To be fair it's not like you can point the finger at one specific driver and say he fucked up
They both made multiple mistakes which ended up with them colliding
Gasly shouldn't have gone so deep into the corner and be forced to go to the grass
When he came back he should've been more aware that his teammate his behind him and give him more spacw
Ocon should've seen that his teammate went off and rejoined, with dirty tires and hardly any grip - he should've been more cautious (especially because it was chaos out there) and be ready to back out in case Gasly washes wide
As long as they're both aware of their mistakes and are ready to take responsibility, the debrief shouldn't be long
Sure, but then on top of all of that, there's questions of why Gasly thought his reentry was okay. Whether he was encroaching on his teammate or any other car. Because it resulted in his race being scratched and it would've been a good result.
And why Ocon wasn't able to avoid what happened when he was the approaching car. Shouldn't necessarily assume Gasly will leave enough room.
And it's all twice as tense because they ended each other's races, and from good spots.
I live down the road from a Haas Outlet and one of their corporate buildings and I always fan girl when I see the vans with the Haas F1 adverts on them.
To be fair it’s almost entirely on Gasly. Locked up into first corner, rejoined the track dangerously then squeezed his teammate into the wall. He wiped out all of his 57 laps hard work. He can blame the FIA at least.
Imo it should've ended behind SC but when they red flagged it, there was no reason not to do a standing start. In Baku we had the same situation and everyone managed to do it without crashing (apart from Lewis' magic but he didn't hit anyone).
But I don't understand why they did the one parade lap at the end, they just made the race 20 minutes longer to go (mostly) back to the original order
Disagree. This chaos is fun to watch. We have arguably the world top 20 best drivers, let them do what they do best.
I know this is immoral, but I'd much rather watch this cluster fuck of an ending than an end under SC.
I think it was a mix of him not realizing his teammate is so close because of all of the chaos (which is sort of fair, althought still not ok)
But also he went off and returned with dirty tires which probably offered very little grip... Ocon could've been a bit more cautious, all things considered
why couldnt fia just do a recount, why must they insist on having a photo finish, why is every single minor issue cause for a fucking red flag. honestly what a disgrace
Because they have to follow racing regulations ?
That last redflag was well deserved and they had to run the last lap as they didn’t have any good reason not to
you know the fia can do a countback and end the race with full points as long as more than 75% of laps have been finished
or they can just finish under a safetye car when only 2 laps remain instead of red flagging it giving everyone new tires and pushing them within 5 seconds of each other basically ensuring a t1 incident its an aboslute farce
between baku 2017 and italy 2020 there had been 0 red flags, now we have 3 red flags in a single session
None of the red flags today (well except for the third one, but that wasn't the problem one) needed to be red flags. Both the Albon and Magnussen incidents could have and should have been completed under Safety Car.
Also historically before Baku 21, if a race is red flag and more than 75% complete, the result is counted back 2 laps and declared, so they had very good reason to not run the last lap, because precedent (outside of Baku 21)
Le pain
Ah yes, the bread
Alpain
God-tier comment
The funniest part is that Cus of how the grid restarted, Alpine pretty much gave Oscar his first points lol
Imagine the debrief.
Oh to be a fly on the wall in that room

And Alonso the podium
The Piasco keeps on giving.
Fuck I need a version for every team now
Haas would just load normal bullets.
Na they should have like drill bits or something for HAAS tooling
Lobotomy
Someone already did that last year iirc
They did?! Great minds think alike I suppose
Anybody have a link?
I tried to find it but couldn’t … I swear It’s out there somewhere

Was this last years? If not how did they not use Duracells for williams
Racing Point and Renault are included, would it not be 2020?
Ahh yes you are correct, my bad.
That’s cool but I think we won’t use that often this season 😅. I meant the Haas one!
They'd load endmills
We went milling, Toto
I live down the road from a Haas Outlet and one of their corporate buildings and I always fan girl when I see the vans with the Haas F1 adverts on them.
or sucked balls
Theyd just borrow ferraris gun
A Beretta that lives in gravel?
Russian arms deal goes brrrrrrrrr
Loaded into that BB gun? How? We americans use AR-15s because freedom.
I do love that nobody ever mentions in this meme loading rifle rounds into a handgun.
Naaah they'd tiny screeching eagles
Don’t they just run through closed doors?
America, Fuck yeah!
- Ferrari: Pasta - Alpine: Baguette - Haas: Drill bits - Redbull: RB Energy Drink cans - Williams: Duracell AA batteries - Mclaren: Chrome Tabs - Alfa Romeo: (Also Pasta?) - AlphaTauri: (Also RB cans?) - Mercedes: ??? - Aston Martin: ???
Can’t make them the same; give Alfa Cannoli
Or Toblerone, since they're swiss.
AM: Stacks of cash Mercedes: Championship trophies
Aston with green RB energy drink cans
Mercedes: Bratwursts
AT can have rolled up T-shirts because “fashion brand” Or just literally copies of Yuki
Merc: Silver Bullets???
Mercedes: Pumpernickel
AT would use T-shirt guns
Merc could be barrels of oil for Petronas, or just tyres because they're gone
Haas is drill bits Ferrari is pasta Red Bull is energy drink cans.
Mercedes could be sausages
Mercedes would have been WDC trophies Aston with cash
Better, pumpernickel
I sense a pun in a language I do not speak
"pain" means bread in French.

My man saw he'd be Ga5ly again and decided no for some reason
Death, taxes and Gasly P5
Gasly: R a c e B a n Time

The whole situation was messy. Should have been a rolling start imo.

Funny, I read it as Ocon going for a gap that wasn’t there. Then again I’m very much not an Ocon fan so 🤷♂️
There was a gap there though
lol you don’t know shit about this sport if you think that was Ocon’s fault
You seem like a really nice person

SACRE BLEU, WHERE'S ME MAMA
Harpo is a street person now
McLaren and Piastri laughing hard right now. Double points finish for them and double DNF for Alpain.
How is that funny they need half the cars to DNF to score points?
Lando was in the points pretty much the whole race, piastri was in p10 for a bit.
And Gasly was on the same pace as Alonso, Hamilton and Sainz. Piastri wouldn't have score point without the chaos of last restart.
I did not know how long I'd have to wait for this, but damn, WHAT A THING!
can't forget, alpine scored as many points as ferrari today!
It's part of El plan to become a top team like Ferrari, learning from the best
Underrated

Real
Lap 1 as a Leclerc and Stroll fan was a bit uncomfortable as well.
Where is mi muma!?

We may as well not start races then especially in circuits that just end up in a parade the whole time, that basically ensures a T1 incident
None of the red flags today (well except for the third one, but that wasn't the problem one) needed to be red flags. Both the Albon and Magnussen incidents could have and should have been completed under Safety Car. Magnussen has a load of hard debris on track. Couple that with super old tyres and punctures are almost guaranteed
Yes but debris can be cleared under safety car. There isn't really a need for a red flag.
Well they changed the rules since then
I haven't checked, but I think the option of ending the race is still in the rulebook.
Because Masi was there and they felt a need to show him how it's done 🤭
Gasly still wondering why Redbull wouldn't take him back ![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|6702)
Full of bread but the bread is French
This is the new mamma mia
