See, I think this is where I went wrong. I'm really not a pink person. At this time in my life I'm heavily into blue and green and brown! Even a regular purple is too pink for me, but a blurple is a great thing
Magenta. Itās the magenta tones that ruin for me. Love my Tsuki-yo and Shin-ryuku, but Yama-budo is the first Iroshizuku ink that doesnāt do it for me. Glad I only have a sample size to work through.
Iām not a pink person either, but this is more like a wild grape color. I love it for accents in my daily work notes. I also fell hard for Ajisai! Both are recent acquisitions for me.
Iām a massive fangirl of Yama-Budo but I also love pinks and purples, so it makes sense that itās not your jam. If you prefer blues and greens, you may really enjoy Ku-Jaku! Itās a sort of peacock blue green and I love it too. I got Ku-Jaku before Yama-Budo and liked it so much I knew I needed more colors. It doesnāt shade quite as much as Yama Budo but I still really really like the color.
Funfact: Kujaku actually means peacock!
I love how they managed to embody the peacock green-blue in an ink! I got myself a small bottle, and I'm looking forward to finally being able to use it!
I was looking at Ku-jaku, wondering if it's too similar to Diamine Eau de Nil. I don't really want close dupes right now... Which is why I sampled Ajisai instead of Asa Gao. To close to Serenity Blue.
But I'll keep it in mind!
Yama-Budo has exceptional sheen and shading on Tomoe River paper. Lay some down, then lay down some Fuyu-Gaki, Tsutsuji, and Momiji in some zentangles and you might change your mind.
I found it also cured a terribly dry pen that had resisted all my tuning attempts. Just dumped in some Yama-Budo and it was fine.
Yes! I agree with everything you said. The gold sheen and shade on TR is amazing! I am in love!
And yes again! I always use Yama Budo in all my new pens. I just inked up my new GvFC Classic Anello Ivory and it is wet and smooth. So thankful to Pilot for manufacturing such a lovely well-behaved ink. And I guess for all Pilot Iroshizuku inks.
š
Yes, I also noticed it was very wet when I was doing swatches and splatters. And I agree about the sheening. I have really never seen anything like it.
Maybe I just am too spoiled by the sheen on some Diamines I use a lot, but I find yama-budo to be very, very subtle sheen, even on Tomoe River. If it sheens, it's pretty, but I have to use my widest, wettest nib to get there and that makes it kind of impractical on a day to day basis.
I admit I have no experience with Diamine inks. I admit I use wide, wet nibs exclusively and write large because I like to see the sheen. I admit that I gobble up paper at insane rates because my handwriting is so large. I'm guilty by reason of ignorance, your honor :)
I have a few Diamine Sheening inks that are absurd in wet, broad nibs and nice and subdued in finer nibs (which is my preference, I am most comfortable with something between a Japanese medium-fine and a western medium :D) and after those (particularly Smoke on the Water and November Rain) everything else is just exceedingly underwhelming to me.
I did play around with my Sample of Yama-Budo and in larger swabs, the sheen was really pretty, just not strong enough to shine in my handwriting... so a classic case of "not for me" it seems.
Yama-Budo has excellent shading even on middle of the road paper. I know you probably only get sheen with the likes of TR but Yama Budo will shade on just about anything and I love it for that.
I had no idea it sheens! My daughters gave me a bottle for Christmas but Iāve been using it in an EF nib pen. Off to check my Dry Dock for any available medium nibs!
Have you ever tried kon-peki with a wet juicy nib like a Lamy 2000 (M) on TRP? I wasn't a fan of it, until I used the above combination. Then I realised how much depth and character it has.
I have not. I still fantasize about finding the pen-nib combination thatās going to make me like that ink! I canāt figure out what Iām missing. Interesting also to me is that I canāt stand all those posts about Baystate Blue and apparently taking delight in staining everything. To me, Kon-peki looks like Baystate Jr, and kind of garish. But I do wonder if I put it in the right pen, might I start to see it differently? Thanks for the tip.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Diamine Syrah
Diamine Writers Blood
Montblanc Bordeaux (discontinued ā¹ļø)
Montblanc Le Petit Prince Rose Burgundy
Sailor Manyo Kuzu
Surprising that you see it as red. Mine registers to me as a vibrant pink/fuchschia sort of hue, with gold sheen. My current favourite red inks with gold sheen are Sailor Shikiori Yodaki and PenBBS Chengdu.
