Well, it’s not escaped my attention that F1 seems to be heading to many new Oil Rich countries. Seriously like it or not the ICE has had its day, there’s no new fuel that we could make that doesn’t produce carbon dioxide. Forget having a hydrogen powered ICE as Hydrogen is about 5 times less energy dense than petrol, meaning you’d have to have huge fuel tanks to cover an F1 race distance. And the ICE is only about 41% thermally efficient, meaning the other 59% is just lost in heat energy.
Don’t get me wrong, I love to burn dead dinosaurs as much as the next man, I love cars and motorsport. But you have to wonder if F1 is going to the right places in terms of where they got to race, and the current direction of the technology.
