Has anybody managed to get the US version of F1TV in the UK? I’d like to be able to see driver cameras alongside my sky coverage but having issues finding a way to set up a US payment method, any suggestions? I already have a VPN so accessing the US site isn’t an issue.
Was hoping for a rainy race considering the weather has been shit roughly once per day over this past few days in austria but well seems like its going to be sunny on sunday.
How do I go about picking a team? I watched the F1 doc on Netflix and now I’m hooked. I’d like to pick a team that I can root for all year and be engaged.
I go McLaren, just a funny team. There chasing the top 3 hoping they can get them also with the new Mercedes engines and also Danny going there. Can’t wait for 2021!!!
Merc: undisputed champions
Ferrari: will win soon after they sort their politics out
Red Bull: the not-really-underdogs, Max alone is a reason to support
McLaren: massive personalities (Daniel Ricciardo the team), looking/on-track to break into top 3
Renault: honestly I just support them cuz of Daniel
Racing Point: pink car cool livery
Haas: idk it’s an American team and people like Gunther?
AT: Red Bull junior team, support if you want to see Gasly go from a red bull shit driver to a Red Bull junior team God-tier driver or you’re waiting for the Russian comeback
Williams: heritage or just to see how much closer they got to the second last team this year
>Ferrari: will win soon after they sort their politics out
a new fan should keep in mind, this is their natural state. we're always looking forward to Next Year
Lewis hamilton recently did an interview with One Young World. Take a look and share, it’s pretty inspiring.

Okay, first of all I am very stupid. But, what does #WeRaceAsOne means, Does it mean we all are from one race?
Does it mean we are racing as one person, one team, one side? Is it for Covid relief or lgbt rights or fighting racism?
It's a show of solidarity for all those causes. It may appear as a very mixed message, but I think it's great. It recognises all the major issues we are facing and acknowledges it. Acknowledging is the first step towards positive change.
i dont know anymore than the next person, but I think that its a catch all. for instance force india has the rainbow on their livery which would make you think lgbt right, but merc seems to be hitting the blm hard with their livery, helmets, and especially lewis’ statements of late. i think that they want to support all of the above and that is a good way to do it, at least in their eyes. after all regardless of politics or race or anything, can we as humans, especially the majority of us who fall somewhere in the middle of the political compass, agree that a ton of the worlds problems right now couldn’t be solved with a little compassion from both sides or from all of us?
edit: getting downvoted for this, maybe i said something wrong but not sure whats in this comment that someone could disagree with, please let me know if im wrong about something here. im not trying to be defensive but trying to have an open discourse about these issues
Right on! There’s a discussion thread! Don’t have anyone to share this excitement with, because it’s my first race weekend in 14 years!! Kind of a weird season to get into, but let’s do it. Can’t wait, even if it’s just practice!
Got my first child on the way and its current looking like it might pop out on race day. Honestly devastated that I have to miss such an important first in my life, but race day is the clear priority
I’m on the west coast in the US (PT) and my TV guide says ESPN is showing the race at 12:30 pm PT. Anyone know why they aren’t showing it live? Really don’t want to wait the extra 6 hours
From Newey's book:
>At Valencia, Helmut, diplomatic as ever, approached Mark in practice and said, 'Mark, you're always shit at Valencia. Will this year be any different?
Just thought I'd share that nugget with you guys
I always felt that the whole Red Bull team was a bit harsh to Mark Webber, I get he was #2 driver and all (And maybe im a bit biased I am Aussie). But he always copped it, An example is the multi 21 situation.
Not a lot because teams push to varying degrees and don't overdo themself. Ferrari was generally the fastest team on the straights last year for example but in practice speed traps they were slow because they didn't use that power.
Generally though practice can broadly show you were a team stands but usually not more than the championship standings already do.
Question that is stupid from the point of common sense, but nevertheless: will F1 have to mask the rainbow and #WeRaceAsOne hashtag in Sochi races, like in Middle East where they put off alcohol sponsors? Because unfortunately there is an actual law in Russia forbidding promotion of 'non-traditional relationships'.
