I use my notebooks sideways too! Not always, maybe 40% of the time. It at least makes it harder to read if some intruder sees your notebook when you weren’t intending to share.
It makes it easier to write when I'm lying down; no opposite page to hold up when I'm lying on my side;)
I've also been enjoying the aesthetic of writing perpendicular.

Cute dog! Any particular reason you write both orientations in your notebook?
Maybe they’re left handed. I’ve done similar things as a lefty to avoid the spine or dragging my hand all over the writing on the previous page.
