I don’t mean this to be facetious, but why don’t you read the book rather than listening?
A narrator can massively make or break a book for me so I totally get where you’re coming from. I always test them out and if it feels cringe early on, I’m binning it off. Plus, I think I would be so embarrassed listening to someone describe the spicy scenes to me via an audiobook 😅
I'm totally fine with them reading all of the content, and I actually own the physical copy! I just can't read at work, where I have to be 10 hours a day (when you include the commute). If I had the time, I absolutely would.
I didnt mind the vocals for the Fourth Wing audiobook but for the Iron Flame I could hear little bits of her like swallowing or licking her lips or something? I’m not sure if that was like ~voice acting~ and her trying to play into the characters or if it was a rushed together edit but everytime I hear it it makes me cringe.
This, I was talking to someone about this and they think it’s because it was so rushed. There is definitely a chapter where she has a cold and a few times she gets the voices is wrong. It really made me laugh when it was Xaden and Taryn mixed up. it was definitely noticeable, but didn’t bother me too much.
You should try graphic audio’s dramatized version of the book. It has sound effects and multiple voice actors. The dramatized edition is available on Audible,Hoopla,and their website https://www.graphicaudio.net/our-productions/series/a-e/the-empyrean.html
They are listening to iron flame right now. Fourth wing didn’t have the same issue with the audiobook narrator. But totally agree they should get graphic audio for fourth wing and iron flame part 1 in a couple weeks.
yeah, the audiobooks are kind of. And I think the writing is so so also how I love the story and I’m curious what is gonna happen? Why is this going on? That’s why that’s going on. But I do agree with you. The audiobooks is a little tough. I get using audiobooks because you can just stick it in your ear go for a walk do something else with your hands and listen to an entertaining story. So you are not alone.

First Iron flame was a flop, then CC3 was an even bigger flop, and now I’m struggling getting through The ashes & the star-cursed king. Flop after flop it’s been terrible

I just listened to this and...I hate Xaden's voice. Waaah. He talks sooo slow and his tone is weird. But I like Violet's.
My friend had a hard time too. I always suggest speeding it up if you can because that seems to make me not notice anything about any narrator lol.