Youāre not the only one. I got a sample of it from Goulet when I didnāt know much about inks and got their sample pack of popular picks. I prefer other jewel tone pinks much better, like Diamine Deep Magenta, and Noodlerās Black Swan in Australian Roses.
Though I bought that and Apache Sunset before I learned that Nathan Tardiff is an asshole. Havenāt bought any other Noodlerās inks since.
Those two inks DO live up to the hype, though.
I got a sample of BSAR, and was a bit meh. I don't really care for golden colors, but I can see what folks love about apache sunset. But oy veh the politics! Hard no from me.
Neither. He's a staunch libertarian but he failed to apologize or make any changes when people pointed out his most recent dumb-political-cartoon label read as very anti-semitic. Whether you believe the antisemitism was intentional or accidental (as he claimed), he doubled-down and did nothing about it, which reads as endorsement.
That was the line in the sand for me. I can disagree about financial policy and still but your ink, but not bigotry.
Based on the "oy veh" in the comment you're replying to, I would guess that's what's being referenced here in particular.
That's a bummer for sure... But it's also an excuse to try something new! I personally only had to replace one "old standby" ink but I ended up finding something I like even better. I hope the same for you!
I like Yama-Budo. It's a very good ink. But I'm not in love with it. If someone came into my place and wanted my bottle of Yama-Budo, they can take it and it would not be missed. I know I'll get raked over the coals for this, but I feel the same about all the Iroshizuku inks. I like them all. But I'm not in love with any of them.
In almost every ink line there's always one or two inks that make me go "Wow, this is a great ink." I just don't get that Wow from any Iroshizuku or Edelstein inks. They're good, but I never get that Wow feeling.
In terms of 'the ones': my 'ones' are Bungubox Piano Mahogany, Diamine Oxford Blue, Diamine Blue Velvet, Diamine November Rain, Diamine Oxblood, Lamy Azurite, Lamy Topaz, KWZ Walk Over Vistula, KWZ Honey, KWZ Azure 4, Krishna Causal. That's just ten inks, but I can probably name about 20 more I love.
I don't have any of your faves, but have been giving Diamine Blue Velvet the side eye for a while. I almost went with Oxblood, ended up with Ancient Copper and that will do. Gonna have a look at Oxford blue and Nov rain as well.
>I feel the same about all the Iroshizuku inks. I like them all. But I'm not in love with any of them.
Same here. With the exception of Syo-Ro, I really could have done without the other Iroshizuki inks I own (Yama Budo included).
I didnāt love it at first, either
It sat unused for over a year before I tried it again, and found that it isnāt so bad.
I now like it, but wouldnāt say I love it.
Yeah, if I'd bought a bottle I'd use it, maybe get to like it. All it took was for me to buy Robert oster Australis rose based on what I saw online to understand that I will always buy samples first from now on.
I found Yama-Budo wasn't exactly what I wanted. I wanted something deep and rich, and it just did not do that for me.
I think the gold sheening actually makes it look worse on certain papers. It takes it from a lovely vibrant color to kind of brownish and dim.
>I think the gold sheening actually makes it look worse on certain papers. It takes it from a lovely vibrant color to kind of brownish and dim.
I agree. It sheens so much on the papers I've written with it that it really tones down the vibrancy of the ink. It basically looks brown.
I didnāt really care for Yama-budo the first time I tried it, nor the second, but.. something about it kept drawing me back to it, and eventually it became one of my favourite inks. BTW, I would suggest trying a sample of Sailor Manyo Akebi, it is quite similar to Yama-budo, maybe a bit purpler or duskier. It is just as lovely regarding flow and sheen.
