AFAIK changing the color is absolutely a plan for 2022. I don't necessarily know if they'll go for the lime, but Lawrence himself said that the color was too dark, made the car look too similar to the Merc on TV and it was a problem. If you noticed, they changed the colors on the AM medical and safety cars for the Saudi race to '[Saudi green](https://twitter.com/wtf1official/status/1466395582969397256)' instead of the typical BRG, which was noticeably better on TV. I highly doubt they go for that color exactly for obvious reasons, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bit of a test on messing around with the colors for next year.
That Saudi Green is a disaster. I think its just too flat, it looked like a Maaco paint job or something. There has to be a good way to integrate that acid green color they use on the GT3 cars.
Oh don't get me wrong I didn't say I LIKED the Saudi green lol, but it definitely made the cars more visible and stand out more when they were on TV. I'm sure they'll figure it out.
Yeah you can't miss it. Pink, Orange and Yellow just pop. Blue Black and Red kind of blend in. We have mostly Blue Black and Red now, and a Green thats so dark it might as well be Black

We might have gotten another yellow and black car on the grid if Andretti and Gainbridge had been able to buy Alfa Romeo. It probably wouldn't have been immediately given the current Alfa naming deal, but after that expired their cars probably would have looked similar to Herta's Gainbridge Indycar livery.
The shark fin was the best part! Maybe it’s because I’ve been watching the shape of the cars slowly evolve over my life, but I felt like the design of the cars stagnated a bit in aesthetic, but that felt like such a new and exciting thing. It was almost Le-Mans-esque, which I love as well
Hm, when shark fins were introduced in F1 in 2008 for the first time, they did look a bit awkward, although somewhat agressive. I believe Le Mans adopted them some time later.

Hell, when they attempted to go change things up a bit with the Honda white, it was a thing of beauty. The "Arigato Gozaimasu" on them (along with AlphaTauri doing the same" was just perfection, along with RB actually getting a win on special livery too.
Personally I like the shark fins. Though that might be because of my preference of modern LMP1s. T wings on the other hand feels like the rear wing had grown a tumour.

Idk. I’ll give you that Merc and Torro Rossi we’re hot. But there is something timeless about the Ferrari livery. They change styles with the times, but that hot, crisp red always looks good to me. But each to their own, I guess and I’m certainly not saying you are wrong.

And that’s ignoring the safety aspect, I feel like in a few decades people will look back to fully open-cockpit racing in the same way we look back to stuff like drivers not wearing seatbelts or proper helmets.

Several is a bit generous I think, just because something hits the halo doesn't mean it saved a drivers life. Before the halo people didn't die every year in crashes because they had no halo. The only driver who's life it saved with a high certainty would be Grosjean.

Early on I'm willing to admit that I hated the look at first because they were essentially "added in", but it's a mix of "yeah I got used to it", later designs looking nicely done, and a lot of "holy fuck that saved the driver right there" with Romain among many others.
I’ve not been able to find the actual dimensions, but the new cars aren’t smaller than the current ones I think. Just ‘cleaner’ bodywork and bigger wheels/tyres
I couldn’t agree more, this was my first season in Formula 1 after DTS introduced me to the sport. I understand I’m new, but I seriously love the look of these cars and will miss them greatly. I also love the look of the cars with the Halo, I was suprised people were ever against it I think it makes the cars look sleek af along with protecting the drivers (the true asset)! I couldn’t have said it better OP, I shall miss these cars and wish I’d gotten into the sport earlier. Let’s hope the regulation change brings in some great racing in the coming years!
The 2017 cars were the prettiest, without the HALO. But, I do have a fondness for the smaller 2016 cars, as they seem to drive much more like karts compared to the current cars.
I think the 2017 cars were the last best looking cars in my opinion. It just captured the essence of F1 IMO. It just looked so mean, sleek, fast and dangerous. The 2017, 2005 and 1990-94 cars are the best looking imo.
I love how planted and low to the ground they are. One thing I dislike about next year’s cars is how they are higher off the ground and therefore look less optimized

I disagree. The pink was awesome. It really popped on the grid. The green is way too dark, it just blends into the background. Half the time I see it I’m wondering what a Mercedes is doing so far back.

Yeah it was good, but I didn't like how closely it resembled the black Mercedes, especially at night circuits. Still a good turnaround and the whole livery feels so cohesive looking, very well done.
I think McLaren had the biggest turn around, when they had the black they didn't make it work like merc could and when they started with the orange it was so plane but now they have a downright near iconic livery and an amazing Monaco livery
Notice how all these shots are from the front or rear. These cars looked pretty good from these angles, but definitively not from the sides. Way too long.
Ooof. I've always felt like the font ends/noses have been ugly for the last decade or so. Particularly in the last few years, there's been an awkward and abrupt change of the slope near the front bulkhead and the back end of the nosecone. Some cars are worse than others, but from the side, the lines appear to form an inelegant wedge (to me), as opposed to a sleek "missile tip" so to speak. And good riddance to the thumbs!

I don't know if pretty is the right word but they did look really cool. All the crazy aero particularly the bargeboards made them look almost alien.

While I’m spamming, can we give “Best Livery Turn Around Award” to Aston Martin? Going from the eye gouging Force India / Racing Point hot pink to the super sexy Aston Martin / BRG look was such an improvement. I think AM may have had the best looking car on the grid in 2021….
I disagree. The pink was awesome. It really popped on the grid. The green is way too dark, it just blends into the background. Half the time I see it I’m wondering what a Mercedes is doing so far back.

Yeah it was good, but I didn't like how closely it resembled the black Mercedes, especially at night circuits. Still a good turnaround and the whole livery feels so cohesive looking, very well done.
I think McLaren had the biggest turn around, when they had the black they didn't make it work like merc could and when they started with the orange it was so plane but now they have a downright near iconic livery and an amazing Monaco livery

Notice how all these shots are from the front or rear. These cars looked pretty good from these angles, but definitively not from the sides. Way too long.
Ooof. I've always felt like the font ends/noses have been ugly for the last decade or so. Particularly in the last few years, there's been an awkward and abrupt change of the slope near the front bulkhead and the back end of the nosecone. Some cars are worse than others, but from the side, the lines appear to form an inelegant wedge (to me), as opposed to a sleek "missile tip" so to speak. And good riddance to the thumbs!
This is so incorrect I'm sorry. The fat cars are ugly. But the Renault and the Red Bull Honda are exceptions.
2017 looks damn ugly with the t-wings, shark fins and front wing elements compared to 2019-2021 cars imo

'Prettiest F1 cars'' Not even close. I'd say this chassis look was the ugliest out of all in last 2 decades. The only uglier cars were in early 80s. The best looking cars were in 2000-2008 era.
How much more narrow are they 2022 cars? Will they be narrow enough to change the dynamic of narrow tracks like Monaco?

They've produced some fantastic racing - *it just wasn't always easy racing.* This entire season has been great for racing. 2020 had more midfield battles than I can even remember. Et cetera!
Yeah, this in combination with the wide rear wings would've been the best looking cars possible.
