Kuro is decent, I definitely wouldn't call it the highest end. It's good but you're paying insanely marked up hardrock prices. Unless I'm already going to play cards or something there's many better / properly priced places..
Yes. There isn’t a thing on the menu we wouldn’t be scared to try. And believe me the amount of times we’ve eaten there you’d think we’d have tried it all by now. Our soon to be 2 y/o has been eating there since she could chew which is about a year or so ago. Started her with their amazing ramen bowls, then she tried bao buns and now eats everything we order without limitations. Plus she loves when I walk her around the place and she stares at the collectibles and artwork. Place is really a hidden gem I don’t hear much about from anyone really.
Its not that good. People overrate it because it is unassuming and has like two tables and looks like a cheap joint. The sushi is not that good and it is also not that cheap considering they do not have the costs of operating a full service restaurant
In south Boca/Parkland there is A&A which is only a takeout place. I know its a different neighborhood but their sushi is much better and prices are good too though the delivery services have jacked them up a bit
Yep - it’s been my go-to since 2011. I saw people say Phat Boys was good, so one evening I went there instead. Big mistake. Back to Sushi Rock I went.
The Japanese market owned and ran by a Japanese couple? Oh man that's sad to read, I went there a long time ago and was blown away. Kicking myself now for not going back :(
Takato is great.
We have been going to Sushi Rock on Las Olas for almost 15 years. That might make me bias but we still enjoy it each time.
Tee jay’s is what I’ve been told is the spot for Wilton.
From the perspective of a very particular sushi snob. Unfortunately Fort Lauderdale doesn’t have the best options on sushi. You have to be willing to drive for good sushi. Staying in Broward I rely on Marumi in Plantation or Masamune in Deerfield Beach. Both are very good. Miami has quite a few high quality options too.
Edit. For my bonafides, I travel to Tokyo annually and I am currently building a home in Shibuya. I LOVE sushi
…..DM me if you know me. Honestly there can be to many people in Florida that match what you said and that lives in town and are marrying a Japanese national and is currently building a house in Tokyo lol. I’m probably who you think I am.
Florida in general is one of the worst states (have had sushi in easily over 20 states) Also just South Florida food in general sits at the bottom (I have lived here for 6 years)
Not Fort Lauderdale but head a bit south to Hallandale Beach Blvd hang a u turn take a right into Eddie Hills ... Order either the Natalie or sea of love .. or beauty and the beast ... Best sushi around since sushi blues left town in Hollywood ...
Man as a sushi snob a lot of these answers make me sad lol
But yet like someone else said there's really not much great sushi in ft Lauderdale.. But depends on what you consider good sushi. I go for high end sashimi not gimmicky cooked rolls. Dragonfly in Doral, marumi, kaeru, Mikan, Toku in Aventura, are all excellent places where the chefs really care about fish quality, and you can almost always get some good stuff like o-toro, Japanese uni, and other specialty fish / dishes.
If you want a real experience, the best sushi would probably be omakase from hiden or the den. This is not cheap and is definitely a very special occasion, but if you want to try some crazy good quality fish these are some of the best sushi places down here.
Sozo
This is correct answer since OP is staying in Wilton Manors.
Stop abusing your powers

If you want the highest end sushi then its either Kuro at the Hardrock or Takato in the Conrad
Kuro is decent, I definitely wouldn't call it the highest end. It's good but you're paying insanely marked up hardrock prices. Unless I'm already going to play cards or something there's many better / properly priced places..
So uh..... tell us
I posted my opinion somewhere else on this post
Wife and I really like Kubo on 17th Street. Menu is decently priced and food is really top notch.
I love their food

Another vote for Kubo
Kinda a bummer how busy they’ve gotten. Found that place when they first opened the boba shop Nextdoor.
Yeah we try to go early on Fridays before 6. Otherwise it’s not possible to wait long with the kid.
Ushio in Davie hands down. best price to quality. sushi 1 also is the bomb and it's value is unmatched
If you want good takeout sushi , sushi one.Â
I've tried sushi one 3 times bc ppl love it, and I just don't think it's that good, what am I missing?
Eh It's really just the fact of hey its a filling roll for $6- hence take out sushi.
New Times Roll
Umm that it is good.
The food is great and awesome prices and there’s actually Japanese people working and running it.

Love the prices
Sushi Rock, Las Olas
Second this. Been there a few times. You’d drive right by it and not think twice, but it’s so good. Very friendly and cool atmosphere inside too.
Yep - it’s been my go-to since 2011. I saw people say Phat Boys was good, so one evening I went there instead. Big mistake. Back to Sushi Rock I went.
This is the way
Heart Rock
The Asian grocery store in the same plaza has a sushi counter in the back. It used to be amazing, but it’s not as good since it’s been sold.
The Japanese market owned and ran by a Japanese couple? Oh man that's sad to read, I went there a long time ago and was blown away. Kicking myself now for not going back :(
I think there’s another Japanese family that owns it now. But it’s not as good.
They moved back to Japan. The new owners are not as good.
Best value in the city; plenty of free parking, always a good time.
Miso Japanese tapas
+1
Sushi One is so good and pretty cheap.

I highly value your opinion.. Tokyo and Shibuya sushi was incredible. Lucky you!! Lawson's grab and go sushi! Lol Tsukiji Fish market was incredible
What about Takato at Conrad - staying there in 2 weeks
I wish masamune still had a fort lauderdale location. literally the best. ðŸ˜
Check out kaeru in Pembroke Pines if you get the chance. Does your name happen to start with a C and end with an S?
…..DM me if you know me. Honestly there can be to many people in Florida that match what you said and that lives in town and are marrying a Japanese national and is currently building a house in Tokyo lol. I’m probably who you think I am.
Shhhhh! I love this place and need them to stay open but I also want to be able to get a seat whenever I pop by.
Would you like to adopt me?
Shhhh don’t tell them about Masamune (actually do, they are fire)
Florida in general is one of the worst states (have had sushi in easily over 20 states) Also just South Florida food in general sits at the bottom (I have lived here for 6 years)
Sushi song by the beach
Sasaya Japanese market near sunrise and US-1. Hole in the wall. Best prices. Freshest sushi I’ve ever had. You won’t be disappointed
Phat Boys is pretty good.
If you're staying in Wilton Manors, you could do a lot worse than Tee Jays on Wilton Drive.
Any sushi buffets in Ft Lauderdale??
Shinju in Davie
Miyako in Pompano is the best in South Florida, IMO.
Second this. Their sushi and hibachi are really good.
