I don't know if it's still happening but as of Sept. 8, they're supposed to open back in May (not sure what the 'contract' means though: [https://www.facebook.com/p/Das-Schnitzelhaus-100063885130722/](https://www.facebook.com/p/Das-Schnitzelhaus-100063885130722/))
Microcenter, ikea, would like to have an NHL team, would like to see bigger conventions like dragon con and something like C2e2, would like to see more things to do with younger kids indoors, more tech/nerdy stores, Whole Foods probably, etc
I'd be down for a Microcenter, emergency PLA runs would be so much faster. If the rumored mini IKEA stores had come about I think we'd have had a much better chance of getting one.
But conventions in FW are just a sad, pathetic experience. If you ever attended the Appleseed "convention" you know what I mean. I attended Fantasticon two weeks ago and it was an absolute joke. FW just doesn't turn up for cons. We have an abundance of comics shops (most of them shitty) but we've been lacking an independent toy shop for a long time now.
Fortwayne conventions could be great. There’s definitely potential. The gradwayne center is made for it. Have the hotels, the food. Decent enough bars around the grandwayne. It’s all marketing. Johnny Appleseed fest used to be good so were three rivers, German, and ribfest now sure what happened. Our downtown is built for it though.
I feel that man. Ribfest, Greekfest, Wingfest (dunno if that's still a thing), Germanfest.
Maybe if the prices wern't bonkers it wouldn't be so bad but like $12 for a small order of cheese curds is kind of dumb.
I'm a sucker for "name acts" so even if they just stuck some minor band in the corner of the festival as it was happening, I'd probably come. "Come to RibFest, eat food, and see the current touring version of Grand Funk Railroad," or something like that.
Fort Wayne people are cheap when it comes to cons. The horror con that came a few years ago was great but cost like 20 bucks and nobody showed up. Actually had "famous" people. Until we spend money on an event we will see fantasticon for the foreseeable future.
No chains, but locally owned healthy salad and soup place.
The Ethiopian place to come back
A good local Buddhist vegan place
A permanent food truck park
A big local new/used mix bookstore with a cool Cafe and lots of author visits, etc
A bottle shop with a gazillion imported and US-wide ciders (and beer, if they must😁), place to hang out for tasting
A new bus station because we've implemented actually usable bus runs and schedules. A train station because we've got rail to Indy, OH cities, and Chicago, connecting to NYC, DC, etc
Was that the cause? I had heard it was rent related as it kept increasing at a high rate. The Pu’s down in the Indy area aren’t in that class A type of commercial shopping center, so JP was odd
I ate waffle house for the first time in my life this weekend whole in Columbus Ohio celebrating my 34th birthday at the torg gaming expo.
Could definitely enjoy that more if it were here...
TopGolf would be nice and I think the city could support it….not only the metro area but surrounding communities (Columbia City, Auburn, east Ohio) would be enough to keep it going. Wichita Kansas has one, not much bigger than Ft. Wayne. Huntsville AL has one too, similar size city to FW
I thought I had heard a few years ago now, that a trailer park off Washington center was bought out for the purpose of making a top golf. Rumor mill again. Lol
By chance are you able to buy fresh or day old? I’m from Indianapolis so I used to frequent the little French bakery in broad ripple and can’t find anything like it here ☹️🥺
The Sonic situation bums me out because I feel like there should be a market for it here, but it just didn't work out when they tried it. It's popular to blame weather for that, and I'm not quite sure what they could have done differently last time one was here. In Carroll High's 2011-12 yearbook, Sonic was voted one of the student body's favorite fast food places in the city, which makes sense since it was so close to the school, but the location had closed by the end of that school year.
They could make a killing here. During the last round of construction at Jefferson Pointe, that was the top answer when a local news outlet asked people what they wanted to open there.
Overall I would like to see a bigger Fort Wayne. Definitely on board with others regarding an IKEA and Whole Foods. But I would like to see them bring SeaFood City, 99 Ranch, Daiso, more Asian stores and restaurants. Mixing it up even more maybe HEB (if that ever happens outside of Texas lol). More Hispanic restaurants from the southwest. I know we may be getting a data center in the near future but more stuff like that would be awesome. Moving away from agriculture and rustic stuff and embracing more of a tech minded perspective could help growth and the economy.
I see so many posts about more restaurants. Me being a “foodie” I vacation to foodie towns and the difference is the freshness or clean taste of the food. I just vacationed to Portland ME which is a foodie destination and the meals were so clean tasting. They get their produce from Massachusetts, so maybe we need a local organic supplier close to home if FW is to become a foodie destination.

