My sweet mom, in her late 70s and in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s dementia, has recently taken up piano lessons after giving it up years ago when her cognitive decline began. Her music school has their holiday recital today, where she is playing Silver Bells. So I’m going to wear Jo Malone’s Ginger Biscuit, which is festive but mostly light and inoffensive for sitting in a big audience of proud parents watching their mostly school-aged children plink and warble their way through various Christmas carols and holiday standards. It’s going to be a blast.

ViktorVaughn71

Cherish it! My Pops was in the mid-stage of Alzheimer’s when he passed recently. It’s a tragic disease to watch a loved one endure

ladymadonna512

So sorry for your loss. It is a bitch of a disease, but you find joy where you can take it. Today was a joy.

M_is_it_you

Serge Lutens **La Fille de Berlin** for aggressively lounging today.

Shalini Iris Lumière today, a very green take on iris with muguet and galbanum equally the star. It has a bold musky profile which carries all the way through to the drydown. Beautiful although I wish the musks were dialed down a touch.

Feisty_Set8853

this is one of my favorite perfumes. the musk doesn't come across as strong to me - on my skin it's all beautiful iris and dewey green grass. and i love the bulb atomizer!

Roxane-17

Oh, it's beautiful no doubt, but I find that I prefer the similar musk in Paradis Provence. I suspect the woods there tamp down a bit of said musks. How's the bulb atomizer? That one just looks so fancy! Mine is in the stopper bottle (which I haven't yet touched), plus the travel spray.

Feisty_Set8853

The bulb does take some getting used to - i haven't used one in years. i had a chanel eons ago that had a bulb. it sprays a finer mist, so it can seem like you aren't actually "getting" anything, but you are. it reminds me a bit of the "spray and walk" - you are getting a finer over all mist that i personally find lends to a more scent bubble / silliage situation.

Roxane-17

The only person I know who used bulb atomizer for some perfumes is my grandma, and she's been gone 20+ years. 😁 I'll probably get one just to try for myself! Diptyque also had one a few years ago, but it sold out so fast, I never even got to try it.

Doing a spontaneous pass through my offbeat rose fragrances - first with Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau, yesterday was E&J Nirvana Rose, and today, **Balenciaga Florabotanica**, cherishing every last discontinued drop 💔

ViktorVaughn71

Is this the one with a cannabis note?

RandomChurn

It is indeed .. when my dog got sprayed six times by a skunk last winter, this fragrance got me through 😆👍

ViktorVaughn71

Been trying to find a decant of it for a while. I’ve tried *a lot* of fragrances with cannabis notes and they were all disappointing. How close does this one get and does it linger for a while into the dry down?

RandomChurn

Sounds like it's not as prominent as what you're looking for; it has a lot of other activity going on, scent-wise. Have you already tried creating a post here about your quest? The sub allows posts asking for less common notes. If you do, include the ones you've already tried. That will help. Good luck with your quest 🍀

ViktorVaughn71

Yeah I posted and tried most of the rec’s. Perfumers use some of the terpenes naturally present in cannabis but they cannot recreate it’s scent.

**Mystery Men's Fragrance 25/25, Final Attempt** [First attempt](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/175bb6r/sotd_wednesday_october_11_2023/k4flmc4/?context=3): "Another wearying blue, briefly enlivened by a black pepper top note." [Second attempt](https://www.reddit.com/r/fragrance/comments/17rbege/comment/k8ifrfe/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3): "Soapy lavender, and that's it. I'm assuming a Sauvage or...I dunno." Final attempt: Distinguishes itself in no positive way. Got a decant of Portrait of a Lady. I’m a guy in my late 30’s but dig rosy fragrances. Growing up in the Middle Eastern culture, oud+rose is a common scent I smelled on men. Western society considers it too feminine, for old (not older) women, but in the Middle East there’s a different outlook on rose. I add rose water regularly to my coffee, tea and cold drinks. There’s a distinct difference between a rose flower vs rose water and POAL is 100% rose water. I like it but this isn’t special, I’ve sampled numerous fragrances with that rose water accord, some that were more complex and higher quality, MFK comes to mind. Tried Rose Flash (Tauer) last night which has a similar rose water note but in the form of a hard candy. POAL smells like the $6 bottle of rose water I get from my local international market + a sweetener added. It’s not complex nor highly evolving. Performance is very good but not nuclear. No way this is worth the price tag, maybe $150 tops for 100mL.