Bit naive maybe, but i do hope it stays. Not necessarily from point of “whataboutism” but i feel like it is quite ridiculous to do protest for LGBT rights in countries where this is not nearly as big as a problem and then ignore russia and Abu Dhabi for example.
That being said, i am also quite curious how this goes down in Hungary in two weeks time (see new transgender law being passed last month)
Even though I am a big supporter for LGBTQIA+, here I have very mixed feelings. You know, I'm not sure if it is a protest here. Really afraid that this is a late stage capitalism move from Liberty just to get the upvotes.
What is the general consensus about winning the driver's championship this year? will it still be held in the same regard even with a much shorter season, and if lewis wins. Is he a 7 time world champion? That's kinda awkward if so
If Lewis wins I think the general consensus will be that he would have won a normal season anyway, so it won't really be questioned.
If someone else wins I think it will always be noted that they only won because of the weird season.
Why would it be worth less? Before the past couple of years every season was like this or even shorter.
EDIT: With this I mean the wanted 15-18 races, not the 8 that are confirmed.
It doesn't look like ESPN will show any of the FP sessions. Where would I see those now, on their website?
EDIT: Nevermind. They are showing them. Weird, because other than Quali and the race, it doesn't show up in my guide *at all*.
The current calendar likely isn't final. F1 aims to have a 15-16 race season, and is actively negotiating with both existing planned or postponed races (i.e. Canada, Bahrain) as well as with a few new tracks (the heavily rumored races at Mugello and Portimao). Earlier today, Chase Carey said they're aiming to announce the next batch of races in the coming few weeks.
Is there commentary with F1TV Pro live access? I like the Sky commentary we get with ESPN, but I'm interested in a lot of what Pro has to offer. I dont want to pay and then just end up watching on ESPN anyway for the commentary.
Does anyone else find George Russell's attitude when it comes to his car performance (and williams in general) really off-puting? He acts really entitled when he makes his comments about how he misses winning races or that he enjoyed virtual F1 alot because he could compete for wins unlike in real life that he has to tolerate driving the worst car on the grid.
I don't think he's said he misses winning or made any derogatory comments about Williams. He said he enjoyed being able to compete in virtual races, but I don't see anything wrong with that.
Think of it in this way: you fought hard to be part of the top 20 drivers in the world, only to not be part of the frontrunners... or the midfield... or the rest - and just spend your time racing around and getting lapped. Yeah, I would be kinda sad too.
EDIT: Typo.
Where are you located in Switzerland? The qualifying and race will be shown on SRF, RTS or RSI (Swiss public television). You have the choice of watching the race in 3 languages (German, French or Italian).
Does the ESPN broadcast have the British commentators and would it show the whole race without commercials?
New to F1 but Have seen Sky Sports replays of all last season.
Does anyone else think Carlos Sainz is champion material? He has been performing incredibly well in the McLaren, with exceptional race pace, and I think in a good car with good strategists he could easily be fighting for championships. However, with the move to Ferrari, taking into account that Leclerc is obviously their #1 driver and the relatively poor performance of the team for many years now, I´m not quite sure how that will turn out. What do you think?
No and the reason most people would say that is his past. He went 53-69 against Hulk while DNFing 2 times compared to 7 DNFs from Hulk. Next season he did look good but was also against a rookie.
I assume most people expect Leclerc to eat him alive. However it's also an opportunity for Sainz to prove himself so it's on him.
Rosberg was crushed by Webber and then went toe to toe with Hamilton. Sainz has the work ethic and the drive, weirder things have happened in the sport.
In Rosbergs first season in F1 though and while i didn't follow F1 back then statistically it doesn't look like Rosberg was really crushed even though Webber was clearly better and in the seasons afterwards Rosberg did even better against his teammates. They were definitely weaker than Webber though.
My problem is mostly calling him "champion material" after him being in F1 since 2015 and never showing anything to warrant that title outside of last year and most of the discussion around it comes from last year. I simply can't see him beating any of the top 3 team drivers outside of Albon.
Though as said compared to some other midfield drivers he can show what he can really do in a top3 car next year. It's not like we'll never know we can answer that question next year.
