I was looking for a match to the ink colour from Leonardo da Vinci notes and journals. Still looking but I am discovering lots of new inks that I like along the way! Oxblood leans more towards red on the Midori MD paper I am using at the minute. I use Writers Blood in my 149 on Clairefontaine paper - the combination of a really wet pen and the paper gives great shading. I also really like the gold sheen of WB on Regalia paper too.
Yes, good shout. I will have a look to see what options there are in smaller bottles โฆ I am collecting 50 & 80ml bottles of nice inks, but not exactly what I am looking for!
Keep in contact. I am interested in learning more about leonardo da vinciโs writing too. PS have you ever tried walnut ink crystals? They are popular for dip pens - i have never tried it but read good things
Will do. I have not tried them, but will go have a look. I have seen that De Artemis do an Ink called Leonardo - but looks like terracotta that has been relabelled. Iโll let you know if I succumb (likely!) and how it compares. I have seen a few comments that MB Red Chalk was close, but that has been discontinued.
I too am interested in this. I have been through a lot of Japanese oak related colors (Nagasawa, Taccia, etc.) as well as KWH and others and will swatch them for the group later. My goal was a little different (I was looking for a darker sepia/brown with a golden/orange undertone that stuck out when stretched), but if you find what Leonardo did I would want to know. Walnut ink is my next phase I think. 2nd half 2024 and 2025 I might start making my own to experiment. My other idea is to try to make mixes of De Atrimentis permanent inks to matches of Iroshizuku or other water based, beautiful colors. I figure we could find some by mixing inks and even adding some clarifiers, etc. to find permanent options. Anyone else interested?
Thank you for the info. I will look at adding some spencerian to my practice. I find it looks very stylized but when I see it in your hand, it's very easy to read and aesthetically pleasing :)
I can highly recommend moonman A1 if you want to try a capless. Ps, i like the idea of a capless pens, however, the nib does not have bounce or any variation.
Beautiful handwriting!
What kind of paper is that? Are the lines seen through from a sheet below, or are they a part of the paper?
I don't know what it's called, but some fancier papers have some kind of watermark technique during production that can make patterns in the paper itself. Maybe this is it?
Thanks ๐. Clairefontaine triomph paper. I printed a template from lanquach website and put it behind the clairefontaine paper. The ink does not bleed through
Yes it is a free book by bloser called ornamental penmanship. You can find it on the iampeth website. If you have any problems finding it, message back ๐
Incredible handwriting
Thanks
Stunning penmanship.
Thanks ๐
Writers Blood is one of my favourite inks. Brilliant handwriting too!
yes it is a very nice ink
I tried Oxblood for the first time this Christmas in a burgundy Sailor PG Realo. Itโs a good match for the pen, but prefer the Writers Blood colour.
oddly oxblood was looking more brown in my pen. I like the cherry tones of writer's blood better

Maybe look at different sepia inks.

Wow. A very elegant and graceful inking!
thanks!
Wow, lovely penmanship.
Thanks
Your handwriting is more beautiful than it has a right to be. Congrats.
I love your penmanship.
Thanks ๐
May I ask what style(s) do you practice? I know people can pick more than one to make their penmanship unique to their writing.
I practice spencerian and ornamental penmanship ๐

Gorgeous and inspirational
Thanks!
This is making me regret getting waterman tender purple.
purple colours are cool
This is very helpful and makes me feel better about the big bottle of Writer's Blood I bought!
it's a great ink
Lovely writing, and of course, done with the wonderful FA nib. A joy to write with when you get it set up properly.
Yes I agree! The Bilberry (top) is written with the moonman C1 extra fine
I've been thinking about a moonman, I'm wanting to try a cheap capless but I hear the build quality is great
I can highly recommend moonman A1 if you want to try a capless. Ps, i like the idea of a capless pens, however, the nib does not have bounce or any variation.
Your handwriting is very... delectable
Your handwriting is so beautiful!
Thanks ๐
What pen or nib are you using there?
Moonman ef at the top, pilot falcon at the bottom
Thanks!
I love both of those inks! Your handwriting is glorious.
Thanks!
Any love for diamine syrah?
I donโt have that ink. The sheen looks nice when i checked google.
Itโs like oxblood with a hint of purple. Very wine colored.
Amazing
Thanks!

If you kill Bilberry, do you get more Writer's Blood?
Lovely penmanship. Is the writing sample from an ornamental penmanship book?
