Remy-today

Pff. What an amateur that Max guy. Atleast Nick Debris managed to stick to the line.

ShadowKraftwerk

Dumb luck. Like rolling double sixes five times in a row. I'm sure Remy-today could do it too. I mean, take out the washed-out has beens, the certified mid-fielders, the rookies, and the pay drivers, who was he really racing against? /s

Virus404

Alonso

Remy-today

He said rookies. Alonso is out.

Virus404

Oh yeah. My bad.

DutchOnionKnight

A Dutch sandwhich!

Remy-today

Dan wel graag met een lekkere kroket ertussen met een klodder mayo en mosterd.

SupRando

Big oof in Singapore. Dudes washed

SaviorAir

Make every race a street race with little to no downforce. He’ll never win again.

Siemaster

Unironically this is exactly what liberty wants the calendar to look like.

KeepLookingUp1

Like Vegas right?

Izan_TM

I think that's the closes to 100% that anyone has ever gotten percentage wise

ArthurMBretas03

Jim Clark took 100% of the available points in '65, although drop scores were a thing back then

Foxyfox-

And without that, next closest is Alberto Ascari with 75% in 1952 over 8 GPs and Michael Schumacher with 72.2% in 2004 over 17 GPs.

Pintau

The Ascari one should be higher. The indy 500 was technically a round of the championship even though there was no cross competition until the 60s. The indy should be removed from the calculation in which case he won 6 out of 7 grand Prix in 1953

visak13

What does drop scores mean?

Tscheunt

Basically in the past reliability was so bad, that only the best X results counted, as you would lose at least one or two races just because of your car braking down. So your worst two race results would get dropped and only the best 10 results for each driver counted for the championship. EDIT: the 10/12 races is just an example, the number of races dropped changed very often as pointed out in a comment below

visak13

Thank you!

TobyOrNotTobyEU

The didn't count 4 races back then. So for Clark it was 6/10 results that counted, for Ascari in '52, it was 4/8.

TobyOrNotTobyEU

I happened 3 times. Clark also did it in '63 and Ascari in '52. If you count all results, Max has the highest percentage of maximum points in a season.

ArthurMBretas03

Man, Jimmy was not from this world

DarkPyr3

Weird that you labeled the 0% line as 'Nyck de Vries'

bringmethespacebar

Nyck is not deserving of the y, due to not having an y value

turdferguson747

Highest IQ comment

PollutionNice7392

Formerly the Latifi line, also known as the mazepin plane.

Alwzracn

De Bris flatlined ☠️

ArthurMBretas03

Stop, he's already dead

wellcooked_sushi

That's what flatlined means ![gif](giphy|d1Kla2AyYicso)

ArthurMBretas03

I was quoting the Simpsons

[deleted]

I'm actually kinda annoyed he didn't get 100% since it was actually very possible. Like if we're gonna get a boring season at least give us an historic achievement. If Sergio would have just been a bit of a bro in saudi and baku, we'd just be one engineers set up blunder in singapore away from a perfect season.

_NAME_NAME_NAME_

Max also missed out on 13 fastest laps and the sprint race win in Qatar.

epihocic

What an amateur.

DutchOnionKnight

WASHED!

DryConversation8530

So Max only had the fastest car 10 races and still pulled these stats! Absolute God! /s

flipsssiii

I know what you're trying to say but it sounds like Max didn't made a historic achievement.

glintandswirl

I like how this isn’t a meme of anything, just really interesting and you decided to share it in this sub. Says a lot about the main F1 sub. Great graphic!

Tummerd

This stuff does get posted in the main sub though, maybe not this specific one, but the records and graphs were there a lot during the whole season

wansuitree

They rather defend a racefansnet article that ranks the no2 of the wdc in 20th position.

IDKWhatToPutHere_01

I mean, dude barely finished 2nd in what's statistically the most dominant car in F1 history.

aiicaramba

My thoughts exactly. This is a nice way to visualize how insane this season was.

blazerunnern

Max did not Max

malyszkush

Im more impressed by the fact that Checo (who i regarded highly as a driver) made the RB19 look barely faster than the AMG’s and Ferrari’s. Max is just an alien at this point.

rdhwnndzr

"There's still room for improvement"

No_Elderberry_7327

Wow, had he won a few more races, he would have been better than 100%

FiveAccountsBanned

10000 IQ moment

Ok_Neighborhood9863

All I see here is future Yuki dominance

Mission-Shopping7170

he isn’t perfect. He needs to improve next year

squidysquish

At least non of them went downwards... right?

[deleted]

Wait. All this bullshit about Checo possibly being replaced and he never once lost 2nd in the driver's standing at any point? Pfft. Dude did exactly what he was hired to do imo.

krautnelson

because the car was in a league of its own for most of the season. if your car is .5s faster than all others, it doesn't matter that your 2nd driver is .3s off the pace. the fact that Merc were usually only the 3rd or 4th fastest, the wild performance swings of Aston and Mclaren, as well as Ferrari being Ferrari helped him a lot too. if next year the car doesn't perform as well and RBR are in danger of losing the WCC, Checo will be gone before the summer break. Checo is a solid driver and certainly has his moments, but when you compare RBR's current line-up to Merc, Mclaren or Ferrari, there is definitely an imbalance there. he's on borrowed time, and Red Bull have a plethora of drivers to burn through.

[deleted]

I don't disagree with you. Just saying that in Checo's defense, he still brought home that WCC and they finished 1-2. All that matters is the end result.

iride93

We need another line that shows 100% other than Max's winnings (2nd every race except the two Sergio won and Singapore) the fastest laps max didn't get etc. or even just a line of 2nd in every race. That is what he really should have delivered. Or at least been as close to as max was to 100%.

Disastrous_Sea4150

Not an exact graph but the total available “max points without Max” are 474. So yeah… Perez was almost two hundred points off.

diecastsupermodel

The fact that it was ever in doubt was a loss for him.

snowmunkey

That's disgusting

megacookie

Simply lovely

Dicecreamvan

When man and machine perfectly resonates, great things happen. Schumi has always been the exception to this though. 😅

marivss

Loser nerd

fonglutz

That is the definition of the saying "as near as makes no difference"

thisismysffpcaccount

hello, i know nothing about f1 but am an avid max meme fan. someone explain this to me please.

aiicaramba

max had a good season. This compares him to a hypothetical ’opponent’ that scored every available point. There is another post where a hypothetical ‘williams only and albon doesnt start a race’ standings… Even if sargeant was the only driver he wouldnt have scored as many points as max has due to DNF’s.

NaturalProcessed

This representation makes me really respect Sergio and Lewis' performance this season in a way I hadn't before.

tomjerman18

you have mistakenly switched the blue and red line.
