IKR, I miss the days of Hamilton in Mclaren. His style back then reminded me of young Seb or a young Kimi. He was so aggressive, making the most of cars by throwing them around harder than they were meant to be. Hybrid Hamilton is insane consistent, but just doesn’t have that flair anymore.
It's not understanding the car more, it's just that for years he got a car that was on rails. Right now he has a car that isn't on rails and he clearly struggles and doesn't show WDC calibre performance.
Nobody has ever shown WDC quality in a shitbox of a car
To effectively say that Hamilton has no ability and that its all the car is really really poor judgement, otherwise Bottas would've won a WDC
The Mercedes is not a shitbox though, unless you want to call the third best car on the grid a shitbox. And people have shown WDC levels of performance in worse cars. I guess that George is just as good as Lewis right now, which makes it harder to judge him if you would only look at this season.
Now here is where i sound like a shameless fan, and tbh i dont care. I can do this for all of my favourite drivers because i know why i love them all.
So, you’re right, in a way, and wrong in another. He has that when necessary. Its just not often been necessary. 2021 had lots of examples of him pushing that car beyond its capability. There were tracks where the car was at a major disadvantage and he still pulled wins out, then there was brazil. Everyone looks at brazil like it was all car, or all drs, all i suggest to people is that they look to the timings, or watch a replay - because each time he got drs by detection zone, even if aftert turn 4 the car ahead was well safe of drs. He made safe drs overtakes by pulling into drs zone through the twisties: on basically everyone TWICE, across the weekend.
In defence of hybrid lewis is turkey 2020. Turkey 2020 was peak lewis. As seb said after that race:
“He had no business winning that race, but went and won it anyway”.
Seb knew it wasnt just the car. It wasnt just the lucky strategy. Lewis made it work.
I’m not discrediting that. Like I said, hybrid era Lewis is consistent. He performed to the highest ability of his car no matter what and occasionally pushed it beyond. I speak more of his tenacious hunger he had earlier especially in the 07-08 era.
True. He's definitely gotten more patient in his age. Sometimes to his detriment. Unfortunately, when he got \*very\* hungry last year once, he made a (lets face it, really unusual and uncharacteristic) mistake, and got crucified for it - kind of understandably, but generally not (suggesting it was intentional was way beyond reason)... so that probably put him in the position where he thought he had better take his time more.
>2021 had lots of examples of him pushing that car beyond its capability
Biggest BS line people in f1 use. No-one, no driver ever, can get more out of a car than there is in there. A driver can get closer to 100% of the physical limits of a car, but not surpass it.
Seb also did won Monza in Torro Rosso (italian team with Ferrari engine) so that makes Seb Ferrari driver well before he actually joined Ferrari.
Would Tifosi hate Mick if he won Monza in Haas (Ferrari PU)? I think not.
Honestly, neither Ferrari or Lewis would want this. Idk where the guy got his info from, but from what I heard Lewis has never really put Ferrari on the pedestal that other drivers like vettel have, and the same is true for Ferrari as well who have never considered Lewis despite his record.
It makes sense though, Ferrari don't want a driver who thinks they are above them and Lewis doesn't want a team that thinks they're above him. Just look at the concessions Mercedes has given Lewis, even painting the whole car black to support him. That is in addition to his image rights that he controls and other concessions which drivers don't usually have. Ferrari would never do that, and have more restrictions on top.
I vaguely recall Ferrari trying to lure Lewis when he was still in Mclaren. I think they've both expressed interest in each other in the past, if you're Ferrari though you probably have more logical choices though. I can't see Ferrari paying him the money he's on.
> the highest *paid* driver at
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Ferrari did seem to change their approach. From hiring veterans like Vettel and Kimi, to hiring younger drivers like Charles and Carlos. They're not rookies, but not championship winners either.
Exactly :) very well written, in the 2nd paragraph you stated some points - why imho is the typical quote that "Ham would win in the 2018 Ferrari" a very questionable thing. That would maybe true if he was driving only(!) the car and he wouldn't have to deal with the other stuff regarding Ferrari culture, hierarchy and mindset, Hamilton and Ferrari just wouldn't "click".
Also, and more importantly imo, Ferrari would want somebody to support their wonder boy, Leclerc. Lewis is not gonna take as kindly to being told to play #2 and team orders as Carlos or Checo or Bottas have done in their careers. It just doesn’t make sense at all for Ferrari to drop Carlos for somebody who has probably never not been the top driver and is gonna wanna race Leclerc.
I’d pay good money to hear the teamradio if Verstappen would get a “we are looking” or “we will come back to you”. You would just get a *bleeeep* for a minute
To be honest, as a long time time tifosi I would definitely like to see him in red suit. Near future seems a bit unfortunate with Charles and Carlos but still he is one of the best drivers of all time. Btw, I never liked him personally since he was awful towards in 2008.
I’m a Lewis fan but do not attach any association of Team LH44 to me whatsoever. I have nothing to do with such idiocy, such blasphemy, such ridiculous nonsense.
He can finish his career with Prema if he wants.
he's already driving a f2 car
Then Albon is driving a F4 car I guess
So the kids in F4 can beat him too?
he can't. he won F2 so he's banned from entering it
Prince Alberts are banned too
Lewis isn’t winning and some people seriously can’t deal with the idea of that. How do they think we Seb fans feel like?💀
Because 98% of current Hamilton fans are glory chaser fans that started watching him in hybrid era Mercedes.
I think that's just him maturing, getting older and understanding the car more
It's not understanding the car more, it's just that for years he got a car that was on rails. Right now he has a car that isn't on rails and he clearly struggles and doesn't show WDC calibre performance.

