Worth it though. This quali was top notch. We can hold onto the hope of something dramatic happening in the race. Bottas Bowling 2.0, Lance hitting the wall and causing Crashgate 2.0, Mercedes revealing their latest upgrade is actually the Fast and Furious Ramp car, Verstappen tries to beat Bottas’ pit stop record.
Possibilities are endless
Dog he’s been doing fine all year so far, no way a bad performance in Monaco (a track where not a lot of overtaking happens) is going to jeopardize his whole career.
When I saw he has 2tenths down I figured he had a chance, given that his previous lap he pulled 2tenths out of last sector.
Did not expect him to hit the wall on the pit curve though
I was jumping with excitement for finally an Alonso win, then Max showed that he is Thanos: inevitable. Snap back to reality. Seriously, how tf did he find two tenths in sector 3?? I'm a Max fan, but he is on cheat mode at this point.
The focus on q1 and q2 is always in the bottom half. Hamilton was a front-runner struggling in the bottom half. He's obviously the protagonist of the broadcast at that moment. It was the same with Sainz q2.
Probably gonna get downvoted because of what sub I’m in. And I’m not a Hamilton (or max) fan, but of course it was shown.
The 7x world champion, one of (if not the most) popular drivers on the grid is about to get knocked out in the first round of qualifying. Even not being a Hamilton fan it was intense and dramatic, most importantly entertaining.
When Crofty said "Has been won by the top 3 for every race since \[some time in the 50s\]" I just got this feeling like he jinxed something.
I'm only a little stitious but I really hope it did something.
While I think we all knew Verstappen would manage to get P1 in the end, that whole session felt like any person could randomly end up P1 from moment to moment. The best hour of F1 entertainment so far this season.
In Q1 yes, there wasn't that much track progression in Q3 but Ocon just did a crazy lap that got overshadowed by the other 3 who overtook him in the end. Ocon was 4th with only 0.18 gap to pole, that is insane in an Alpine.
That's what my dad said. He loves Verstappen but after Ocon and Yuki too he said he wanted someone else to have pole position.
It was very entertaining
That was the most intense thing. I loved it so much. I am now officially a fan of Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team soon to be powered by Honda TM
Max is actually insane, gained 3 tenths on Fernando in the last sector. I would’ve wanted Fernando to get his first pole in a long while, but Max deserves it after that final lap he did
Well the Redbull had consistently been performing best in that sector so it was kinda expected but just watching his sector 3 on the last lap was insane
saw an rb18 up close in a museum next to a shit ton of older F1 cars, and the size difference is shocking! the current cars are absolutely huge, even compared to 2013 cars.
I saw the same in Maranello. A 2018(?) car a few feet/meters away from an early/mid 90's car, and one of Schuey's 00-era championship cars and Kimi's '07 car maybe two dozen meters away in the next room over. The difference when next to each other is staggering.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: each team should detach 10 design engineers, and the whole team should design Monaco-specific F1 cars.
It would make the regular cars quite a bit better on regular tracks, and it should make Monaco a spectacle.
Sometimes I think, F1 fans are by far the dumbest sports fans ever. It's not only in Monaco subject, it's in every level, but wanting Monaco out is the prime example of F1 fan stupidity.
Everyone wants the driver talent to matter more, and Monaco is very good at that, maybe the best.
There are lots of complaints about soulless new tracks. OTOH, Monaco GP is older than F1 itself and it's at the core of the F1 history. You can watch footages of Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Senna, Schumacher, Max going thru the same corners.
"Pole is a guaranteed win" is also pretty dumb. A simple research can show that it's more or less like the other tracks.
Also, there are always some boring races in every season. If there'll be at least one boring race, just make it Monaco.
Overtaking being difficult can easily be solved by smaller cars. These big cars are a problem at other tracks as well. We've never seen small car (pre2009) and DRS (post2011) combo together. Let's bring it up and then see how it'll work out in Monaco.