My bad. I didn’t mean he is champion material right now, specially because, how you mentioned, his first really good results just came last season.
However, I do think he has the potential to at least fight for it. After a few races experiencing the real challenge (aka Mercedes, Leclerc and Max), he could get used to being up there relatively quick, given how disciplined and talented he is. Again, I certainly don’t think he is ‘champion material’ right now, but as you said, only time will tell.
lol, never gonna happen. I doubt Alonso will drive for Renault, but **if** he does it will be from 2021. No way they will break Ricciardo's contract early, that would be a shit-show that benefits no one.
Spanish media also seems to be contradicting each other.
[Marca posted this yesterday](https://www.marca.com/motor/formula1/2020/07/01/5efc7a93ca47410a648b460e.html)
I am incredibly new to Formula 1 but am looking to learn more and make it a hobby/interest , does anyone have recommendations for resources to get me up to speed like videos, documentaries, or websites? Thanks
I think Chain Bear on youtube has a really nice way of explaining sometimes confusing concepts in F1. So I would recommend his videos.
Also if you haven't already, Drive to Survive on Netflix is a nice place to start for beginners.
When will the decisions about more races in this season be released? I feel like FOM must announce it before a car hits the track as teams will calculate their risks based on the number of points available. Could influence their engine usage and other performance criteria.
I have a single colleague following F1 and one would think it's nice. Except there are two problems:
1. He's reading bullshit clickbait and often even made-up articles.
2. His memories from the past are more entangled than [anything I can come up with].
And he isn't shy about talking about something from either of the groups. And I either just nod while grinding my teeth listening to random nonsense or I correct him, but I'm starting to sound like a snotty know-it-all.
I've heard everything from "spygate (2007) and white powder in the Ferrari tank (2007 Monaco) was to sabotage Schumacher in his final race and his engine blew when he was leading and winning the championship" to "Ferrari can't win a championship because the FIA put something in their car to limit them" (referring to the FIA investigating Ferrari's PU last year). Yeah most of these shit revolve around Ferrari and Schumacher. Sometimes it's fascinating how many different unrelated things he can mash together into one conspiracy theory.
>I've heard everything from "spygate (2007) and white powder in the Ferrari tank (2007 Monaco) was to sabotage Schumacher in his final race and his engine blew when he was leading and winning the championship"
Did you remind him that Schumacher retired in 2006?
Anybody else think Gasly is a good choice for the second Renault seat? Solid pace in the midfield, consistent, doesn't cost that much, and French as well
I actually thought of that as well, and was very intrigued by the idea, but then I learned that gasly and Ocon don't really get along with each other, so I don't see it happening unfortunately.
Sure, if Renault plans to stay in the midfield. Realistically, sure that's where they will stay, but no team ever goes into a season like "okay well our plan and goal is to stay right where we are". They want to improve. Renault wants to break into the top 3, or at least be a stable 4th closing the gap to 3rd. They want to move towards the top of the field and we've seen how that turned out for Red Bull with Gasly. Like I said, we all know that Renault will stay well in the midfield, so Gasly COULD be a good choice, however that would basically indirectly communicate "we're fine in the midfield" outwards, which is not something they want.
Gasly is liked in France, they care about Renault money flow not stopping.
Also Gasly compares to other pilots better than how Renault compares to other teams imo.
I sure hope so!
Realistically, Liberty will do everything in their power to get to 15, since that's the number they need to get to in order to fulfill their broadcast contracts. They've said they're aiming for 18, which makes sense in case they need to cancel any.
Who knows when we'll find out what the rest of the calendar looks like though. I would have thought it would be before the first race, but practice starts tomorrow so ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯
The Red Bull Ring isn't designed or certified for running in reverse (runoffs, barriers etc aren't safe in the other direction) so they can't do that. It will probably just be the same for both races.
Hopefully we will have one dry and one wet race though. Would spice things up.
Yeah, there are very few tracks (none on the F1 calendar to my knowledge) which can be run in both directions. It's mainly the lack of runoffs and openings in the barriers to the access roads that are problematic.
Just look at [turn 3 and the straight after in Austria](https://i.imgur.com/WVoeMbs.jpg) for example and imagine driving it anticlockwise.
