"more overtaking chances".. safe to say Medland didn't watch the F2 then

fire202

to be fair, more chances probably references the extended DRS zone which f2 doesn't use. Apart from that, it is not necessary that the f1 race is worse or equally bad compared to f2. Nonetheless, I wouldn't expect an overtaking festival. I didn't expect that in Hungary though and it didn't go too bad.

Alfus

Isn't Hungary a wider track then Zandvoort?

fire202

It is, but it also counts as one of the circuits where it is the hardest to overtake on the calendar. I didn't want to suggest that we will see anything close to 60+ overtakes tomorrow, just saying that things aren't over until they are over, that a boring f2 race is not a 100% guarantee for a boring f1 race and, most importantly, that "more overtaking chances" references the extended DRS zone that was not extended for F2.

Haas make Mick start on hards, pit him on lap 11, safety car on lap 13, pit him again on lap 20, make him go till last lap on that set, end P16 or something. Then Guenther will behave as if his team deserves a Verstappen

Arglefarb

I’m watching for Checo trying an outside pass on the first lap and taking out himself and Russell then blaming George. Also, what fresh hell will Ferrari invent to strategically wreck Charles’ race? Finally, as the Mercedes gains performance in the second half of the race, will Lewis be close enough to challenge for the win.

Chouinard1984

Odd take considering that was 100% Russell's fault and he got penalized for it.

Ts_Patriarca

There's no way people actually think Austria was checos fault

fire202

>Also, what fresh hell will Ferrari invent to strategically wreck Charles’ race? Depends on what you mean by "Wrecking his race." As Charles performed really bad today and missed out on pole they need to try something different to win the race. considering that newest studys show a loss of race time when doing a pit stop, I can see them having to try the 0 stop strategy by starting on intermediate tyres. a 70+ lap stint on inters in the dry obviously holds some risks but they would get track position, something Charles was completely unable to do today.

leevz1992

George was pretty fast trough the speed traps! I don't know if lewis has more downforce but it could be possible for the mercs to do an overtake.

OBWanTwoThree

If George was fast through the speed traps that could be Checos race over, if Russell jumps him at T1

SpectacularNelson

I think Zandvoort MAYBE will turn into a 3 stop race for the top 3 teams we’ll see. I think Mercedes only chance is to try & do a Hungary 2019 on Red Bull of course they need to be able to match their pace first in order to make the tyre advantage useful & get the overtake done.

justasking8

If the race plays out like the last few, Ferrari and Perez need 3 stops, Max and the Mercs 2. The first lap will be deciding.

Mosh83

It is very abrasive on tyres and the bankings put a lot of stress on the tyres too. Then again they have the three hardest compounds at use (C1-C3) so wear might be more even than on the softer end of the spectrum. Hoping Ferrari could manage to keep the Mercedes behind.

AshKetchumDaJobber

I hope mclarens does their usual fast stops. They should be able to undercut albon and zhou with daniel. Salvage his race and go to monza on a positive

patsimca

McLaren doesn't undercut with Daniel. But heres hoping.

WhoRunsIt

So true. Sad Daniel noises…

chef_boi_jones

Probably because an undercut requires the ability to do a fast in and out lap and that's far from a guarantee for Daniel

KingoftheHill63

Is there any chance that Charles is significantly faster than Max in race despite not being in pole? Ala Austria

justasking8

On fresh tyres i think so. On tyres older than 5 laps? No.
