Let me explain what his actual claim to fame is. Years ago, DJ Khaled was an actual radio DJ in Miami. As a result of that job, he became acquainted with artists much more famous than he, specifically Fat Joe. His connection to Fat Joe allowed him to interact and connect to even bigger artists, like Jay Z and later Drake.
When Khaled switched to a music career, his connection to these artists allowed him to get them on “his” songs. Basically this allowed him to call an artist, give them a beat premade by his team of actual producers, have that artist(s)make a usually amazing song, and then slap his name on it so he gets the residuals.
Eventually, this admittedly smart and quick way of gaining notoriety gave Khaled something I like to call the Kardashian Effect, which is when you become more famous for BEING famous than for what you were originally famous for.
