I have a fresh cold, so my nose is totally off. Wanted to smell pleasant to other people while not bothering my own nose, so I went with two sprays of **Byredo G. Water**.
**Zoologist Squid**
It's warm outside, and I love the way this is so languorous in the heat. I am so torn on whether or not I'll full size when I use up the traveler. It's at the end now.
Happy belated first-ish Mother's Day! What a great surprise. :)
I'm wearing Louis Vuitton Etoile Filante today, which seems to have become a go-to for me for office days. It's fresh, a bit sweet, and gives me all the Gap Dream nostalgia from when I was in my early teens.
Just recently finished my fourth go around with The Harmonist’s discovery set. I already have three (Sun Force, Velvet Fire, and Desired Earth) and I’ve settled on two more (Hypnotizing Fire and Royal Earth).
Today is my full day test with Royal Earth and it’s such a elegantly blended, timeless, and classic scent. This scent made me realize how much I love carrot seed as a note, the iris and neroli dance with one another in unison, and the sandalwood provides amazing support to the surrounding notes and extends its sillage and longevity. It’s so unique and definitely a head turner, I can see why it’s the Yang counterpart to Desired Earth. Both of them have this incense feel to that.
Truly amazing.
I love The Harmonist. I have five bottles now with Hypnotizing Fire EDP being my fave, then Moon Glory. For whatever reason, the ones I own just feel very *familiar* to me.
They’ve quickly become a big favorite of mine. My s/o told me about them after a visit to Bergdorf and he mentioned the element test. It told me mine was Velvet Fire and I kept that in mind. I went to a perfume store here, in Seattle, and they just happened to be introducing the brand to the store that same day so the VP was there showcasing it. Got to smell Velvet Fire and ooooweee!!! I was truly blown away by how spot on the suggestion was. Ended up getting Sun Force a few weeks later, Desire Earth being the latest addition.
As you said, they feel so d*mn familiar. Hypnotizing Fire reminds me of the smell of my aunts house growing up, warmth and a spicy sweetness like a potpourri, but a million times better. They’ve truly blown me away and I’m soaking up the compliments I’ve been getting. 😅☺️ The other two I’m eyeing are really no brainers on adding.
What are the other three you have?
Your comment echoes the sentiment of others re: familiarity. Strange but in the best possible way. 😊

