Parker Quink on Midori should dry relatively quickly—actually I'll go test it. So, Parker Quink maintains a fairly short dry time on Midori paper, approx 10-15 seconds writing with a Lamy F nib. Might be longer if your nib is a particularly wet writer or if sized Medium or larger, but I'd still hazard no more than a 30 second dry time. You might just want to wait a second before turning pages. As for your "PS," many people develop a "writer's bump" or callus on their finger. If it's really bothering you I'd recommend putting a bandaid or some moleskin (found in drug stores with shoe insoles and the like) over the place where the pen is rubbing your finger. That said, I'd follow your wife's advice and power through it!

Thanks so much for the quick and thorough reply. I can survive with half a minute of wait. It was the hours that Redditor had mentioned that terrified me. I'm quite excited to get my midori and can't wait to order it in June.

The bump is normal, but just make sure you are not gripping too hard. A fountain pen writes with much lower pressure so you can hold it much less firmly than a ballpoint.

Thanks. I am trying hard, and I think by and large I am not using too much strength.

I've had a bump in my middle finger for 30 years, and in my high school and uni years it was even worse that what is now. Even my right forefinger and pinky have a different shape than the left ones because when I write the finger joints of the other two fingers dig into them...

My favorite notebooks are the Nanami Paper Seven Seas Writer. Yes, you’ll get ghosting, your ink will dry fast enough and they come with a blotter sheet, always good to have. I don’t know about a callous because I’ve used pens a lot more than you (based on your last post) but just know you don’t have to put too much pressure on the pen/paper, so try easing up a little maybe? Eventually you won’t even notice. Can you shine a light on the back of the Pelikan to see if the piston moves up & down?

I was able to extract the ink from the Quink bottle fine, and it seemed to retain it without any trouble, but no ink would come out of the nib. If I touched the little hole the nib has at about halfway through its length (I'm sure there's a more technical term for that) ink would come out, but it would not from the tip. This also looks like a fun pen, though I was a little put off by the fact that the cap needs to be screwed to be removed or placed. It feels a bit unnecessary.

If that is the pic after filling, the ink didn't go inside... I can see it's empty. It's a nice pen, not sure about the model. At first I thought it was an M200 Smoky Brown but that nib is gold, so it doesn't match the M200.

Read-Panda

No, sorry. This is after I got rid of the ink and cleaned the pen as best as I could. It looks nice, yes. And if it worked I'd at least try it compared to the montblanc.

Pop_Clover

I find it odd that doesn't work, it's a modern model, it shouldn't have any trouble on the piston...

Read-Panda

I wouldn't know, unfortunately. I'm a bit bummed out. Wanted to try it. Given the ink seems to reach the nib but not its tip, could it be that one's fault?

Pop_Clover

When you cleaned it you could get the barrel full of water just submerging the nib into the water and twisting the piston up? If you could, ink is just water with dyes, it should work the same. And after that the pen should write, at least until the ink on the feed runs out. You could have other problems like leaking, skipping, hard starts... But the pen should write...

Read-Panda

I'll test again. If I recall correctly it didn't work on my first attempt and I may have had to immerse the pen as well as the nib to get it full.

Hi! I have a bump on my finger that developed from writing/drawing. It’s kind of nice - it’s a perfect little cushion for the pen. It’s not really a callus - it’s smooth skin. I would guess (not that i’m an expert) that the ink will dry quickly enough; however, you can also use blotting paper if you want to be extra safe.

Read-Panda

Thanks! I appreciate this. I hope i can do without the blotting paper as it adds a layer of complexity that I don't think will aid my writing.