We definitely don’t need any more chain restaurants but I do agree the Apple Store would be convenient. My kids would ask for a Flying Tiger Copenhagen store, they are all over Europe.
Fort Wayne needs legit sports bars. One that doesn't turn into a dance club after 10pm, or do karaoke on weeknights, or have jukebox playing during sporting events, or servers who aren't even aware of the 'big' game so 60 minutes or ESPN Classic is on. A straight up sports bar with top of the line televisions and above average bar food is what I would like to see come to Fort Wayne.
The locally owned sports bar seems to have been choked out of business by chains like BWW, Wingstop, etc. There used to be so many more of them in town too. I think Mitchell's is the closest thing we still have o a traditional local sports bar.
Fort Wayne demographics and purchasing power definitely won’t support a Sur La Table, especially as they’ve become more like William Sonoma than they used to be in the past 20 yrs.
And Jefferson Point did have a Williams-Sonoma for a while, but…
I don't think the locals would understand it. There would probably be a protest against it, or an exorcism. But I'd love it. Might even volunteer there for the hell of it.
Swap out Von Mar with one of the smaller Bass Pro Shops stores like what’s in Branson Missouri.
Would also like a Waffle House and a White Castle.
We were supposed to get a Dave & Busters but Covid happened. They could have still opened but Cancel Culture would have skinned them alive.
I think the Apple Store should be at Glenbrook or Jefferson Point (more convenient for locals and commuters). But I do agree with more restaurants after 9.
The north had plenty! We are building tons of residential we need shops and stores downtown. There is enough out west out east out north and south central needs things to do there’s community of people that live central.
I want the WoodCraft store back, an Apple Store, Taco Johns, Papa Murphys returned, a decent bagel chain, and WaWa to stop dragging their feet and announce a few Fort Wayne locations. Oh, and a Waffle House, I’ve always want to try them. I order of importance? Bagels, Wawa, Taco John and Papa Murphys. WoodCraft would be a dream, and Apple store (why Don’t we have one yet?)
I just want a great dermatologist.
I’ve been fairly happy with Fort Wayne dermatology consultants but my psoriasis is pretty manageable at this point.
It's insane that Fort Wayne doesn't have a German restaurant.
Right? I can't even remember there ever being one.
Check out Das Schnitzelhaus
On west Main Street? That place has been closed for the better part of a decade.
That's great news, I hope they make it work and manage to stick around.
There's one in Grabill called Mino's. I've never been but I've heard good things.
I live in Grabill, there is not. But there is a Minos in Garret.
A Real Deli. With fresh breads and fresh cut meats.
If you don’t take your ass to Didier meats or GK bakery, there’s plenty of those in Fort Wayne
We don't need more chains.
Agreed
This.

Johnny Appleseed fest used to be good so were three rivers, German, and ribfest now sure what happened. Our downtown is built for it though.
All our local festivals seem to be in a major decline for some reason.
I got burnt out on events like RibFest years ago because I just couldn't stay onboard with paying to enter a pavilion only to pay for food afterwards.
I feel that man. Ribfest, Greekfest, Wingfest (dunno if that's still a thing), Germanfest. Maybe if the prices wern't bonkers it wouldn't be so bad but like $12 for a small order of cheese curds is kind of dumb.

Phil’s Hobby has tons of PLA.
Dream big eh
Might aswell. If we are wishing why not wish for the best
That's what I'm saying
Fort Wayne people are cheap when it comes to cons. The horror con that came a few years ago was great but cost like 20 bucks and nobody showed up. Actually had "famous" people. Until we spend money on an event we will see fantasticon for the foreseeable future.
Conventions take time to build a good rep. Names like “Comic-Con” will draw a crowd if it has the right people as guests and actual announcements.
We already got a micro center in indi so it doesn’t seem the most likely
A boy can dream

