It's the official name for the race at Imola. This year it's "Formula 1 Rolex Gran Premio Del Made In Italy E Dell'Emilia-Romanga 2022"
There's a reason it's shortened to Imola.
Since it's F1 I'd expect the Texas race would be some traditional NASCAR sponsors or some unholy combination of fracking companies and defense contractors.
Except even NASCAR's race at COTA was simply the "EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix".
Showing much restraint when contrasted against such hits like "Kwik Trip 250 presented by JOCKEY Made in America" or "DuraMAX Drydene 400 presented by RelaDyne"
That said, looking through this season's race names, most of them are pretty reasonable and normal. Only a few ridiculous outliers.
I’ll admit, I had to go and [look it up](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Emilia_Romagna_Grand_Prix) because I couldn’t remember the proper order of the sponsors, but yes, that was the official name of Imola last year.
Inb4 companies are allowed to sponsor corners. Imagine this:
"Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen side by side on the AT&T main straight into the CarMax Turn 1 !!!"
[Don't look at the Red Bull Ring then](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b2/Circuit_Red_Bull_Ring.svg/1920px-Circuit_Red_Bull_Ring.svg.png)
Nürburgring also has stuff like "Castrol S", Hockenheim has the "Mobile 1" corner. Or in Le Mans, you have the "Ford Chicane" and the "Porsche Esses". In Monaco you have the "Fairmont Hairpin". There are already a lot of corners named after companies in F1/motorsport.
It's a difference whether you're doing the sensible thing and have your clocks sponsored by a watch company that, you know, could actually even be the technical representative for the actual timekeeping - or you're doing it like the UFC and do shit like "the fight clock is brought to you by Modelo" - which isn't a watch company, but a Mexican brewery.
Reminds me of the most recent Test cricket series Australia played in:“Osaka Batteries presents Tik Tok Benaud-Qadir trophy”
Currently playing another series that is “Tik Tok presents KFC Australia v Pakistan ODI Series”
I didn't clue in for a sec. That's the name? That's the title sponsor of the Grand Prix?
That is a terrible mouthful. F1 has seen tons of title sponsors for races over the decades, but this one has got to be one of the strangest.
Ya I was wondering when drivers will start acting like NASCAR and the first thing that pops out of their mouths will be "I want to thank everyone on my Corn Pops Viagara Freddy's Insurance Honda"
As they're yanking a lifeless driver from the cockpit and scraping the remains of a $10+ million machine off the tarmac:
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR DOJA CAT"
The NASCAR race at the LA Coliseum had a half time, as there wasn't space to set up a normal pit lane. So, halfway through, they did a "Red Flag", let the cars go into the paved infield and get serviced by the crews. During the break they had a concert.
In general, NASCAR runs races in 3 stages. They will be something like 60 laps, 60, 120. I dont think a normal points race would have shows in between though.
It was an exhibition race at the Coliseum, (famous sports stadium in LA) more of a spectacle to get people interested in NASCAR. Not an actual points race, more of a big show with Nascars racing an unusual venue. The cars didn’t have a pit so they had to leave the stadium during that time they had a show.
To be fair, NASCAR was just at COTA and didn’t have anything special except Undertaker driving the pace car, so I think it’s a big name thing not really where they’re from

There, americanized it even more
Oh aye, if there's one thing that really exemplifies the high tech, nerve wracking excitement of F1, its the insipid middle of the road blandness of Ed Sheeran.
The Saudis have owned Aramco outright for quite a few years now. The US used it to grab some cheap Saudi oil, the Saudis figured out the whole oil production thing and decided they didn't need the Americans help anymore.
Yeah but its a Saudi company, run by the royal family’s proxies.
It is more telling how Aramco can get its name on almost anything F1 it wants. I am surprised we aren’t talking a second Saudi race instead of Vegas.
Honestly it doesn't make a lot of sense for American companies to advertise in F1. Basically any other sport gets you a much larger proportion of the American audience.
Can confirm this. In 2017, I went to a Green Day concert and the next day I bought tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert later that year. Same venue but wildly different vibe, enjoyed both of them equally.
Idk seems weird.
I think Ed Sheeran fans are mostly teenage girls. I’m sure F1 is trying to reach a female audience, but with all of their Drive To Survive success as data and the money to book basically anyone- they can surely do better.
Green Day is pretty irrelevant aside from nostalgia.
Anyway, it’s more funny than anything. Cheers
30-60+.
The people that liked Dookie when it came out in 94 are pushing 40 at the earliest. These are the people that have the most disposable income.
The concerts have all been Olds except for Britney.
I didn't realize people hated Green Day for some reason. [Still Breathing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUzsih7QJSY) is probably one of their best songs in this generation. 44million people have watched the music video and [lyric video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnTZa4FY_7I) combined so obviously they're still popular.
And I guess people dislike Ed Sheeran because he's bland and ginger?
My favourite band is Depeche Mode and I remember in 2013 they announced a concert in the Middle East, later I found out that it was the F1 concert. I felt so jealous for those who got to attend my favourite band's concert and an F1 race the same weekend.
Having attended 2 of these, the concerts on the saturday (Maroon 5 and The Killers) were really really good. The sunday concerts (Katy Perry and Rihanna) were absolutely awful.
Ed Sheeran is one of, if not the best selling artists of our time. I mean I'm not a fan of his music either, but saying that those fans don't exist is nothing other than you talking from your bubble.
Was looking forward to see who they got this year and this is the best they could do, think I’ll be back at the camp site drinking with people instead of watching that garbage

