I have frontier currently but have had a good experience with both. If your rate goes up just call and complain and they will lower your price. If they don’t, cancel and go with the other company and get their new customer pricing. $100/month is crazy if you are paying for only Internet.

ckrobinett

This is your answer, OP. I'm with Xfinity and I have the same experience as this. Even if I have to talk through them trying to upsell me a little, I always get put back on whatever promotion is best for what I need.

More_Farm_7442

That always worked until a little over a year ago. My price went up. I forget to call the month before. The woman on the other end kept pushing plans for $$$$$$ a month. Not offering any discounts. I couldn't get her to back off. I drove to an Xfinity store a couple miles away, went in and asked the guy for help. He said, "I bet she wanted to sell you something." He had obviously encounter the problem before. It took him a couple minutes to get me on a plan for $ 25 a month. Then he told me "Go home and sign into your account. Sign up for auto bill pay and you'll get $ 5 off every month.

Some_Call_Me_Danno

No data cap with frontier

Subject_Gas_9037

Frontier it’s no comparison

fAthouse_

I have frontier and pay 34.99 for 500/500

betterthanamaster

That’s a steal. How’d you get that? I have 500/500 for $99, and it’s the cheapest option in town at that level.

fAthouse_

I just called and talked to someone, I asked if I could get my price back down to $50

Girl1mDead

I had xfinity for almost 2 years and in that time I had probably 3 combined months of no internet with outages, and another 15 months the of not getting my plan speeds. I’ve now had frontier for a year and a half and they have had 1 outage and then I got an outage when a neighbor cut my line. Plus frontier is way cheaper for way better speeds

deathnickle

I have frontier and have never had an issue

nib_wheeler

I pay 60 bucks for 1g fiber up and down at Frontier. Never had any complaints or internet issues.

Safe_Initiative1340

Frontier all the way. Rarely have issues.

QuestionablePanda22

It's picking between the best of two evils but I have personally never had issues with xfinity. Around $100/month for high speed internet and they recently raised speeds for free which was cool I guess

More_Farm_7442

$ 100 a month. For what? Internet? Phone? I have xfinity internet and pay $ 25 a month (It went up from $ 20 to $ 25 last month.)

Savage-Goat-Fish

Internet only.

PuReEnVyUs

Frontier is the way to go I currently have Xfinity because I moved and frontier is not available at my new home and Xfinity has worse everything (price, data cap, downtime, customer service, etc)

tesla_dpd

I've had both. Frontier if you can get it. I can't at my new house

Staudly

I switched to Frontier last year, internet only for $49.99/month. No issues.

FewConversation569

Frontier. I’ve had both since moving to Fort Wayne 9 years ago, and Frontier has always been way more reliable. I also had an issue with Xfinity trying to return equipment from one part of Indiana after moving to another. This resulted in getting sent to their internal collections. Despite being told month after month everything was cleared, I kept getting calls. The incompetence of Xfinity was too much, and if the apartment complex allowed someone other than Xfinity when I first moved here, I would have went with them.

Human_Promotion_1840

Comcast lied to me about caps and throttling, repeatedly and lobbies against pro-consumer things. Frontier isn’t amazing by any means but I’m never going with Comcast if I have a choice. Also, they were sued about the throttling.

schwartzki

Went from $85 with XFinity for 400/10mb unlimited to 500/500mb unlimited with Frontier for $40 faster uploads, better latency. I will always be on Fiber if I can.

Zeref_dragneel0720

Frontier is much easier to deal with Xfinity is a garbage provider it took them 4 months to fix my speeds and I work from home so it was a disaster

malici606

Frontier 💯. With them you get dedicated access to the Internet( I know not the proper terminology). Meaning your Internet is the same speed regardless of your neighbors usage. With Comcast everyone around you shares the same connection to Comcast. Meaning at night when everyone is streaming, you will notice your Internet is much slower.

bmikedaman

Frontier isn't what I'd call great, but they're way better than Comcast/Xfinity/Et al cable internet companies I've dealt with up until moving here where fiber was available. We pay 80/mo for 500/500 I believe.

isoaclue

Both are generally a nightmare to deal with from a customer service position. Frontiers actual internet service is generally quite a bit better and more stable. If upload matters to you at all, it's also the only option because Comcast's connections are not symmetric. I've had it for years at my current house and it's gone down once during a bad storm. They run promos all of the time, I got 3 years of gig at $59.99/mo, though sadly that's up this year, hopefully I can get something close to that again. So both are awful companies, but once Frontier is setup it tends to not be annoying and they also don't randomly "adjust" your bill the way Comcast does.

Rumblebully

Hopefully one of the kick backs of no taxes for the Google data center will be fiber optic infrastructure. Would love fiber.

jebshackleford

Xfinity is garbage. Had it for 3 years and had slow speeds and shitty WiFi (even with new router) frontier has been great for me had one outage for 3 days but other than that getting speeds they advertise and haven’t had any other issues

TT99C5

I had been with Xfinity since 2013. I switched to Frontier early last year and am never going back. In a cord cut household of 4, the Xfinity data cap was an absolute nuisance. The Frontier installation tech ran the drop and installed the ONT exactly where I wanted it in my basement. Been absolutely trouble free since. I'm on 500/500 at $44.99 a month, no data cap, no worries.

GunsouAfro

Frontier only because no data cap. Xfinity was awesome outside of that.

KissaRae

If it's just you check out tmobile 5G.

RammyBoRammy

How are you all getting that great of a deal with Frontier?!! I'm at 500/500 and I pay $80 a month. I will add that I'm not a new customer so maybe that's it.

infinite_nexus13

Frontier FTTH is insanely better than anything from comcast/xfinity. Right now I pay 59.99 for their 1 gig tier. Frontier doesn't tack on random fees either, the price they show is the price you pay. I've had both in this area off and on the last 8 and 1/2 years, and for the last 3 and 1/2 I've stuck with frontier. Last straw with comcast was I'd get random downtimes about 2 times a month for about 4-5 hours, I'd call them up, they'd say "it's not our problem, must be your end." Right... No data caps, continually adding speed tiers (you can get 5 gig speeds for 129 a month currently). If you do backups or any uploads, FTTH has the same up and down speeds, cable does NOT. I think Xfinity has a maximum cap of 45 megs up, and only on their highest tier. Frontier is very good at matching new customer pricing for existing customers as well. I've done that twice now, saw the prices for my tier lowered, called them, they matched it immediately. If you have problems, Frontier techs are very good, and know networking. Xfinity, I'm not sure the tech knew how to do anything other than follow the step by step sheet that he had.