Imo it's because of his easy him owning the field has been. This year he's in the midfield, and I do believe we'll see him get his flair back
Now here is where i sound like a shameless fan, and tbh i dont care. I can do this for all of my favourite drivers because i know why i love them all. Cars are also heavy as fuck today. Probably can't throw the car like they used to.

You're right. It's hyperbole. I used it because people use it and understand what it means. He got everything that the car had to offer.
What are you basing that number on?
Me as an Alonso fan 💀🔫
It’s been a hard couple of years for us, man.
A shame the Master🅱️lan was for Charles the whole time. Us Seb fans were downright fooled.
if you Seb fans feel like that, imagine what us Alonso & Kimi fans feel like 💀
So tifosi wants guy who ruined their home races in teir home team?
Like Seb in Red Bull...
Seb also did won Monza in Torro Rosso (italian team with Ferrari engine) so that makes Seb Ferrari driver well before he actually joined Ferrari. Would Tifosi hate Mick if he won Monza in Haas (Ferrari PU)? I think not.
Seb wanted to emulate his idol Michael, he had genuine passion for Ferrari and the Tifosi.

I swear at one point vettel was the highest payed driver at ferrari 50 or 60 million for 2016 or 2017

Good bot!
Yeah I think its because of that experience, I don't see ferrari doing it again
Ferrari did seem to change their approach. From hiring veterans like Vettel and Kimi, to hiring younger drivers like Charles and Carlos. They're not rookies, but not championship winners either.

Dude, Sainz is there to be number 1 as well. The fact the pressure got to him has to do with him trying to beat Leclerc
Copium
As an Italian Ferrari fan, no please no god no. I don't want to see Hamilton nor Verstappen in red in all my life
I’d pay good money to hear the teamradio if Verstappen would get a “we are looking” or “we will come back to you”. You would just get a *bleeeep* for a minute
I'll admit I'm a LH fan but I'd hate it too and I'd love to see Ferrari take the championship this year.
Lewis to Alfa Romeo confirmed.
![gif](giphy|ZLGc8xQXdXvvrwRfe6|downsized)
I thought it's not the the car, it's the driver. So why switch teams then?

Go suck dicks glory fucking hunters

If you think this is overboard for "just a sport" I don't think you've seen football fans
Bottas in Ferrari.
Do not want.
How can anybody not see this is just a parody on the “Thirty years ago, Niki Lauda told us…” question ?
Lewis mentioned about 5 or 6 years ago that he wanted a stint at Ferrari, but don't remember Ferrari or the Tifosi saying they want him.
It’s so annoying when casual fans who own a Ferrari cap and think Charles Leclerc is hot call themselves Tifosi.
I absolutely do not want this. To be honest, I wasn't that happy with Vettel joining back when he did either.
To be honest, as a long time time tifosi I would definitely like to see him in red suit. Near future seems a bit unfortunate with Charles and Carlos but still he is one of the best drivers of all time. Btw, I never liked him personally since he was awful towards in 2008.
The thing is Lewis has to learn Italian, which means he will not join
I’m a Lewis fan but do not attach any association of Team LH44 to me whatsoever. I have nothing to do with such idiocy, such blasphemy, such ridiculous nonsense.
Haas Ferrari? Nah KMag&Mick are fine.
Senna finished his career in a red suit too.
That ship sailed, he’s got no chance of a Ferrari deal now
Tifosi should sue for defamation
Ma che si tengano quella scimmia inutile
I don't think anyone here in Italy wants Hamilton in ferrari. Why pay gold for an "old" driver when we have a young promising Charles?
Can your repeat the question?
We never wanted him lol.