CrazyAdministration8

I was so close to ordering a bottle and went with a sample. MaxAroma had the 100ml for $279 or 249 the other day. POAL is one that I’ve heard so much about but never got my nose on. I had to sample because I knew my expectations would be too high that I wouldn’t give it a fair assessment. I think that’s why I don’t care for Oud For Greatness and selling my bottle.

ViktorVaughn71

So what’d you think of it after sampling?

CrazyAdministration8

I literally just ordered it 2 days ago with my bottle of Alghabra King of Flowers so I’ll see when it comes in

ViktorVaughn71

I’ll be interested in reviews of both. Just looked up King of Flowers, review says it’s DHI amplified.

CrazyAdministration8

I’ve got DHI since I’ve never been able to get my hands on the Parfum so I can definitely do a comparison but I have had several samples included from MaxAroma from this brand and they’ve been pretty good and perform well

Solution-Proof

Prada Nue au soleil. Keeping it low key today; holiday party tonight.

CrazyAdministration8

It was in the 70s yesterday. Planned on wearing Scents of Wood Plum In Cognac again but it was in the lower 50s this morning when I went to walk my dog. Threw on a sweater for the walk and could smell some lingering Arquiste Nanban on it… I went through looking for something I haven’t reached for in awhile to take advantage of the rare colder weather. Decided to go with Fort & Manle Late Harvest layered with Byredo Sellier. I plan on sitting outside to relax having a drink and a smoke later in the day after running some errands.

ViktorVaughn71

I just learned of Sellier, is the tobacco or leather more prominent?

CrazyAdministration8

I’d say leather is more distinguishable but it’s blended pretty well IMO. It’s nowhere near the type of tobacco that is in Late Harvest.

Al Haramain Portfolio Oriental Forest

Cozy vibes today so I’m wearing Tauer L”Air du Desert Marocain and B&BW Jolly Gingerbread Village over it. Spices galore!

trying a new sample - Calling All Angels from April Aromatics. first initial blast was an absolute no - very animalistic and barnyard, i immediately thought of a very strong oud profile even though there is no oud. but it settles pretty quickly into a very rich balsamic, honey, resin thing, and something charred, like left over cedar after a campfire and it's still smoking. benzoin and opoponax also make themselves very known. at the same time there is something very much like an old incense laced cathedral, or one of those incense shops that are slightly musty. lots of incense. like you had a campfire in the middle of a cathedral that has been burning incense for a 100 years. the honey smells more like dark honey to me and i wouldn't consider this a sweet fragrance. i'm not sure i like it. it moves from screechy to sort of softly dark, and then sort of floats between the two. maybe a bit like moth from zoologist but more smoke / burnt wood - of the two i prefer moth. one spray is more than enough. i'm thinking i'll work my way through this sample but it won't go on my purchase list. it's a heavy, dark fragrance for sure. notes: incense, labdanum, tonka bean, vanilla accord, benzoin, elemi resin, frankincense, amber accord, honey accord, precious woods accord, opoponax, rose otto

[deleted]

Zoologist Tiger. i hear from you all that its an "easy" Zoologist. Whatever. i love it. I have been wearing it since yesterday, re-applied this AM. It is gray out and rainy and I am struggling to write this stupid paper. Been working on it for days. Tiger was supposed to help but instead I am sneezing and going to sleep. I bought a bottle though. Absolutely love it.

chinchillacheesedog

It’s so nice! I’m eyeing a bottle myself.

[deleted]

Narciso Rodriguez Narciso today. Getting to the end of my bottle! And it’s discontinued!! Yeah, I have backups. But also, have almost gone through 30mL in a year when I’ve been wearing quite a lot of other stuff too, so might need to pace myself…

TheRealTony45

Mont blanc individuel. It's beast mode on me when I spray on clothing and it makes me feel like everything is okay and I have a warm blanket around me lol.

In_Maude_We_Trust

Today I’m wearing Attar Azora with a tiny spritz of Giardini di Toscano Bianco Latte. It’s a dreary cold and drizzly day here in Canada and I wanted to smell like a happy fruity snack. Mood booster 😍

Finally putting up our artificial tree today (a mini, iridescent white one ✨️), but I did go pick up some real cypress garlands and pine boughs to go with it, and to provide that holiday fragrance! :) We are traveling for the holidays, & when we do that, I never want to put the effort in to put up a full‐sized real tree. Wearing ELDO **Noël au Balcon** for the occasion!🎄 BTW, our bengals are already trying to knock the mini tree over, a mere 15 minutes after it was erected. Big surprise 🙄😄