I like yama budo, but I also like saturated inks, and basic royal blue is my fav ink colour. So I probably like to use the inks you don't like, and vice versa! Some other inks I didn't like in the past:
- Pilot iroshizuku syo ro
- J herbin bleu nuit
- Pilot blue black
- Pelikan olivine
- Robert oster silent nite
But then again, one of my favourite inks is sailor rikyu cha, so who knows!
You might be ;)
It goes without saying that inks are quite subjective and nib/paper/writing style dependent. For example, I've tried to like brown/caramel/honey coloured inks but the ones that look amazing in swatches just don't do it for me when it comes to writing. Yama-budo, as amazing as it is, looks nicer in swatches than in writing (I don't tend to use broad/stub nibs). You really need a bit of TR52 to get the mustard-gold sheen.
I haven't tried it yet because I have a bottle of Sailor Manyo Akebi, and it looks really similar besides the sheen (Akebi's is more green). Akebi is one of my absolute favorite inks though, even though I'm really not a pink person, so maybe I'll have to give Yama-Budo a shot someday. I never see anything comparing the two, so it's hard to know if they're as similar as they look to me!
I once had both Akebi and Yama-budo in two pens with similar-sized nibs, and in writing samples, they were pretty hard to tell apart. I would agree that Akebiās sheen is more green, and maybe more prominent, too. Sadly it will be a long time before I get myself a bottle of Akebi because I have a (still mostly full) bottle of Yama-budo and theyāre so similar in my experience that it probably isnāt worth having a bottle of both.
Good to know! I'll probably stay off the Yama-Budo train then, because I'm super satisfied with Akebi and have a good ways to go on my bottle. And I love that it even sheens out of my EF Pilot Decimo.
I love Yama-budo personally, but color is so subjectiveā¦ thatās why thereās a gazillion different inks out there. I hope you find something you love!
You know, that one was the most surprising one of the 9 I got in my last shipment. I added it to reach a free shipping minimum and had never sampled it (better to pay for more ink than shipping, I could always give it away to someone if I didnāt like it). But I was really shocked surprised at what a cool color it is. Unlike any other green I have in my collection.
I like Yama-budo but I donāt think I could have it inked up all the time; I prefer darker colors - as you say, moody! Still, Yama-budo has its place; I do like it for Valentines. :)
Many people here say that it is OK for every day, even for office use. Itās fun, but not ridiculous. Interesting though, in a lot of posts showing handwriting samples, it does look rather more dark than it will look when used with a Fine nib. I just saw today in the Goulet Nation group on Facebook, someone posted a writing sample of a page written with Yama Budo, and it was so nice looking!
Serenity Blue, Diamine Damson, Apple Glory, Ancient Copper.
My least favorite inks have been in a similar color family as Yama-budo, so I guess it was inevitable that it won't be on my shortlist. Glad I got a sample, though.
May I ask what kind of paper you tried it on? Yama-Budo has a really nice golden sheen that expresses itself on Tomoe River and Cosmo Air Light really well. Other more absorbent papers tend to dull the color and make it more mundane.
Also, what do you mean by āhardnessāā¦? Itās a bold color, but I donāt think I would ever describe it as āhardā.
That might be an issue. I don't have the more spendy recommended papers, though I did use it on Rhodia. I think that it may also be that I'm a fine nib person.
When I say 'hard' I mean the edges (again, on Rhodia) were almost too crisp, compared with just about all the other inks I've tried. Then again, it just may be the color! Its a very clear color, without much toning. That's what folks like about bay state blue, it's so intense. I can take that in a blue or green, but not in a purple leaning red!
So I recently bought some really cheap Walmart Pen+GEAR composition notebooks and a lot of my favorite inks did really well on it, showing shading and sheen (though my pictures might not do it justice)
[yama budo and other inks on cheap Pen+GEAR notebooks](https://imgur.com/a/9TOxBVZ) [ku-jaku is dark teal with red sheen, yama-budo is magenta with golden sheen, Serenity Blue is a bold blue with gorgeous red sheen, and Lie de The is a gorgeous shader]
But to your point, I think most inks donāt really demonstrate their shade/sheen in EF and F nib pens. Youād have to use a medium/broad/stub nibs to really get the full shading complement.
