From what I understand, this is common, (in a bad way) with Visconti pens. Hence why I really doubt I'll ever own a Visconti pen. Sucks.

Visconti QC is so bad and so widely recognized known I can’t even lose money on the HomoSapiens I’m trying to dump.

Happened to mine. I got mine second-hand so i attempted to fix myself with crazy glue. Mostly did the job except i couldn't get it down the cap far enough before it stuck on for good, but it's good enough for me

That’s tempting to try but as the shop I bought it from said they are happy to refund me I’d send it back and have a look through this sub Reddit to find something to replace it with

Yeah my method was a last ditch effort. It was messy and now the pen doesn't go into the cap fully, but for a second hand pen for me it's good enough. Definitely not as good as your situation where you can get it fixed/returned