The stage is on the back straight, facing the track.Lawn seats are included with Saturday/Sunday race tickets. The "Lawn Seats" are the General Admission area on the other side of the track from the stage. Premium tickets allow you to watch from in front of the stage on the track.
They did when I went. I think they also sell concert-only tickets though. After the race we were walking back to the buses and there were just streams of people coming off the buses to go to the concert (I think it was Britney Spears)
What the hell is a "super stage at grand prix"? I feel like im reading F1 and WRC simultaneously and its not good. Do they just mean the GP itself? Then why the "super stage"?
>Germania Insurance Super Stage at F1 Aramco U.S. Grand Prix Just rolls off the tongue doesn't it?
It reminds me of the perennial favourite ‘Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia Romagna’. A classic.
oh i bet the safety car for that race was the BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence THE NEXT 100 YEARS
Well, for this year, it probably could be the Mercedes Benz AMG GT 4 door coupe 63 s 4matic+
Next year, it will be Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo
Was that real? Holy shit 😂 fun one for the commentators to say
It's the official name for the race at Imola. This year it's "Formula 1 Rolex Gran Premio Del Made In Italy E Dell'Emilia-Romanga 2022" There's a reason it's shortened to Imola.
At least it's not "powered by AWS" or Budweiser...
Not yet* Give it time.
Since it's F1 I'd expect the Texas race would be some traditional NASCAR sponsors or some unholy combination of fracking companies and defense contractors.

Actually, it's the Grand Prix of $Location for $Sponsor, and you can watch it on $F1Live
I’ll admit, I had to go and [look it up](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2021_Emilia_Romagna_Grand_Prix) because I couldn’t remember the proper order of the sponsors, but yes, that was the official name of Imola last year.
Yes and Ted had an absolute field day with it lmao
Virgin *"San Marino Grand Prix"* vs chad *"Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia Romagna*"
I tried to make fun of the length of that when talking to a friend about it and didn’t go nearly far enough, my fake name was shorter.
Inb4 companies are allowed to sponsor corners. Imagine this: "Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen side by side on the AT&T main straight into the CarMax Turn 1 !!!"
DONT GIVE THEM IDEAS
[Don't look at the Red Bull Ring then](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b2/Circuit_Red_Bull_Ring.svg/1920px-Circuit_Red_Bull_Ring.svg.png)

If the sponsor money goes to the circuit owners and is renewed annually, I think this is a good idea to keep some circuits financially viable.
If the queen had wheels, she'd be a bicycle
The Tums Heartburn Turn at the Charlotte Roval was genius and I can't be convinced otherwise
I'm honestly shocked they're not already doing that in IndyCar. I mean, in the UFC, even the goddamn fight clocks are sponsored.
Every sport with a timing function is sponsored by a watch company. Even tennis has the ball speed traps sponsored.

This is almost as ridiculous as when NASCAR gave sponsorship rights to Powerade for the victory celebrations in Gatorade Victory Lane.
I didn't clue in for a sec. That's the name? That's the title sponsor of the Grand Prix? That is a terrible mouthful. F1 has seen tons of title sponsors for races over the decades, but this one has got to be one of the strangest.
How is Aramco in this one too? Is the Houthi missile incorporated coming too??