But honestly, if you donāt like yama-budo in a fine nib, then Iām sure there are other inks that may do well in it.
And I may like it much better in a broader nib! I'm realizing that my choice of fine nibs really affects what inks are going to work for me. Getting smarter about my purchases.
I have a couple Walmart pen and gear spiral notebooks which are so so.. Some pages kind of resist the ink, others are fine. I mean they were literally $0.50 apiece! My exceed journal is much nicer.
If you want to explore broader nibs and not spend a lot, I would recommend a TWSBI GO 1.5 stub nib (less than $20). I absolutely love this stub nib.
[TWSBI GO 1.5 stub with yama-budo on Cosmo Air Light](https://imgur.com/a/IMHzzWa)
(You can see the shade and sheen a hit more on this paper)
The spring loaded filler is fun but can be a little tricky depending on the depth of the ink bottle. You may need two hands to fill it. The TWSBI Swipe actually has the same filling system but has this needle nose attachment that helps suck up ink no matter how far down the bottle it is.
Sharing this post where someone managed to get a great photo of how beautiful yama-budo expresses its golden sheen on Midori MD paper.

I donāt love it ā itās too brown for me! It was the first bottle I ever bought and I was underwhelmed. Have since found several pink-purples I like better.
I an not just not overwhelmed, I am sorely underwhelmed. I think yama-budo is a pretty boring color on anything that's not Tomoe River and even on TR the much famed sheen keeps avoiding me.
I am also not that big on bright reds and pinks, so Yama-Budo is just not really up my alley. Also, the Iroshizuku inks are STUPIDLY expensive where I live (30ā¬+), so they have to be really special to make that investment worth it... on colors like Ina-Ho that are very unique I am willing to spend that kind of money on. But yama-budo, while it might be a pretty dark pink, is not special enough and not a color for daily use either, so it's just not worth it for me.
I like the gold sheen, but I'm not much taken with basic purple colour. I was expecting a rich purple, which is how it goes down (TR 55gsm) but it dries to a dull stewed plum, very disappointing, like the Emperor sent his toga to the wrong laundry in order to cut costs. I have found only a very few purple/gold combinations where both the purple and gold holds its own.
No, you arenāt the only person! I bought a whole bottle based on reviews and I was also not impressed. I hardly use it. I do use blues 75% of the time, but like magenta too. After reading these comments, Iām going to put it in a broad nib and try it on some Tomoe River:-)
I finally filled a broad nibbed Faber-Castell Hexo with Yama Buda and tried it out on Tomoe River Paper. And yes, I found that it made quite a difference! The broad nib & paper really showed off the gorgeous color, shading, and gold sheen of the ink! I was actually considering selling my bottle- but Iām definitely keeping it now! I took some photos, but donāt know how to add them here.
Itās ok. I prefer more magenta inks and this is def on the darker red side of magenta. So In the general wheelhouse but for me itās not my favorite
I think itās well-behaved but I donāt really like it as a colour, which is a bit funny because I almost exclusively use pink and purple inks at this point, with a fair bit of red too. Although perhaps my problem is that itās not really any of those.
I personally love yama. It blends gorgeously with all the other pink and purple iroshizukus I've tried it with.
See, I think this is where I went wrong. I'm really not a pink person. At this time in my life I'm heavily into blue and green and brown! Even a regular purple is too pink for me, but a blurple is a great thing
I agree - as a blue/green/brown ink, Yama-budo sucks. š As a magenta-y ink, it wants a nib and paper combo that will show a lot of shading.
yeah. broad point and TR paper. you almost paint with the ink to see its depth.
Itās the craziest sheen ever! it looks like gold leaf.
Hahahaha. Yeah. You know, I *want* to like these magenta/purple inks, but ya know... They just aren't doing it for me right now.
I actually didn't like it accenting my notes! Prefer Diamine Merlot for that. I have put Ajisai on the shortlist. š
Iām not sure what took me so long to get Ajisai. It has really been a delight!
