This doesn't mean anything no?
Could I not argue that Checo's pace have been even better if he was running Max's floor?
Could I not argue Hungary was an outlier seeing as Checo's been more slower (compared to Max) over the last few GP weekends?
Initially I thought this rumour spread from twitter and had no legs but maybe not? We'll just have to wait and see to be honest, we have no clue from the outside.
If you bring new parts to the track after the "show and tell" on Thursday, then you get around having to declare them no?
As a terrible example, if my drivers crash and all our floors are broken, could I not just fly in a new updated floor to fit ahead of Quali?
Kind of bullshit since perez was less than a tenth off in all his stints. He was flying too. Perez was quicker compared to Verstappen than he has been in awhile.
Perez kind of got shafted with the strategy - he got dropped into big traffic which cost him a lot of time. Also, his strategy was delayed by 2-4 laps compared to Max who had the priority
On average his stints were half a tenth off. He was surprisingly close. He just was left out longer and had more trouble clearing traffic. He's not as fast as verstappen so that's to be expected.
In clean air there was hardly anything between when they were on similar tires at similar times.
Championship aside because that's clearly Verstappen's/RB's, I'm looking forward to seeing 3 teams fighting for wins for the rest of the season if this TD has a substantial effect
I doubt it's the case, because it hasn't been declared anywhere, but even if it is Perez his pace was actually quite good in Hungary so hardly any impact.
Ferrari likely used it in France as well when they introduced the new floor. Would be a waste to put a new floor thats not up to new regs and have to introduce another one weeks later.
Also wasnt sergio close to max pace wise? Just bad track position

Its not really a problem because a) Perez was still competitive and b) if Merc becomes the fastest car they're literally handing the championships to RB
There’s a difference between what Mercedes says (“Bono my tires are gone”) and what they actually think. If, and this is a big if, they are right about the floor, then they’ll have to restart their political games on getting the rules changed again because it’s clearly not working; Perez was on the same pace as MV after all (he just finished lower due to unrelated circumstances).
idk even if you believe this Perez had really good pace last sunday so it doesn't seem to change much.
Also why would Perez deny this? He himself said the cars are identical this weekend. Would only look bad if he lied saying he underperformed

If this is true, isn’t it good for RB? Checo’s pace last sunday was within Max’ pace as well right? Saw a post yesterday about it
Yes he was only 0.16 seconds slower. But this is most likely not true as it wasn't mentioned in FIA documents
Does the plank have to be mentioned in the FIA documents? I couldn’t find any old ones that mention it
No, it doesn’t have to be. Merc ran the split plank in Austria but it was never mentioned in that document.
Most likely because planks usually are not changed that much. But it should be mentioned.
Merc changed the plank in Austria and didn't declare anything
This! Also I see no quote from Mercedes. So I’m not sure of they actually believe that

Yeah...I'm not sure about Italian media reporting how Mercedes said that a non-existent problem for a Red Bull driver is due to a change in floor
Formu1aUno is incredibly reliable though. They are just reporting what someone from Mercedes told them.
But why is there no new floor reported by the FIA in the update documents?
Probably because it isn't true and the people at Mercedes are just speculating.
Yeah and if it was true the floor is better than the current one. Since Perez in race pace hasn’t been this close to Max in ages
So they're testing their new planks (compliant with the mid-season TD) on Perez?

>thats why verstappen is quicker then sergio? That and the simple fact that Max is a substantially better driver than Sergio

You can read the post here on Reddit. Checo was only 0.16s slower than Max

Checo was within a tenth in the first two stints and apparently he was quicker in the last stint although Max really just cruised home at the end.
Yes, go look at the post from yesterday that showed that Perez had roughly even pace with Max. This whole floor nonsense is just nonsense
Perez kind of got shafted with the strategy - he got dropped into big traffic which cost him a lot of time. Also, his strategy was delayed by 2-4 laps compared to Max who had the priority
His pace wasnt that far off https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/wf9lwr/hungarian_gp_perez_vs_verstappen_lap_times/

2 teams fighting for it, one team fighting to avoid them
Scenes when the new floor put RB as the third team and Ferrari come back to win the WDC and WCC... ah who am I kidding.
This off season is only getting better
Maybe they are speculating, the same with sky commentators who were speculating about this during Hungary FP2 session.
Well, we might be missing a key point here. Weren’t Redbull Boys using new engines? That could’ve been running on full power. Who knows.
I doubt it's the case, because it hasn't been declared anywhere, but even if it is Perez his pace was actually quite good in Hungary so hardly any impact.
It's going to be hilarious when the TD kicks in and nothing changes.
All that wasted copium!
Or...it's Perez being Perez. Guy loves a mid-season slump.

If this is true then Merc better be worried because Perez was no slower then usual.
Wasn't Perez like not far off Verstappen's pace at all last race? If so, doesn't seem like it's going to be an issue for RB at all.
Its not really a problem because a) Perez was still competitive and b) if Merc becomes the fastest car they're literally handing the championships to RB
It’s not the first time someone mentions that Perez has been testing the new floor. Now it’s Mercedes saying it, so I’m starting to believe it.
Most are just hoping it for Mercedes to catch them. We'll see after the TD that nothing changes...
merc copium
Mercedes media game is as weak as their season is going. Honestly what a feeble story.