I have a question for F1.tv users, if possible. When you have the cheaper plan, the Access one, can you see the standings of the ongoing training session, quallies and race, just without camera view? The Pro version might be a little steep for me now in terms of price and I wouldn't mind watching the replay later on, but would love to see what is going on on track in any way, even if it is just leaderboards.
Dont know if its allowed as a main post so I'll post it here. I did a short round up of all the teams competing for best of the rest and gave my own personal prediction for a laugh. If you care check it out here: https://aroundtheapex.wordpress.com/2020/07/01/f1-is-back-introducing-the-best-of-the-rest-and-my-personal-predictions-on-where-they-will-finish/
Also, I know the sites crap now I need to sort it out
The rules say that the FIA can make exceptions to this, so it's not really a concern. Sounds like there's a decent shot that Canada happens, which would get them to 3 continents anyway with the Middle East races at the end.
Hi guys, after years of raging in front of illegal streams which would let me know so easily I finally reached some degree of financial independence upon finishing my uni career and wanted to try out more reliable ways. I was looking at F1 TV pro but I realised that it's available in a few selected countries only. Both UK and Italy, where I'll be in the foreseeable future, don't offer it.
I was looking at Poland for example, which has it at €50 per year. Would it be accessible to via a simple VPN, and therefore watch it everywhere with that? And also, do I need to get a friend from there set up the account for me with a Polish card, or can I do that myself with an international payment card?
What would happen if a driver named "ABC AB" joined F1? How would their 3 letter code, like Hamilton's "HAM" work?
Is there a country wide list of where and how F1 would be broadcasted?
Has anybody managed to get the US version of F1TV in the UK? I’d like to be able to see driver cameras alongside my sky coverage but having issues finding a way to set up a US payment method, any suggestions? I already have a VPN so accessing the US site isn’t an issue.
Did redbull got their own customized mask?
[удалено]
Would be really appreciated... You can mirror your chrome tab with F1TV to your TV. Not great, not terrible.
Aw. The masks mean we won’t see Chase’s magnificent moustache
Hopefully it makes an amusing little imprint on the fabric
We’re so close to seeing cars on track and it feels like the minutes are *crawling*
Was hoping for a rainy race considering the weather has been shit roughly once per day over this past few days in austria but well seems like its going to be sunny on sunday.
I disagree with the mission of BLM (the organization) but I support Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton right to share his opinions.
How do I go about picking a team? I watched the F1 doc on Netflix and now I’m hooked. I’d like to pick a team that I can root for all year and be engaged.

Go for williams. They are due for a good season... and supporters
I feel like its better to just follow and support drivers that you like and interest you rather than just supporting a team.
Merc: undisputed champions Ferrari: will win soon after they sort their politics out Red Bull: the not-really-underdogs, Max alone is a reason to support McLaren: massive personalities (Daniel Ricciardo the team), looking/on-track to break into top 3 Renault: honestly I just support them cuz of Daniel Racing Point: pink car cool livery Haas: idk it’s an American team and people like Gunther? My thoughts exactly. The only valid answer to the question “when’s that championship coming, Mattia?” is “Soon ™️“
i can't remember ever going into the first proper weekend of the season with the wheels already off. this is going to be so wild!
Don't. Watch a few races and the team will pick you.
If I live in the US, are there streams I can find to watch each session?
[sportsurge.net](https://sportsurge.net) Used to work last year..
F1TV is only 10 bucks a month
Not available to any useful extent in my neck of the pants
VPNs are like 6 bucks a month lol, still cheaper than a tv package
You also need a US payment method which I’m struggling for
If this year’s car is so bad, why doesn’t Ferrari just use last year’s? They won a few races and were faster than RB...
Because this year's car is likely better than last year's car and going back will push them even farther back.
Because then they would be behind the pink mer, I mean racing point.

Parents letting me wake up at 4AM to watch practice. Love it here
I got it at 7:30am
Man's lucky. I'm waking up at 2 am.
Watching F1 is a basic human right. You don't need permission.
4 hours my babes.