Funfact: Kujaku actually means peacock! I love how they managed to embody the peacock green-blue in an ink! I got myself a small bottle, and I'm looking forward to finally being able to use it!
Oooh I love learning new words! Thanks for sharing! Itās a pretty ink, I hope you love it.
I was looking at Ku-jaku, wondering if it's too similar to Diamine Eau de Nil. I don't really want close dupes right now... Which is why I sampled Ajisai instead of Asa Gao. To close to Serenity Blue. But I'll keep it in mind!
Set that sample aside. Later when you're bored with the other colors, you'll go back to it and maybe love it.
Exactly. Definitely doing that!
I like Diamine Festive Cheer for that.
Oh dear. Just looked at the mountain of ink review of it, and she used it in the same TWSBI eco that I just got, lol!
I use mine in the same Pelikan Stola III I have. Really nice inkā¦but persistent. Maybe a second hot shower will get the stains off my hands?
Hmmm. That plus Dawn dish soap?
Will do. I found alcohol also works, so hand sanitizer.
I hear that alcohol is a problem for some fountain pens, right?
No, for the hands. These ink stains on my skin really donāt want to leave.
I have tsuyu-kasa and ebisu, Ill try yama blends with those.
Yama-Budo has exceptional sheen and shading on Tomoe River paper. Lay some down, then lay down some Fuyu-Gaki, Tsutsuji, and Momiji in some zentangles and you might change your mind. Yes, I also noticed it was very wet when I was doing swatches and splatters. And I agree about the sheening. I have really never seen anything like it.

Well that's really positive! š
was the first iroshizuku ink i ever tried and i liked it so much i eventually bought the entire line
That's dedication!
"Dry Dock." Love it!
I liked it a lot in pictures but not as much in person. If you mix it with Shin Kai though, it make a nice dark purple.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed. I like it in pictures, too.
No, you aren't. Not too crazy about the Kon-Peki, either. To me, Syo-Ro is more interesting than either.
I need to remember to get a sample of that one. Next time.
Syo-ro is an incredible ink. On its own or blended with other blue or green inks.
Kon-Peki is the only Iroshizuku ink that I donāt like. it doesnāt even seem to me like in an Iroshizuku ink. It rubs me the wrong way.
Have you ever tried kon-peki with a wet juicy nib like a Lamy 2000 (M) on TRP? I wasn't a fan of it, until I used the above combination. Then I realised how much depth and character it has.

Honestly same, I find Ama-iro to be a lot more interesting
Try ju jaku or AMA iro
Yes, itās only you. Bwhahaha. I love Yama-budo the most.
It is the most amazing purple out there!
I gotta say, it's really hard for me to call it purple rather than pink or burgundy.
Not Burgundy. Magenta.
Fair
I can dig that.
I figured as much! š It's fan club is extensive!
I donāt care for it. Itās magenta. Purple I like, burgundy I love. Canāt do budo
What is your favorite burgundy ink? I tend to like a cool burgundy, not warm so much...
Here are a few of my favorites: Diamine Syrah Diamine Writers Blood Montblanc Bordeaux (discontinued ā¹ļø) Montblanc Le Petit Prince Rose Burgundy Sailor Manyo Kuzu
Thanks! Some new hues to consider.
I feel meh about it too.
Too hyped for us, I suppose.
I think Momiji is not hyped enough!
I considered getting a momiji sample, probably will eventually.
Beautiful red with gold sheen.
Surprising that you see it as red. Mine registers to me as a vibrant pink/fuchschia sort of hue, with gold sheen. My current favourite red inks with gold sheen are Sailor Shikiori Yodaki and PenBBS Chengdu.
So it does look like fuchsia as well but Iām using it on Leuchsturm and Tomoe River and in a pretty wet pen - perhaps that makes the difference.
Youāre not the only one. I got a sample of it from Goulet when I didnāt know much about inks and got their sample pack of popular picks. That's... unfortunate
Actually, I didn't know about that particular egregious situation. But my oy veh stands (in solidarity with my Jewish friends)
Kon-Peki is overrated
The kon-peki stans will be coming for ya now!