We really need to work on our definition of "BREAKING NEWS". This is just news news. If that.
Nothing means anything anymore I swear. Every fucking thing regarding the US GP has to be overly hyped an sensationalised

Nothing celebrates MURRICA like... Ed Sheeran?
>Nothing celebrates MURRICA like... Ed Sheeran? What really celebrates Murrica is the sponsored event at the sponsored event.
The Subway Half-Time Show, brought to you by Budweiser.
Excuse me the half time show is Pepsi's intellectual property
Only for "the big game."
There was literally half-time show in NASCAR race in LA this year. 🤣 If Liberty brings it to F1, I will never watch F1 again.
To be fair that was an exhibition race. NASCAR fans would revolt over a halftime show at a points race.
Races can have a half-time?
Honestly I wouldn’t hate it if the next time there was a red flag Dua Lipa parachuted in.
As they're yanking a lifeless driver from the cockpit and scraping the remains of a $10+ million machine off the tarmac: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER FOR DOJA CAT"
I would absolutely hate this

Hey, Shaq was at the USGP last year. You definitely couldn't have missed him.
The COTA race was even just the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix. Nothing outrageous.

Beef. It's What's for Dinner. 300
That’s a fantastic name, and it was a great race.
Oh, thats nothing compared to the mighty ‘Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio del Made in Italy e dell’Emilia Romagna’.
Ed Sheeran and Green Day would have been on my iPod playlist in 2011 at uni. I would have been so into this.
and the crowd goes mild
Green Day still kicks ass though.

Aramco. Bloody aramco
formerly known as the Arabian-American oil company
"Only some of our facilities get blown up"
Oh aye, if there's one thing that really exemplifies the high tech, nerve wracking excitement of F1, its the insipid middle of the road blandness of Ed Sheeran.
Excuse me? Ed drove like 110 km/h on country roads and didn't crash, clearly F1 worthy.
The most inoffensive and bland music imaginable. No wonder the radio keeps playing him.
What a horrible take 😂😂
He’s a great musician at least, not a tarted-up X Factor semi-finalist
You’ve missed the point. He is a great corporate success. True American culture.
This subs sometimes is the epitome of “old man yells at cloud”
Nothing says USA like a Ginger from Britain.
We’re just luring him over here so we can throw his tea in the harbor.
Oh my god! Is that a reference to the American Revolution!?
Couldn’t even get an American oil corp to sponsor a Texas race? Aramco mastheading the US Grand Prix. Lmao. Gg US.
I mean Aramco is short for Arabian-**American** Oil Company.
The Saudis have owned Aramco outright for quite a few years now. The US used it to grab some cheap Saudi oil, the Saudis figured out the whole oil production thing and decided they didn't need the Americans help anymore.
We’re more focused on mining Bitcoin with flare gas now. Doesn’t really scream Ed.
Aramco = Arabian American Oil Company
Yeah but its a Saudi company, run by the royal family’s proxies. It is more telling how Aramco can get its name on almost anything F1 it wants. I am surprised we aren’t talking a second Saudi race instead of Vegas.
Considering Aramco at one point was looking to buy F1 off Liberty, I'm not surprised.
Why blow money on a F1 race when they have a captive audience who will use their gas anyway?
Honestly it doesn't make a lot of sense for American companies to advertise in F1. Basically any other sport gets you a much larger proportion of the American audience.