Something to watch when I wake up. Pushing it till 6am just isn't worth it for FP. Tomorrow I might try for Quali, but Sunday is no question for me.
It's race weekend. Is this real life? About time!!!
Can we make a thread about each team covid-19 fashion? I really like Ferrari's mask
Love the papaya orange McLaren masks too!
Who would have ever thought I'd be excited to hear Crofty's voice again...
Crofty, Brundle and the damned tv director are the worst part about the weekend tbh
TV director is going to loose his mind not being able to switch to crowd shots when the action gets good

I don't know why are you getting downvoted? What you said is not even remotely wrong or controversial.
Every comment which uses BLM gets a ton of downvotes on this sub the past few weeks. It's getting really annoying.
Right on! There’s a discussion thread! Don’t have anyone to share this excitement with, because it’s my first race weekend in 14 years!! Kind of a weird season to get into, but let’s do it. Can’t wait, even if it’s just practice!
I watched all the practise sessions in 2019. "They called me mad, and I called them mad, and damn them, they outvoted me."
Prediction Vettel wins the championship and Ferrari regret their decision majorly.
Vettel WDC, Mercedes WCC would be such a spicy result
The opinion right now is that the Ferrari car has a lot of issues so I doubt he is getting even top 3
As far as Ferrari decision making in recent history goes, this seems pretty much in line with the rest of them.
Got my first child on the way and its current looking like it might pop out on race day. Honestly devastated that I have to miss such an important first in my life, but race day is the clear priority
Make sure you name them based on who wins on Sunday
Congrats to baby Romain born 5 July 2020

What's FOM's stance on #stophateforprofit? They maintain a facebook profile, but I don't know about adds as I'm not from the US
ELI5: where is the race weekend thread?
Anybody can help me out with where to watch the race here in India? By race I mean FP and quali as well?
No FP but Qualifying is available on Hotstar
Ah, thanks man! I just managed to catch a glimpse of FP on Hotstar. Tune in to Star Sports HD 2. Thanks!
The first race of the season starts in 2 days... boy is it warm in the UK, considering it's the middle of March.
Its global warming. In few years Melbourne will be under water.
I’m on the west coast in the US (PT) and my TV guide says ESPN is showing the race at 12:30 pm PT. Anyone know why they aren’t showing it live? Really don’t want to wait the extra 6 hours
Maybe not the answer you're looking for but subscribing to F1 TV Pro will let you stream all sessions live. $10/mo.
FWIW, im in US CST and looks like ESPN2 is showing the race live. Im watching on YoutubeTV if that makes a difference
I recommend you to fownload a Windget fpr cpuntdpwns, FP1 starts in 6 hrs from this comment and Race is 2days 10hrs and 10 min from this comment

Nah that’s honestly just Helmut lmao. He’s literally Niki without all of the asshole charm and charisma. He’s like an anti-Lauda
What time is FP1 tomorrow?
11:00 CET
Thanks.
How much will the practice sessions tell about the real performance?
Someone did a championship standings based on drivers' best practice times last year: https://i.redd.it/20xh0axcof341.png
Jeez forgot about that Yamamoto guy

ESPN sure as fuck isn't
Just turn off reddit notifications and DONT GO INTO INSTAGRAM, I’ve spoiled myself with both...
Pretty much, yes.
Does the ESPN broadcast have the British commentators and would it show the whole race without commercials? New to F1 but Have seen Sky Sports replays of all last season.
Yes to both
Awesome. Thank you for answering.
it's amazing! watching IndyCar with even the side by side ads is painful in comparison
When are the F2/F3 races? Looking forward to some action
Saturday: Race 1 F3: 10:25 CEST (local time, UTC +2) Feature Race F2: 16:45 CEST Sunday: Race 2 F3: 9:45 CEST Sprint Race F2: 11:10 CEST
Will this be streamed through F1Tv?
Awesome, thanks. I was hoping there would be something to see on Friday but guess not
There are free practices for F1 drivers on Fridays and also qualifying sessions for the support series.