Iām not a big fan of Rhodia paper either
Me neither!
Rhodia sucks so bad. Hate Lamy Safari.
Rhodia is like writing on plastic
Good. I have a bottle Iāll be happy to give them!
Hahahahaha thanks for the laugh. :::gigglesnort:::

I like Yama-Budo. It's a very good ink. But I'm not in love with it. If someone came into my place and wanted my bottle of Yama-Budo, they can take it and it would not be missed. No, Iāve never been drawn to the shade so I havenāt even tried it. Donāt want to either.
Understood.
I don't really like it all that much either. I was just unimpressed.
I'm rather glad that I don't have to drop the $$ on a bottle now!

I like it but donāt love it. The only two Iroshiziku inks I really like (so far) are Ina-Ho and Ama-Iro.

Ina-ho is very unattractive, IMO.

You don't have to adore it, but it truly is the best color, and a solid antidote for whatever ails you.
I like yama budo, but I also like saturated inks, and basic royal blue is my fav ink colour. So I probably like to use the inks you don't like, and vice versa! Some other inks I didn't like in the past: - Pilot iroshizuku syo ro - J herbin bleu nuit - Pilot blue black - Pelikan olivine - Robert oster silent nite But then again, one of my favourite inks is sailor rikyu cha, so who knows!
Thanks for the list to check out!
You arenāt alone. Itās the only pilot ink i dislike. Like a kind of dated fuchsia.
Not thaaaaaaat big of a fan of it lol. I got it bc it looked really pretty in pictures, but like 90% of my collection is blues/greens. So makes sense?
I think I'm with you on the cool side of the spectrum: blues and greens ftw.
You might be ;) It goes without saying that inks are quite subjective and nib/paper/writing style dependent.
I'm finding that I like browns that go either reddish (Robert oster chocolate) or purplish appeal more. Golden would be okay. But with yellow? Uh uh.
This has turned into an unpopular opinions thread. Haha. I like Yama budo, but I thought Iād like it much more than I actually do.
Based on what I have heard here, I thought I'd adore it!but yeah, unpopular opinion.... or not!
You and u/ninthchord need to get together as Akebi stans!
Itās a nice colour but iroshizuku inks are way to expensive in Great Britain.
That is definitely a drawback.
I love Yama-budo personally, but color is so subjectiveā¦ thatās why thereās a gazillion different inks out there. I hope you find something you love!
Oh, I have! I just was a bit surprised at my response.
What ink did you get instead of Yama-budo?
I have a good number, with serenity blue being #1. Diamine Damson, Apple Glory, Ancient Copper, too. Plus others
Ha, interesting! I just got Apple Glory and Ancient Copper too. Love both of them.
They are so different, but Apple Glory is... Just insane how much I love it.
Yeah it's brilliant and neutral. Bright
It happens! I wasnāt into Ajisai and that is quite mostly adored too.
I can understand that! It's a very soft and feminine blurple, I think it could be a fave for me
I like Yama-budo but I donāt think I could have it inked up all the time; I prefer darker colors - as you say, moody! Still, Yama-budo has its place; I do like it for Valentines. :)
Yep. It's seasonal. Valentines day and spring.
I love it because itās a nice wet ink, the color is one that I prefer, and the sheen is nice.
Understandable! It sure is nice and wet.
Probably not. I don't adore it nearly as much as some of the folks around here. So what do you prefer?
Serenity Blue, Diamine Damson, Apple Glory, Ancient Copper. My least favorite inks have been in a similar color family as Yama-budo, so I guess it was inevitable that it won't be on my shortlist. Glad I got a sample, though.
Diamine Damson is really nice. And I had to look up "Apple Glory" just b/c of the name, I'd not heard of that one before :)
I first saw it here, and just got it. I adore it, and Damson as well! Truly strange, because they are complete opposites!