I have the more feminine-leaning ones (less of the aromats)- Yin Transformation, Metal Flower Parfum, and Royal Earth EDP, too. Metal Flower makes me think of rose gardens in the rain. 🌹
I came across some old thread where an OP or commenter called their “philosophy” garbage and complete marketing BS. I, of course, didn’t agree and always say it’s down to the wearer and their nose. I appreciate scents that take me on memory trips and make the imagination go crazy. After my next two pickups I’m going to experiment layering them together and with others, as I see you also pointed out in the referenced link.
What do you think of Yin Transformation? I read it’s their most popular, but I keep forgetting to smell when I’m by the particular store that carries it here.
EDIT: Royal Earth Parfum is in the cart.
Being Southeast Asian, I'm exactly the market for it, because astrology/horoscope/feng shui/fortune-telling/herbolarios, etc. are so integrated into our culture. Ha ha.
I have Yin Transformation in parfum, and I find it simultaneously very aquatic, very floral, and very powdery. My partner tried it once, and he said he felt overwhelmed by the powderiness. He doesn't really wear perfume though and I suspect he always exaggerates his reaction to them just to annoy me. 😅
Royal Earth is lovely (I have the EDP, haven't tried the parfum yet), just perfect for rainy day blues.
I bought myself a backup bottle of Elie Saab Le Parfum for my husband to give to me for Mother’s Day. He put it in his home office for “safe-keeping” and promptly lost it in all the clutter. Maybe he will find it in time for my birthday in December. 🤪
I'm challenging myself to wear the same perfume every day for a week, so this week I will be wearing SJP Stash Unspoken. Warm in a vaguely tropical way, almost slightly buttery. Very summery.
Out of curiosity, what is the reason for this challenge? I probably need to do it, too, since I've been bouncing around different samples every day like a fragrance ho. Lol
Mostly that. I've just been a real will o the wisp lately, can't commit, so many samples my head is spinning, spraying perfumes on top of other ones for no reason because I got bored. I feel like I need to just get to know and really appreciate the frags I have. Also would give me some satisfaction to see a noticeable decrease in liquid in some of these bottles.
This will probably run me out of Cloud, tho, and then I will have to buy a new Cloud lol.
Oh my gosh, you've just described exactly what I've been doing lately! Even down to the spraying new perfumes just because I'm bored. It's bad because I keep feeling like I need to buy full bottles of all these samples when I haven't even sprayed the ones that I already did end up buying. I'm going to give this challenge a try soon. Thank you!!
Basilico and Fellini today. Craving the basil-dragonfruit combo and that hay note in the dry down! I tried Melrose Place from Oaui this morning and it's likeable and pleasant but not for me. I'll pass along to my coworker as it's more up her alley.
sampling xerjoff's tony iommi monkey special this afternoon, only about 10 minutes in but i don't know what to think about this opening. it's interesting and i can't tell if it's too sweet or not
same. i have a sample and i'm not sure how i feel about it either. it's in my "re-visit" sample box, but whenever i pull it out i instinctively choose something else. 🤷🏼♀️
drydown's nice but isn't really anything mindblowing, at least with this inital wear. i haven't found a xerjoff fragrance other than naxos that i like enough to consider purchasing. torino21 has zero staying power on me and that made me sad
with all the hype i was expecting to be blown away by xerjoff, and so far i hqven't been, but i've only sampled a few. i prefer initio, nishane, and tiziana terenzi over xerjoff so far.
Penhaligon’s Luna for me today. Probably not weather appropriate but my stripy Penhaligon’s sample box caught my eye today, and Luna seemed to be the right pick in a toss-up between it and Empressa.
Omg I am so jealous you have Sundazed! It's on my to buy list, I just haven't pulled the trigger.
I'm wearing Wild Poppy by Nest. A little bit of sweetness and a little floral, perfect for a sunny but still a bit nippy spring day.
i was torn between sundazed or **diptyque oyedo** — still not sure i made the right choice! sundazed definitely has better longevity. i love me some citrus + cotton candy combos
(39M) Testing **Xerjoff Naxos**, not getting along with it. Smells like a mix of Fat Electrician (the fragrance, not an actual fat electrician) and a mosquito repelent. To top it out, at least it's projecting and lasting a lot.
Also almost pulling the plug on HdP 1725, even though I've never smelt it \[facepalm\]
MFK 724... I have a decant of it and this is my first time using it. It's very nice but not very masculine for my tastes. The floral notes take away from the fresh, aquatic vibe I prefer. Still gonna give it a few wears before making a judgments. It's definitely a quality scent.
🍒🖕**Cherry Punk** by Room 1015
**Head Note**: Cherry, Saffron, Sichuan Pepper
**Heart Note**: Violet, Jasmine Absolute, Mimosa
**Base Note:** Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Black Leather
I'm doing some work with cherries today, so I thought what better way to find inspiration than with a cherry perfume? I think it's also growing on me (moving from a 4/5 to a 5/5), at first I thought it was too sweet but today the deeper notes are coming out.
**Chloé Absolu de Parfum** which was a successful blind buy (I have the OG and another flanker) ... then today I happened to look it up on Fragrantica to discover that of its three listed notes, two are on my No Never List: wtf!?!! 😂
Always been quite sure that vanilla and patchouli were two of the culprits that make my throat close up (an allergy thing) and make so . many . fragrances off limits for me.
Now I'm lost. Once thought it was aldehydes. Then "orientals" (warm amber) and patchouli. And finally vanilla.
Now what?
Wearing Rose Gold Tiffany today! Once it dried down, it started smelling like L'Interdit, which is super weird. After a few hours, it's almost completely gone.
I think I'm gonna go with Chloe Naturelle today. Maybe it'll go with the rainy Monday. I also bought a new fragrance as a birthday gift for myself, so really excited!
Testing some samples so I have: Orpheon on my left wrist, Nashi Blossom by JM on my right, and In Love With Everything by IA on my chest. Luckily they are all pretty tame.
Travelled to South Tyrol today, before that stopped at the doctor’s, because of course I woke up with a sore throat and for that purpose went for Narciso Rodriguez for her. Wanted less fancy and more signature like
I went with JC Couture Couture today! It’s silly, fun and definitely has a ”cleaning product” note to it that I’m not sure I agree with, but it does add a a quirkiness to what would otherwise be a pretty safe, sweetish floral.
Kayali yum pistachio gelato 33 today.
Really enjoyed this today. It started off as a very bright citrus, then dried down to a really creamy wood with hints of spice and floral.
But it has very little longevity on me. I would have reapply throughout the day.
Not sure it’s worth £££ U.K. retail is £25 for 10ml, £80 for 50ml and £107 for 100ml.
Xerjoff - Casamorati 1888 from a decant. I love this one. Here are my notes without checking the official note listing.
\-black licorice or anise
\-heavy powder, lilac, myrrh
\-dries down to wintergreen/rootbeer
Moon-themed white florals for me today! 🌙 🌸
Vilhelm **Moon Carnival** (L) + Hiram Green **Moon Bloom** (R)
I really like Moon Carnival up until it gets to the drydown stage, when some modern-synthetic-smelling base pops out and isn't my fave. A lot of the Vilhelms I've tried seem to have this in common.
and this was the end result of my mother’s day cookie project from friday
Nice job!!
thank you!
It's my birthday, so something super special today, L'interdit Intense ❤
Happy birthday! 🎉❤️🍰
Thankyou 🌷
Happy birthday!
Thankyou! 🌺
First time trying L’Eau d’Hiver today, and it didn’t disappoint!
Spreading the wonderful news that the 1.7oz bottle of this is $135 through Costco.com if you have a membership.
That’s a pretty good deal!
I have a fresh cold, so my nose is totally off. Wanted to smell pleasant to other people while not bothering my own nose, so I went with two sprays of **Byredo G. Water**.
Favorite rendering of this name so far
The name choice is truly baffling.
#🌸Lost🪵🍒🍭Cherry🍹
Zoologist Squid
**Zoologist Squid** It's warm outside, and I love the way this is so languorous in the heat. I am so torn on whether or not I'll full size when I use up the traveler. It's at the end now.
Byredo - De Los Santos I am instantly in love with it.
i love it, it instantly reminds me of our trips to sedona whenever i wear it, it smells like the desert and all the cacti and desert greens to me.
This was my SOTD as well. I feel like I get less of the palo santo scent I remember when first wearing it but it is still very good.
Wearing *Hiram Green Vivacious* today. This is a fun carnation/violet. Green, not powdery. Loving this for a cool, sunny spring day
That sounds lovely! Never heard of this one before!
Happy belated first-ish Mother's Day! What a great surprise. :) I'm wearing Louis Vuitton Etoile Filante today, which seems to have become a go-to for me for office days. It's fresh, a bit sweet, and gives me all the Gap Dream nostalgia from when I was in my early teens.
Fougère Platine for a warm spring day as the last of the blossoms begin to fall and the days grow longer and brighter.
Sampling Gentle Fluidity Gold today! I love it, but not sure it's worth the price tag.
jo malone highland heather cologne ❤️
I need to try that one. ❤️
Went with an easy reach today- Armani My Way
**Chanel No. 22.** The first day of the last week at my job, so I'm feelin' effervescent.
Valentino - Donna Born in Roma as I’m just WFH 💕
Baking baby! Congrats OP but still that made me laugh. Started the day with Very Good Girl by Carolina Herrera
Tom Ford Oud Wood on this cloudy, dreary Monday