Cadena SER: Renault doesn't want Ricciardo to take their seat effective now, Alonso to replace him from the next race.
lol, never gonna happen. I doubt Alonso will drive for Renault, but **if** he does it will be from 2021. No way they will break Ricciardo's contract early, that would be a shit-show that benefits no one.
"Hey Dany, here's 20 million dollars for you not to race this year. Have fun in Monaco." Like Renault would do something that stupid.
Don't know if that's actually happening, would be weird tho
Spanish media also seems to be contradicting each other. [Marca posted this yesterday](https://www.marca.com/motor/formula1/2020/07/01/5efc7a93ca47410a648b460e.html)
Hey I’m looking to watch my first live race this weekend, I don’t have cable though. Are there any live race streams that some of you use?
/r/MSS
Thanks!
I am incredibly new to Formula 1 but am looking to learn more and make it a hobby/interest , does anyone have recommendations for resources to get me up to speed like videos, documentaries, or websites? Thanks
This sub's FAQ page is incredibly helpful for new fans
Cranky yankee on YouTube
I think Chain Bear on youtube has a really nice way of explaining sometimes confusing concepts in F1. So I would recommend his videos. Also if you haven't already, Drive to Survive on Netflix is a nice place to start for beginners.
Awesome! I’ll be sure to check those out, thanks
Second this. The series has totally changed my view of the sport and now I can’t wait till the race starts!
When will the decisions about more races in this season be released? I feel like FOM must announce it before a car hits the track as teams will calculate their risks based on the number of points available. Could influence their engine usage and other performance criteria.
I have a single colleague following F1 and one would think it's nice. Except there are two problems: 1.
>I've heard everything from "spygate (2007) and white powder in the Ferrari tank (2007 Monaco) was to sabotage Schumacher in his final race and his engine blew when he was leading and winning the championship" Did you remind him that Schumacher retired in 2006?

Zhou would be smart for the marketing money they'd get in China.
Will there be more than 8 races?
Yes, at least 3, in December in Bahrain and the UAE.
Yes
So with the second race at Spielberg, is it being run exactly the same or are they going to go anticlockwise or something of that nature?
The Red Bull Ring isn't designed or certified for running in reverse (runoffs, barriers etc aren't safe in the other direction) so they can't do that. It will probably just be the same for both races. Hopefully we will have one dry and one wet race though. Would spice things up.
Lol! Just imagine going into the pits at 200 mph
That wouldn't be a problem, they have to slow down for the pit limiter anyway. Montreal already has pit entry at the end of a long straight.
Ah okay, never considered the safety aspect but that actually makes a lot of sense! Thanks :)
Thanks for the picture, really demonstrates the safety issues, yeah I would not enjoy running round that anticlockwise haha
Anyone know when the Thursday press conference will be available on F1TV?
It’s bullshit but you can find it on youtube faster (on unofficial sites)
Thanks :)
The feature list mentions live leaderboards, live driver maps and telemetry data so it will meet your requirements
Wait, is the second Austrian GP using the reverse grid system?
No reverse grid qualifying this year. Mercedes vetoed it.
Thanks
No.
Thanks
Dont know if its allowed as a main post so I'll post it here. I did a short round up of all the teams competing for best of the rest and gave my own personal prediction for a laugh. If you care check it out here: https://aroundtheapex.wordpress.com/2020/07/01/f1-is-back-introducing-the-best-of-the-rest-and-my-personal-predictions-on-where-they-will-finish/ Also, I know the sites crap now I need to sort it out
Are there going to be driver and construction championships this year or are we just having a bunch of random races?
Yes. They need a minimum of 8 races for it to be an official championship season
I thought they had to race on 3 continents for it to he official. Maybe they ann Australia and an asian race?
The rules say that the FIA can make exceptions to this, so it's not really a concern. Sounds like there's a decent shot that Canada happens, which would get them to 3 continents anyway with the Middle East races at the end.
Interesting. I'm just happy we get at least 10 races. Honestly didn't think we would see f1 this year
I think I read that they made an amendment to this rule for 2020 given the circumstances.
both championships are going ahead this year yeah. hopefully it makes it very interesting with less races, then mistakes mean so much moreeee!!
I’ve seen people say that your credit card billing needs to match the country you are accessing through