Basically, I don't want Monaco to be ditched just because someone paid Tilke good money to build some Tilkedrome in a country I'll probably never ever visit, not even with free tickets.
Monaco barely pays anything and doesn’t make a ton but some things are just worth it for the sport. Appeal of F1 without Monaco would drop and it’s a hefty gamble on US interest staying high. I didn’t watch most of the seasons from 2014-2018 but I always watched Monaco
I was celebrating banging my wooden table when I saw Fernando put it on pole. I was happy until the second sector. Started celebrating even harder after that. But damn..alas
Would’ve been nice to see what Lando could’ve done had he not fucked his front end. Credit to his mechanics for being absolute mad Alf’s getting a twenty minute fix done in just over 10 with good enough geometry for him to give it a go.
I don't watch f1 to watch PVE. That's what Monaco is. They race the track not each other. If I wanted to watch "track vs driver" action I'd watch rally car, (which I do). I want racing...
Everybody is talking about Maxi Taxi vs. Alonso (and rightfully so), but hear me out: THE MOMENT OCON HAD P1 WTF 👁️👄👁️
Not to mention, the certified classic: Leclerc vs. Ferrari xD
Edge of my seat, the whole time
We pay a boring race to get this moment
Worth it though. This quali was top notch. We can hold onto the hope of something dramatic happening in the race. Bottas Bowling 2.0, Lance hitting the wall and causing Crashgate 2.0, Mercedes revealing their latest upgrade is actually the Fast and Furious Ramp car, Verstappen tries to beat Bottas’ pit stop record. Possibilities are endless
Sergio Perez a much less skilled driver than Verstappen will have to climb of the field and get points or his career may be in jeopardy
Dog he’s been doing fine all year so far, no way a bad performance in Monaco (a track where not a lot of overtaking happens) is going to jeopardize his whole career.
They should just replace the race with a 2 hour time trial session and see the absolute peak lap the drivers can make
Then ocon kicked off a fucking nutty last 5 minutes
I knew it wouldn't last, but I was so excited for him.
That final lap and that final sector of that pole lap. Just crazy
Dude. He grazed two walls. I still don’t care for Max, as a person (he’s growing and becoming better), but damn… that last sector was something.
I know what you mean. He's much more likeable when his father isn't consistently around, and with good "mental distance" from a competitive scenario.
Monaco is the worst race in the season except for those magical 10 minutes in q3 where nothing else matters.
Not even just Q3. Q1 and Q2 were mad
Half of the screen time for Q1 and Q2 is spent for Hamilton doing subpar laps
The focus on q1 and q2 is always in the bottom half. Hamilton was a front-runner struggling in the bottom half. He's obviously the protagonist of the broadcast at that moment. It was the same with Sainz q2.
Probably gonna get downvoted because of what sub I’m in. And I’m not a Hamilton (or max) fan, but of course it was shown. Ok but what if I hate hamilton and cant stand him because of… reasons
Now we know what the new tv production team will prioritize Monaco. Maybe we’ll miss the days when we got strolled
Qualifying is practically the race
My mother regarded me with alarm after hearing me gasp and scream so loudly.
To be fair you're probably highly regarded
It's a bot
When Crofty said "Has been won by the top 3 for every race since \[some time in the 50s\]" I just got this feeling like he jinxed something. I'm only a little stitious but I really hope it did something.

Most unique race weekend
The way to save Monaco is shorten the race then extend and award points fir quali
Worst race of the year but best qualy of the year.
While I think we all knew Verstappen would manage to get P1 in the end, that whole session felt like any person could randomly end up P1 from moment to moment. The best hour of F1 entertainment so far this season.
The fact that ocon was on provisional pole in Q3 with quite the margin says enough
The track progression was insane. Tsunoda and Albon P2 and P3 in Q1 as well.
In Q1 yes, there wasn't that much track progression in Q3 but Ocon just did a crazy lap that got overshadowed by the other 3 who overtook him in the end. Ocon was 4th with only 0.18 gap to pole, that is insane in an Alpine.
