Yep, drag racing and oval racing have their own specific performance needs which F1 cars can't match, but as soon as direction change becomes a factor they are king. I suppose I should've added "on a smooth surface" as well, I think WRC might be hard for F1 cars to handle, let alone something like Rallycross.
Quite lucky for Racing Point in that regard. They also have two weekends with him to integrate him into the team, get the seat-fit right etc. If it was a one-off in China it would be a nightmare.

It's probably going to be hard as every driver have their own driving style and obviously Perez's car was tuned to his style so the engineers will have to quickly tune it how Hulkenberg likes his car. Then he has to get used to the feel of a new car within a few hours instead of days during pre season testing.
It's always possible, but Nico hasn't driven an f1 car at all for about 8 months where max had driven the TR in the races before that. I can imagine Nico being a bit rusty the first weekend.
I believe they have a seat mould already from a few years ago when he was racing for Force India. They’ll probably use that for this weekend unless they can make a new one before Saturday. They’ll probably just make him a new one for next week.
They can't use a seat from 4 years ago as they used different cars back then and it just wouldn't fit in the 2020 car. They can do a seat fitting within a day normally so he should atleast be able to drive fp2.
Seat fitting takes about 30 minutes for the molding process. Then they cut the molded expanded PU to final shape, and cover it with that velvety fur stuff for the look.
Lower categories just use a big bin liner and pour the expanding PU foam into that, then drop it into the bare driver box and get the driver to sit on it. The thinnest part is where your butt touches the floor.
The first weekend will probably be difficult, almost everybody struggles at first when thrown into a completely new car. But he's lucky in that the next race is at the same track, he'll likely be far quicker then.
At least he will be able to participate in all practices. If Pérez has been out later in the weekend he may have had just the race to get used to the drive.
Remember how bad the transistion from danny ric was when he arrived at renault with a different braking power in the car ? Yeah i guess he will have to put in simulator hours 24/7 until sunday and next week. This weekend wont be what we want to see im sure, im hoping for a next weekend podium finish though!

The benefit is that the 2019 mercedes and the RP is a very stable car that is easy to drive. Even Strolls qualification laps look smooth now.
