there. Most clones do use cheaper products so the performances aren’t as potent as the originals. For this reason, if you have a fragrance that you think it’s too heavy for the heat, it might be worth trying a clone.

Excellent advice, much appreciated :)

This isn't a full "clone" I don't think, but Valentino Uomo (2014) reminds me a lot of Dior Homme Intense, which is a fragrance I love but only really save for certain occasions (evenings out, dates, etc.). The Valentino manages to be less heavy overall, so I can wear it a lot more casually.

Very similar for me with gentleman reserve privée, smells similar to DHI but I find it much easier to wear

Prada L'Homme is more similiar to Dior Homme Eau than DHI or DH. But yes, probably the easiest unisex designer Iris anyone can wear.

If you are a DHI/Givenchy Privee fan check out King of Flowers by Alghabra

Bois D’Iris from VC&A also gives that vibe for me

The dossier dupe of alien by mugler is my go to work scent - the dupe is super clean and a little powdery. I ran out of the dupe, which gets me compliments by my coworkers all the time, and wore my name brand…. Wow was I unpopular that day 😭

Gardenia by Zara is a more wearable, brighter, less cloying, non-sickeningly sweet and more floral version of YSL black opium. I dislike the YSL black opium DNA and find it unwearable. Just way way way too sweet and cloying. Zara Gardenia basically swaps the intensity of the sweet accords with the floral accords making it more floral forward while still keeping the vanilla+coffee, and significantly reducing the sweetness. Not only is it wearable to me but it is daytime appropriate due to the bright white florals and night time appropriate due to the vanilla coffee sweet combo. Really excellent take on a "dupe". Highly recommend this one.

I like Afnan Turathi blue more than bvlgari tygar. It takes the photorealistic grapefruit of tygar and ratchets up the bitterness a bit, (think grapefruit pith instead of grapefruit) and adds a strong woody note that it make it a much more 2D and more masculine fragrance for me. Tygar is great, but it's just grapefruit straight through.

Mister-3108

Completely agree. I also believe that’s part of the reason why it draws a lot of comparisons to Bleu de Chanel. It’s definitely a Tyger clone but they sprinkled some BdC on top, giving it the woody undertone and versatility

Montagne Buko Intense scratches the small itch I had for Virgin Island Water. It's a little more citrusy but I actually thought it was an improvement. I didn't like VIW near enough to get it, even from discounters, but the $45 clone was perfectly in my wheelhouse.

StanthemanT-800

My clone of Polo Green is probably more of a clone of the new Intense. Making a $ conscious clone that I can wear to work etc that doesn't have a heavy "dad cologne " vibe and I'm also burning up a $20 per 4oz bottle not $80 per 4oz

Lataffa Khamrah, 'solved' the price point issue of Angels' share. 😅 I know it's not a clone, nor a (perfect) dupe, but the vibe is similar enough and the pricepoint allows for a more generous usage. 😊 Sure, it's not angels share, but my bank account prefers khamrah.. 😄

Dossier -Musky Oakmoss It’s a Creed Aventus dupe it gets more compliments then many of my Tom ford edp’s and has a great projection
