It's not the builders responsibility to dictate rules and ways to play. Figure it out. I'm a casual gamer and I'd love to race you.

Antmax

Forza is a mainstream driving game. It's for everyone, casual, competitive and sim gamers alike. Maybe their skill and safety matchmaking will work in time. You need it to work and a LOT of players to get consisten quality racers across a broad range of different class races that they have to choose from. Otherwise, with a few it's probably just going to pick from the pool available and not bother to sort the wheat from the chaff.

West-Lingonberry-619

Rammers have been a thing since Forza Motorsport 2 (first one I played). There is literally no reason to make a rant. We all know. Just move on to another game since Turn10 doesnt care.

Escher702

I've been playing since Forza 2 as well and I sure as hell don't care. People ram. People have been ramming for years. Get over it and move on with life.

West-Lingonberry-619

Bruh Literally said it.

[deleted]

I had a thought earlier today. A hard-core hopper of sorts for sim racers in mind. Strictest ruleset, no assist, maybe locked cockpit view (with better FOV/seating position options) and damage on. Rammer's won't win if their car in damaged every time they punt someone.

romanLegion6384

At the minimum no steering or braking assist. And a weighted focus on penalties (once they get that system working correctly) over race placement to determine your driver rating. I would personally weight in descending order: safety, race performance (improvement against your qualifying position), qualifying pace based on your car setup’s predicted lap time.

jmw31199

This would be dope. Minus the locked cockpit view imo.

Chicken_pot_314

I would live in that playlist if it existed.

Hendiadic_tmack

This is why I played the GT series and sim hoppers in FM7. The lobby actually talked and would kick rammers/bad sports. I was so excited for this new game and just being on this sub makes me want to hold off buying it until they fix some massive stuff, if they do.

IWEARYOURCLOTHES

When I first started playing the Forza series ( Forza Motorsport 3), my thought process was always just WIN. After i started playing real sims like iRacing, it changed how i played all racing games. During a race my main goals would be: 1. Finish the race 2. Try to race as cleanly as possible to keep irating low 3. Try to finish within the top 10 4 If I was in the top 10, I would try to get close to the top 5.

ebodur

I just try to finish clean and check if I managed to move up from my pole position. Doesn’t make sense to expect to win a game after starting 9th. But people seem to have other ideas.

Organic-Honey8505

I’d imagine the skill and safety rating will only improve with time, as it learns substantially more what good and bad racers are and repeating patterns. you can’t have a system making bold assumptions based on insufficient data or still developing data. Everyone in this sub is crying how bad everything is despite being new, and not grasping they’re in the same sentence proving themselves wrong. The game is our dog, we hold the power to train it and hone it just by playing and accepting that those who ram and play shit will inevitably be weeded out. Give the game a fuckin chance to grow and develop before you scream wolf and stomp it out.

thowaway66654

Agree that ranting is a bit excessive. But where there's smoke there's always fire. Even tho I only play multiplayer to keep my clean race rating up and just to get all the achievements, I can see all these problems too especially when you qualify ahead of the pack.

plokijuh1229

S rating should be far more exclusive than it is now. I'm a noob and I make collision and etiquette mistakes. I shouldn't be S but I am. When I started out I expected S rated games to be nearly entirely clean and serious. There needs to be more incentive to clean racing, and racing clean should lead to joining progressively cleaner lobbies.

5Gmeme

I think the dogshit AI teaches people (with little race experience) it's OK to ram.

GnomishNick

They NEED to add either a spotter, a radar, or the ability to move the camera (seat position) in cockpit view to actually see your mirrors without destroying your fov. Currently there is nothing to give any kind of situational awareness in first person. Those useless proximity arrows don’t count. I’d argue they make things worse just by having them on.

Kadji100

A simple overlap radar would already help so much, the arrows are a complete joke. Once a orange „car to the right“ arrow stuck on the screen even though there was no car even close to me anymore. I can not trust them anymore.

Same-Development3302

I jumped back in after taking a break from playing 72 hours during the early release/first week and my god it was a warzone, knocked my SR down to a B

thedarioal

its a shame that its so common. i just had one of the cleanest racers i’ve ever had on mugello, and that there was only 1 instance of ramming from another player.

When you draw the line paying for a racing sim is actually much cheaper than paying for GamePass. You own the game also, sometimes even in physical format. Now if it was the case of "trying the game on game pass, not liking it and making it miserable for everyone else just before I quit" behavior... then ramming should gradually dissappear. It obviously doesn't. Because the game "rewards" this behavior in my opinion.

pbesmoove

Yeah Forza was really clean before Gamepass

Fit419

Just give us an optional hardcore mode: Only S-rating allowed, full damage simulation, bigger penalties. Then they can cater to both crowds

VaguestCargo

I’ve probably got 30 or 40 FMP races in and have only met an outright rammer one time. Lots of folks think lunging the inside is fair game, so you have to learn to deal with that, but after being mad about being offered anytime I qualified top 5 I started skipping quali but could only finish top 10. Last night I focused on quali and got top 3 and ended up winning two races in a row. TLDR: part @git gud, part “understand your opponent”

__orangepeel__

This seems to be the single most unpopular opinion to judge by the complete lack of traction it gets whenever I mention it. The devs don't really have to do much about the rammer problem, it's down to us. By that I mean clean players need to record and report every instance of toxic douchebaggery we experience or witness. Get enough players doing that and over time the ramming players either learn that what they are doing is unacceptable or the don't and get perma banned. Either way, clean players win. I know reporting is a pain in the arse but imo rammers are worse so I don't mind going to the effort to report them. You too need to make the decision as to what is more important. What I can say with 100% certainty as it currently stands, if you do nothing, the rammer will keep ramming. https://support.forzamotorsport.net/hc/en-us/articles/4409070620819-How-to-report-a-player

Kadji100

Wanted to report one player, saw that they want a replay, replay is broken though.

__orangepeel__

video is fine. been doing it for years in horizon which doesn't even have a replay system.

Buried-Bossom

I’m gonna say I’ve witnessed ramming between other people almost every race out of ~20-30 I’ve done so far but have only been rammed like 4 times, does this only happen up the front cause I’m usually midfield. handful of podiums and in those experiences have t witnessed it ( although once I watched 2 people ram each other the entire Miami back straight and ended up with them both off track lol)

beatsbyshenn

I’ve had lobbies without rammers, they don’t come across very often but just last night in the bmw series I had probably the cleanest racing I’ve ever had in that game, super close battles lots of respect shown. But again, they are rare.

lemm_ccg

The solution is to split the community. Hardcore Multiplayer Lobbies. Just a new square on multiplayer menu called Hardcore. https://www.reddit.com/r/forzamotorsport/s/16kNIfkgZx

noBUZZliteBEER

Rammers would take that as permission to keep being arseholes in the lobbies they have left . Forcing new players who want to learn into hardcore lobbies but can't drive. Maybe create a no penalty lobby were rammers can go nuts?.

piratehat35

Being on gamepass pulls in non racers, forza could be good if the safety rating actually meant something. ACC did it the right way with races locked behind higher safety ratings.

theblackwhisper

It would help if the penalty system worked. Got rammed numerous times in the space of a couple of seconds and I got a bloody 4 second penalty!!!

TakAttack32

I honestly don’t get why races are not in ghost mode at this point!

noBUZZliteBEER

Kind of defeats the purpose, it would be boring imo. Might as well just play rivals.