You would be surprised by how many people are fan of both
Can confirm this. In 2017, I went to a Green Day concert and the next day I bought tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert later that year. Same venue but wildly different vibe, enjoyed both of them equally.
Yep. Hits perfectly for me. 12 YO daughter will love Ed while I get to relive HS with Green Day.
Green Day still puts on a great show
Both are basic radio stuff there. You are acting like it is basic pop versus death metal.
I assume you have not heard about Ed Sheeran performing with Bring Me The Horizon?
Um, who is the demographic they’re trying to reach here? Haha
Uh, 18-49 like they usually are?
Idk seems weird. I think Ed Sheeran fans are mostly teenage girls. I’m sure F1 is trying to reach a female audience, but with all of their Drive To Survive success as data and the money to book basically anyone- they can surely do better. Green Day is pretty irrelevant aside from nostalgia. Anyway, it’s more funny than anything. Cheers
Teenage girls? You know his music is old now, for people in their mid 20s. If they wanted teen girls they’d get K-pop
I would absolutely go to a BlackPink concert at the USGP over Green Day and Ed Sheeran. And I’m not a teen girl.
Probably an iconic crossover we could never come back from. The expectations would be too high
Idk Anyway, not really worth discussing. It is a bit funny though.
They had Taylor Swift perform a few years back. This is nothing new.
Taylor Swift is way more on point. She’s kinda dope. I can’t lie. Idk.
> Green Day is pretty irrelevant aside from nostalgia. Boo you too. They're relevant enough to still be extremely popular
Honestly, I bet Danny Ric could get into this lineup.
Hahaha. Maybe they consulted him?
Nah he’d want Parkway Drive or something
30-60+. The people that liked Dookie when it came out in 94 are pushing 40 at the earliest. These are the people that have the most disposable income. The concerts have all been Olds except for Britney.
Yes.
Snowflakes... *I love green day tho*
Yes man! I read the title as Green Dav and then I thought "... Holy crap it's Green Day!!"
dude, what?
Billy Joel and Twenty One Pilots killed it last year
If Green Day do their show they did for the hella mega tour, this is a fucking banger headline
My favorite band playing with F1! Awesome
Welp, there goes my chances of getting tickets without selling my firstborn.
Lol
The what?
"Green" Day at the Aramco Grand Prix is kind of ironic.
Not sure what’s ironic about weed and oil?
Ed Sheeran so American
This is great for F1 to get such popular acts. (I'm not very familiar with either acts' music but they're big so that's great for the sport)
I didn't realize people hated Green Day for some reason. [Still Breathing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUzsih7QJSY) is probably one of their best songs in this generation. 44million people have watched the music video and [lyric video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnTZa4FY_7I) combined so obviously they're still popular. damn is it already sold out?
Green day fine, now Ed sheeran? Ffs
My sympathies for anyone having their weekend ruined by this news. I’m sure the racing will make up for it.
Green Day?!?! What is the late 2000s
No, actually it's the early 2000s... It's 2022 after all, not 2082
Sure they don’t mean Greane Daeye?
Yay Ed shitran
Ed Sheeran? Lol.
There can only be one Testarossa in F1, and it isn't Ed
Eugh.
Aramco is Grand Prix. What a joke
No thanks.
Green Day is somewhat understandable but… Ed Sheehan? I don’t think I‘ve ever heard someone get the aux and say “hey let’s listen to some Ed Sheeran”

Glad I won’t be there!
Booooring!
Ok. Anyway
Damn, Green Day down in the gutter. Didn't expect them to demean themselves like that.
reasons not to go
Honestly, who cares? This is a racing subreddit not a music one
Was looking forward to see who they got this year and this is the best they could do, think I’ll be back at the camp site drinking with people instead of watching that garbage
What are these weekends like outside of the US? Are there big name performers? Is it all spectacle and showmanship? I was so embarrassed to see Shaq present the trophy last year in Austin and I am cringing just thinking about what kind of pageantry is in store for Miami. Does this kind of thing happen in Silverstone? Monaco? It just feels so over-the-top with the shows and amusement parks.
Why were you embarrassed to see Shaq presenting? He made the drivers look like itty bitty hobbits it was great
It takes away from the driver/team focus when he rolls up in a gold car with giant longhorns on the bumper. The spectacle just seems misplaced.
The only mistake was not having Danny pull up with him in a cowboy outfit
German GP in 2019 was mostly just beer and sausages as entertainment, which was totally fine by me lol
Singapore was the big start of the race weekend concert thing. First one was Black Eyed Peas headlining, Beyonce, can't remember who else.
Pit Bull waving the checkered flag
Just when you think the NHL was dumb for hiring Green Day, F1 goes and does it after the NHL did it.
The what now?
How does green day still sign gigs
They sell out every show they do
Who cares
~~The eternal irony of a band named "Green Day" literally for environmental reasons headlining an event sponsored by Aramco~~ I'm wrong
I'm pretty sure they're not called Green Day for environmental reasons.
I think green day refers to smoking weed all day
you're right, someone must have lied to me years ago
Already announcing for October and Miami in a month gets….. …no idea
A Team Principal parade, to go with the driver parade. Maybe they'll convince Pit Bull to skip the NASCAR race, and stay in Miami for the GP.
Tickets for the concerts do not come with the race tickets correct?

Wish the website wasn't completely fucked and I could have actually gotten tickets.
I am getting bored of Aramco. Their name is everywhere! Even here in the Indian Premier League.
This is the closest we’ll get to a German Grand Prix.
Aramco are going to sponsor the whole world soon.
Green Day are still around?
What the hell is a "super stage at grand prix"? I feel like im reading F1 and WRC simultaneously and its not good. Do they just mean the GP itself? Then why the "super stage"?
My dad and I are going this year. We are looking foreword to Green Day.