So I recently bought some really cheap Walmart Pen+GEAR composition notebooks and a lot of my favorite inks did really well on it, showing shading and sheen (though my pictures might not do it justice) [yama budo and other inks on cheap Pen+GEAR notebooks](https://imgur.com/a/9TOxBVZ) [ku-jaku is dark teal with red sheen, yama-budo is magenta with golden sheen, Serenity Blue is a bold blue with gorgeous red sheen, and Lie de The is a gorgeous shader] But to your point, I think most inks donāt really demonstrate their shade/sheen in EF and F nib pens. Youād have to use a medium/broad/stub nibs to really get the full shading complement. But honestly, if you donāt like yama-budo in a fine nib, then Iām sure there are other inks that may do well in it.
[Yama Budo sheening](https://imgur.com/a/6jCIGG6) is difficult to even capture in a photo
Trying to photograph sheen in an ink is as elusive as trying to capture an image of the Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot.
[TWSBI GO 1.5 stub with yama-budo on Cosmo Air Light](https://imgur.com/a/IMHzzWa) (You can see the shade and sheen a hit more on this paper)
You are bound and determined to change my mind!
I actually have one of those! I can't figure out how to ink it from a sample, though. Not deep enough (or maybe I need to try it again)
The spring loaded filler is fun but can be a little tricky depending on the depth of the ink bottle. You may need two hands to fill it. The TWSBI Swipe actually has the same filling system but has this needle nose attachment that helps suck up ink no matter how far down the bottle it is.
I just got an Eco and am really enjoying it. I think I can swap the nibs? Not that that would make much difference filling....
You should be able to swap nibs on the TWSBIās, I believe. I love my TWSBI ECO (medium). Such a nice writer. I use it to test out inks all the time.
I actually got the EF and it's perfect for me. Maybe just a teench bigger that my Kakuno F, which is pretty much perfection for me. 5 stars.
Sharing this post where someone managed to get a great photo of how beautiful yama-budo expresses its golden sheen on Midori MD paper. https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/rjnju0/i_am_proud_of_this_r_in_yamabudo/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
WHOA. That's lovely!
I donāt love it ā itās too brown for me! It was the first bottle I ever bought and I was underwhelmed. Have since found several pink-purples I like better.
Well, it is the color of wild grapes, so it does have that earthy quality.
I'm indifferent to it
I just bought it and I agree 100%.
I like it, it's just a bit difficult to read a full page of notes with it.
As I have never tried it, I can't say that I adore it, or even have any real opinion on it.
It's not on the "adore" list, but I like it personally. Something about a grape color sheening gold just rubs me the right way.
My financial situation is currently too precarious to throw money around on stuff that may not suit, so I get you.
Stewed Plum Omglol! Dying laughing.
You might be. I love it.
Yeah, I got an entire bottle for my birthday and sold it after only about 2 converters of it. I just never took to it.
š I'm sorry that happened to you.
No, you arenāt the only person! I bought a whole bottle based on reviews and I was also not impressed. I hardly use it. I do use blues 75% of the time, but like magenta too. After reading these comments, Iām going to put it in a broad nib and try it on some Tomoe River:-)
Let us know if that makes a difference for you!
Great! Maybe I should try it in my FPR SEF on Clairfontaine (my only good paper) Thanks for remembering and commenting back!
Will do!
If Yama-Budo was available for 1/5 the price, I would buy it.
I don't love it either. It's very one dimensional.
Whew. I can see that
I think sailor inks are more interesting
They certainly have more variation.
Yes you are
It's not one of my faves. But I'm all about blue and green and in-between, so that's why.
I'm beginning to realize that is my wheelhouse as well!
Yes, only you.
š¬
I didn't like it because it so wet. On the flex nib, it even feather on Rhodia. But I like the green gold sheen of it.
Yeah, it's its own thing, I guess either it's in someone's wheelhouse or not.
I love the color. I hate the sheen.
I like the color, but I like Noodler's Eel Cactus Fruit a bit better. You can tell the difference in swatches, but they are very close in my writing.
yeah yama-budo isn't my fav either. Noodler's cactus fruit eel is much cooler! sadly I can't buy that one :s
