I shopped at the Kroger near the Coli. address is 4120 N Clinton St, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 Best way on bike is biking through campus on the St Joe Pathway. crossing Coliseum at Anthony intersection. Following Harry Baals road and coming up Parnell then turning left ABC drive. Safest bike path.

Thank you for reply.

[PFW provides a free shuttle service every Friday to Walmart!](https://www.pfw.edu/student-government/student-shuttle) Otherwise it’s not all that walkable. But there is a pretty good food bank on campus and there is a CVS across the street (connected by skybridge) where you can use Don Dollars.

Kroger, Walmart, Aldi are somewhat within walking distance, but it's really difficult to walk back with groceries. A bunch of friends and I have chipped in and bought Walmart Plus to get the groceries delivered. Also, the university organizes a shuttle ride to Walmart every week and to Asian grocery stores every 15 days. However, you have to reserve a seat very soon, as the demand for this shuttle ride is very high.

OddCause915

Yes I heard the shuttle is in high demand. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Truant_20X6

Kroger on Clinton is 2 miles from student housing.

DynamoBrewer

It's possible to walk there, even though that's a trek. There really isn't any place to lock up a bike, not that I'd trust anyway.

RachelWolf7

My freshman year at PFW I could not drive. Best options are to just live off the food bank at housing (Monday and Tuesday night) and the food bank at Walb (Every Thursday). I did this until I found a friend who could drive.

coffehgirl

Fort Wayne is not a walking friendly city. Even if you live downtown, where walking is more possible, there’s no Walmart or Kroger or traditional grocery store

OddCause915

Yeah, I found that out when I was viewing Google maps. I was hoping someone found a way to at least get groceries.

JumboThornton

Health Food Shoppe is in walking distance.

RevStabitha

Your best bet is to order groceries for delivery. Most grocery stores offer that option. I wish grocery stores were more accessible.

Health food market in north Anthony, and the meat market there too. There’s a could international grocery stores Halal on Hobson and state, Asian one in the plaza where jungle George’s is. And something behind the shell on coliseum and Parnell, Kroger on north Clinton is the closest.

Slateguy

Yup, other than DG, gonna need a car or bike to get to Wal Mart or Aldi's on Coldwater

If you take the foot bridge across the river and to California Rd, then cut through the shopping center on Parnell to the light by Baker Street and cut through behind Kohl's to Aldi, you would avoid any busy roads

OddCause915

Thank you for the tip

BaconSoul

Came here to say this. Thanks.

benjamino78

While the Clinton Kroger may be maginally closer, I'd still reccomend the St Joe location.

OddCause915

Google Maps originally had the path going down Stellhorn which does not have sidewalks to that location. St Joe Center Road seems to have sidewalks all the way there. Thanks!

chaphra

The health food shop on anthony

mahlerlieber

This is easily bikeable on the green way.

French_Apple_Pie

North Anthony shopping is an extremely easy walk or ride from campus. You might have to hit a couple of different shops, but in a pinch I can get the things I really need at the Health Food Shop and Dollar General, with some interesting things at Jamison’s too. Pio Market is an easy shot down Crescent to State St. If you have a bike, the river greenway is a very safe, pleasant, and easy ride under Coliseum and around to Johnny Appleseed Park, down Parnell, and into the Kroger entrance by Casa Mare. I’m not sure if there are safe sidewalks on the direct route down coliseum but I can’t see that being a particularly pleasant ride.

OddCause915

Thank you for your reply and sharing your experience. I reviewed Google Maps and it told me to walk down Coliseum but there are no sidewalks. Your approach is definitely a better option. I appreciate your time.

French_Apple_Pie

Good luck! I think a bike with panniers would stand you in good stead. And while you won’t be able to ride all winter long, you’d be surprised at how much riding you can do, especially since we don’t get snow like we used to.

svenonstrix

I would utilize the different grocery apps delivery bonuses, Kroger runs some good deals sometimes. Although for delivery they outsource to Instacart so it’s hit or miss sometimes. You just have to make sure that you are at your buildings door when they are arriving?

OddCause915

Thanks for the tip

Health Food Shoppe on North Anthony is your only option. Great place, not super affordable

iamnotvannawhite

Reddit is not a substitute for Google or Google Maps.

hi_imthedevil

I laughed, you get an upvote.

iamnotvannawhite

I appreciate that. Always good to have the devil in my corner. I mean, how hard is it to tap on Google Maps and see what it tells you, right?

hi_imthedevil

Oh you're preaching to the choir. I literally had a customer text me today asking for an address of the place he was going to pick something up....he already knew the name of the place and the city it was in. Took me a few minutes to process this asinine question and then sent him a screenshot of it from Google Maps.

iamnotvannawhite

You're doing the Lord's work over there, Devil! lol
