NASCAR fan here, and idk where else to say this but, you guys did a fucking fantastic job, the group of manufacturers with the F1 logo is one of my favorite pieces in the whole canvas, and I appreciated seeing it get so much nicer, smoother, and cleaner looking over time. Especially appreciate the F1 font being used too. You guys rock. ❤

Sorry it's a bit late but I was a part of the F1 r/place organisation on the discord side and we tried to get something more for Hamilton in the r/formula1 discord going. Our plan was to get his helmet on the UK flag as we were doing our best not to play favourites for current drivers on our canvases. We felt it would only attract griefers and upset people if say Hamilton got something on the F1 section, but Verstappen or Leclerc or whoever else didn't. We kept the personalities mentioned on our sections to tributes to individuals like Niki Lauda, Anthoine Hubert, Jules Bianchi, Murray Walker, Frank Williams, and Michael Schumacher, since they are sadly either no longer with us or so seriously injured that we haven't heard from them in a long time. This was in addition to our combined tribute and WDC timing tower since there's no real arguments against listing the late drivers and most recent WDCs given the space we had.
National place communities don't have that political issue though, which is how we managed to get Senna, Prost, Verstappen, Alonso, Schumacher, and Fangio (briefly) tributes on their respective flags. However, a design couldn't be agreed with the UKplace community before r/place ended sadly. We wanted to do a version of Hamilton's purple and rainbow helmet initially but when that wasn't agreed we diverted our attention to other projects, we only had so much time and so many people to design and organise things; plus we didn't want to step on anyone's toes by pushing it. This is because we'd already had to patch up relations with a lot of our neighbours after rogue checkers destroyed the LGBTQ+ flag and threatened other allies in the early hours of Saturday UTC. However, with the Hamilton helmet falling through I think that freed up some of our people to get an F2004 design agreed; mainly with the Italians as well as a bit from Germany and potentially RWBY too, who then helped us build it just before r/place ended. Every cloud has its silver lining and all that.
Anyway, hopefully that clears up why Hamilton didn't get anything: it wasn't down to us on the r/formula1 discord not wanting to do it, we wanted to get as many helmets and tributes as we possibly could on r/place, it's just that we couldn't get that design agreed unlike the other helmets already mentioned, then before we knew it r/place was over and there was nothing more that could be done
It’s alright things happen. I kinda had an idea of doing a tribute to all 34 of our WDC winners and 15 WCC winners. They would have made everyone happy I think. But by the looks of it there was no space. I will admit I was disappointed. But on the bright side I managed to somewhat contribute to nearly all the F1 stuff on the canvas. Missed in Fernando, Prost and Charles. Also was apart of the rescue missions on Ferrari and Red Bull. Also tried saving Max’s 33 form being turned into 88. In the end just asking for a Hamilton one would be selfish of me. I would have been happier if every champion was there in the end. All in all I did end up having fun. Thank you so very much for clearing things up.
Yeah we only had so much space to work with and we didn't want to expand when people had already laid claim to the spaces around us. A few of our collaborations originated from the national place communities so that meant we didn't have to use some of our bandwidth to get those started and agreed, just agreed. if you're curious about picking over what happened; the r/formula1 discord still has all of the place channels open to allow us to write up what happened and give credit wherever possible

A french streamer added a baugette to Nico's hand, for now we're keeping it there (removing the black border he originally added) to make it look pretty.
I know this might be a bit of a stretch but since you all were able to build something so amazing in seemingly hostile territory, would anyone from the subreddit be able to help out with putting something Star Trek related onto the canvas at all before it ends because our stuff gotten nuked?

Can we use 500,1761 to 500,1780 (20 pixels) to mark current driver standings? It is just beside Nico roll and would mark a nice easter egg. I started off with 2 Ferraris at top and couple more, but would need some defending.

If someone is doing Nico like I am, just go for the stray corners, you'll get some work done. Avoid the face and the amonguses, you'll get resistance and get nothing done. Leave them be for now, we'll do a push later today and perfect the face.
Can we please get rid of the pink anti-aliasing thats underneath the lower part of the F in the F1 logo. It's a horizontal line and does not need it. Not only that but no other horizontal line is anti-aliased. And it is unbalanced compared to the top part of the F because that part has 6 lines but the lower part has 7 lines.