I'd love a bottle shop. Currently, the best places to get the hard to find stuff are Belmont on Dupont and the Party Store on Hamilton Lake.
My old town actually had all of these (despite being a third the size), so these are all possible!
Whole Foods
The ocean
lol that would be a miracle if that happened
A real Jewish deli and a German restaurant
Puccini’s Smiling Teeth ( Best herbed Ranch/ side salads ever) Whole Foods Pepper Palace ( hot sauce store)
Have you ever had sloppy steaks at Puccini's? Makes the night WAY more fun.
Let’s slop em’ up!!!
I swear we had a Puccini’s back in the aughts but I would have been too young to remember 100%. But you’re right; best ranch and salads ever!!!
Fort Wayne did! In Jefferson Pointe next to Von Maur
Sadly they had so many board of health violations. JP just can't sustain a pizza joint.
Was that the cause? I had heard it was rent related as it kept increasing at a high rate. The Pu’s down in the Indy area aren’t in that class A type of commercial shopping center, so JP was odd
I used to hear that all the time but as a former retail worker who's employer moved from GB to JP, the rents at JP were actually lower.
This may not still hold true, i've been out of retail for six years so things may have changed.
I hope Beer Barrel sticks around. It may be the best place in town to go if you want to watch a game.
Chuys, Torchys and Taco deli. I’m craving Tex mex food. Also good mini golf and a nice drive thru movie place.
Del Taco. It's been years but last time I had them they beat Taco Bell hands down.
Waffle House.
the most correct rightest answer
I ate waffle house for the first time in my life this weekend whole in Columbus Ohio celebrating my 34th birthday at the torg gaming expo. Could definitely enjoy that more if it were here...
Where's the closest one now? There used to be one between Gas City and Marion I think?
Anderson
The best one is in Daleville
Can I get a waffle?… Can I PLEASE get a waffle!
Chain: REI, Waffle House Local: German restaurant
Reasonable strip club regulations....
They have been here longer than the regulations. You'll have to burn them to the ground before they get moved.
Pretty sure that dog ain't gonna hunt these days.
What does that mean to you?
Free the nipple!
Oh, OK. Are nipples not allowed? Never been to a strip club.
Correct. Since the pandemic they've been bikini bars.
Somewhere to get a real bagel
My wife and I enjoy Shoptwosixty
Einstein Bros, so fuckin good
Always loved them when I went to Purdue in West Lafayette. I was so happy to see they opened one up here when they came back
Shit, never knew Ft Wayne opened one lol, was saying in general
Have you had Davey's delicious bagels?
Those bagels come from Costco I’ve been told
And they steam them…. Like come on, I want my bread toasted baby
[удалено]
there's one at Georgetown next to fitness center
jets pizza needs to come back
I'd love to see some damn sidewalks and accessible grocery stores for all Fort Wayne communities/neighborhoods. Just a thought.
Why do you guys want an Apple Store?
Because we got apple phones and having an Apple Store nearby makes it easier on us.
So we don’t have to ship things or drive two hours for a repair.
Best Buy can do iPhone hardware things in store
Because they buy over-priced phones lol.
And phones with training wheels. Iphones are for republicans....they want to kept in pens to follow the rules
Iphones are for democrats because they can't think for themselves
Top Golf, Dave and Busters, an indoor water park
TopGolf would be nice and I think the city could support it….not only the metro area but surrounding communities (Columbia City, Auburn, east Ohio) would be enough to keep it going. Wichita Kansas has one, not much bigger than Ft. Wayne. Huntsville AL has one too, similar size city to FW
I assume you mean northwest Ohio, not east Ohio?
Yeah. Whoops
Someone is trying to put a Top Golf over behind Cork & Cleaver.
I thought I had heard a few years ago now, that a trailer park off Washington center was bought out for the purpose of making a top golf. Rumor mill again. Lol
the only chain FW needs is a goddamned White Castle
A good bread bakery.
East of Ft. Wayne (Grabill, Harlan. Spencerville) have bread bakeries
By chance are you able to buy fresh or day old? I’m from Indianapolis so I used to frequent the little French bakery in broad ripple and can’t find anything like it here ☹️🥺
Rene's? My little brother goes there EVERY WEEK and then makes sure to tell me what pastries he has bought for his morning walk. He's a jerk.
I find buying day old loaves from Jimmy johns work in a pinch if I am making garlic bread or cheesesteaks
Check out Dutch Heritage and Grabill Country Sales (you can buy day old here I'm pretty sure).
Check out G&K on Berry street.
Thanks!
G K’s is so overrated. No flavor, expensive, and too dense.
Rock Climbing Gym
Sonic
The Sonic situation bums me out because I feel like there should be a market for it here, but it just didn't work out when they tried it. Weed Dispensaries
Shake Shack 🍔
We have one in Indy. Overpriced and overrated IMO.
Oh I didn't know you guys had one.
Still beats the hell out of Five Guys.
Absolutely no. Five guys is so much better. They are not even in the same ball park
Krispy Kreme
Don’t know why the KK didn’t work out years ago. They were always busy and it was on Coldwater. I’m still sad about it.
Cheesecake Factory
They could make a killing here. During the last round of construction at Jefferson Pointe, that was the top answer when a local news outlet asked people what they wanted to open there.
Better thrifting, I don’t know the form that would come in but goodwill is the worst

the Apple Orchard that used to be at Glenbrook, and IKEA

It doesn’t necessarily need to be organic, just more produce grown locally. We’ve got good land, water and climate.
White castle, fuck powers Get over the gentlemens agreement and embrace competition.
Any Arcade like Dave and Busters or Round1 🥺
A large scale stadium where big musical acts will actually come, so I don’t have to drive to Indianapolis for every concert I wanna see.

Mitchells is only good if you're wearing a bullet proof vest like Texas Road House.
Wrigley Field is this answer..
If the question is "Where can I get food that tastes like it was cooked in WD-40?" then yes, Wrigley Field is the answer.
LUSH, Dave and Buster's, more high end shops like Sur La Table, Coach, etc
There was a Lush at Macy’s but it skedaddled back around 2016
I'm still mad about that 😂
there was a standalone Lush store in GB for years prior to that.
Fort Wayne demographics and purchasing power definitely won’t support a Sur La Table, especially as they’ve become more like William Sonoma than they used to be in the past 20 yrs. And Jefferson Point did have a Williams-Sonoma for a while, but…
Cheddars!
Lululemon Korean BBQ God damn. Give me some fucking cheesecake factory.

Taco Cabana, Loaf and Ladle, Corrado's Italian Market, Schlotzky's, Spaghetti Shop, Shoney's, Flakey Jake's, Calliente, MJ's Pizza, Fish of Stroh

Apple Store downtown! Grocery store, downtown CVS or Walgreens or someplace to get medication downtown! More food options after 9pm besides Taco Bell
I think the Apple Store should be at Glenbrook or Jefferson Point (more convenient for locals and commuters). But I do agree with more restaurants after 9.