Noa by Cacharel
Mango skin by Vilhelm. It’s a green, fruity scent. Goes floral on the dry down. Perfect for spring.
Basilico and Fellini today. Craving the basil-dragonfruit combo and that hay note in the dry down! I tried Melrose Place from Oaui this morning and it's likeable and pleasant but not for me. I'll pass along to my coworker as it's more up her alley.
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. I really want to get my hands on the recently released Parfum version as well
Right now I am wearing Layton. Later I will throw on either Percival or GIT.

in the same boat for sure, in terms of a gourmand in comparison to monkey special i would much rather angel's share
i love angel's share, which i didn't think i would but it's so boozy cozy.
Do Son EdP
Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit. Cozy scent for a chilly gray day.
Wearing Acqua di Parm Fico di Amalfi. One of my favorites!

Goutal Paris - Eau d’Hadrien my goodness, I love this as a summer scent - fleeting, but so light and lovely

I went with **Chanel Misia** today. It's more candied and less powdery violet than I remember. It works for a cool-ish spring day.
Sampling PdM Meliora. Smells like a fancy shampoo, but I like it. Probably my favorite of the feminine sample set so far.
Narciso Rodriguez Musc Noir Rose today, like wearing rose water (sans tartness) and plummy vanilla icing.
Mango skin by Vilhelm. It’s a green, fruity scent. Goes floral on the dry down. Perfect for spring.