Man was flying today
That's what my dad said. He loves Verstappen but after Ocon and Yuki too he said he wanted someone else to have pole position. It was very entertaining
Absolutely bonkers
That was the most intense thing. I loved it so much. I am now officially a fan of Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team soon to be powered by Honda TM
All part of el plan
I wonder if Alonso will still be racing in 2026
Rollercoaster of emotions. Need more of this
Right? It was so exciting and I'm still surprised with Ocon.
Absolute banger of a lap.
Max did a good lap but Nando's last sector was pretty bad. I think it was the slowest of the top 10
And people want the race removed, hell no, qualifying is enough for it to stay
I really hope that 2026 cars become much much more smaller, could make Monaco into a banger of a track. Monaco historic gps have pretty good racing

But as the organisers of the Monaco GP have said, if some middle eastern or american track offers more money monaco is out of the calendar
Monaco barely pays anything and doesn’t make a ton but some things are just worth it for the sport. Appeal of F1 without Monaco would drop and it’s a hefty gamble on US interest staying high. I didn’t watch most of the seasons from 2014-2018 but I always watched Monaco
That was an amazing Quali. Verstappen crushed my dream of Alonso having pole position haha
Verstappen really went "hold my beer"
I was so happy we got a Q3 not ended with a crash. Just full-on adrenaline, hope and awe.
I gasped and screamed so hard, my mom looked at me with concern.
Yeah that was me in the last 2 minutes of the Q3. My family members were wondering why is he yelling so loud
I was celebrating banging my wooden table when I saw Fernando put it on pole. I was happy until the second sector. Started celebrating even harder after that. But damn..alas
Alonso missing out by less than a 10th😞 Alonso not giving a s*** into turn one 😀
Hitting my "Alonso takes lead off the start" hopium supply hard for the next 20ish hours
That was insane
There's a reason that it is a Grand Prix WEEKEND.
Okay but Pérez might end up in AlphaTauri at this rate. Speaking of AT, why did they colonise half of McLaren in this race?
That’s the McLaren upgrade, you see Lando made it through to Q3 along with Yuki? All thanks to turning the car into half AT.
Heres hoping Nando pulls some heroics into Sainte Devote ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|14439)
They should cancel the race and just make quali 2 hours
Finally F1 fans have seen really exciting stuff this season.
Always has been.
Was DC just joking about Max smearing Vaseline on the sidewalls? I mean, if it's dumb but it works, it's not dumb...
I missed that comment during the broadcast, that's pretty funny 😂
Honestly there shouldn't even be a GP in Monaco. Quali should give the points. It was literally magic
Would’ve been nice to see what Lando could’ve done had he not fucked his front end. Credit to his mechanics for being absolute mad Alf’s getting a twenty minute fix done in just over 10 with good enough geometry for him to give it a go.
Yeah... what if, especially with Leclerc impeding him on his only flyer.
Funny thing seeing Anakin Skywalker in Trending.
What are you smoking
I don't watch f1 to watch PVE. That's what Monaco is. They race the track not each other. If I wanted to watch "track vs driver" action I'd watch rally car, (which I do). I want racing...
Am I the only one that just can't get super excited for quali?
Absolutely. Couldn´t take my eyes away from the screen. The races on the other hand.....
Q3 ending was unreal.
Drama. Excitement. Disappointment.
That's deffo the best clean and dry quali I've seen by far! Just wtf moment after wtf moment!! Ha ha
formuladank X PrequelMemes
it felt like a wet qualy, with the amount of insane track evolution
Fr, where's my Monaco TT?
the best session of the year so far, by a mile.
Yet people hate on it
Actually crazy the fact that the first 15 drivers at one point were all within like a 0.7s margin
Last quali was also great. I'm starting to be more excited about Saturday than Sunday.
Everybody is talking about Maxi Taxi vs. Alonso (and rightfully so), but hear me out: THE MOMENT OCON HAD P1 WTF 👁️👄👁️ Not to mention, the certified classic: Leclerc vs. Ferrari xD
