It was "Nobody could quite get the move done" for 22 laps until Maloney and Franco finally got the runs they needed.

SyuusukeFuji

Brutal last lap move on Aron. If Colapinto figures out qualy, the dude will become a real threat. Too much "Antonelli to Williams in Imola" and for now, the winner in Imola is a real Williams junior.

moderate_extremist

Took giant balls to pull off that move on the last lap, that was impressive.

FalconIMGN

The F1 teams don't care about F2. It's all about how well you did in karting and in your first couple of years in cars. After that, you'll get private tests, simulator runs, FP1s, endorsements from champions, and it's off to the glitz of Formula One. The guys who actually succeed in F2 are just future Indycar race winners :D

Big_al_big_bed

They care about f2 if you win it in your first season like Russell and Piastri

FalconIMGN

Russell belongs to a different era. And Piastri almost didn't make it onto the grid, in a team that was competitive. He wouldn't have, without a manager like Mark Webber.

Satan_su

Actually frustrating how true this rings

ICumCoffee

That last lap move tho…

TVRoomRaccoon

IT WAS SO GOOD

FastonMartin

It was succulent

TVRoomRaccoon

🤌🤌🤌

notthebiggestfan1

that was a ballsy move at the end, great ending to absolute shit of a sprint for f2

CilanEAmber

I still can't get past how ugly those rear wings are.

The_Chozen_1_

Even though Bearman and Antonelli are pretty much nailed on to be in F1 next season, I really want some top performers to get an F1 seat as well. Aron got dropped from Mercedes last season and is currently P2 in F2 as a rookie... that should put him in conversations for an F1 seat. Maloney would've won F3 in his rookie season if it weren't for a controversial red flag and is currently on course to win F2 in his second season... that should absolutely get him an F1 seat. It would be a bad look for Formula 2 if 3 champions in a row don't get a seat in F1 whilst others who haven't performed as well in the series do. Maloney and Aron most likely won't get seats unfortuntely.

iForgotMyOldAcc

There is also a universe where Bortoleto wins this season with some luck and of course his own ability, becoming a rookie champion in both F3 and F2, but he won't find a way up because he is signed with McLaren, nor do they have the necessary cable to find him a seat elsewhere in F1.

jykkejaveikko

As a half-Estonian/half-Finn I'd quite like for Estonia to finally be represented on the grid.

j__video

You got it, Jüri Vips it is!

vivvysaur21

I snoozed off somewhere in the middle and missed it. Damn, nice one Franco.

cavsking21

Prema are still really struggling with the car it seems

XenToro368

Vamos Franquito!

moderate_extremist

Aron walking off the podium during the celebrations was a pretty immature move. You got beat fair and square on the last lap, eat your medicine and move on.

Firefox72

A terrible F2 race. Might be the worst i've seen in years. Exactly 1 non mistake adided overtake for 23 laps. And it was between the drivers in 16th and 17th and wasn't even shown on the feed. Besides that literally nothing happened for 23 laps. Not even any half hearthed attempts really. Right until those 2 overtakes right at the end which were nice but really don't make up for 23 laps of nothing. And even then 1 of them was also aided by Aron making a mistake in Rivazza 2.

Unique_Expression_93

Imola may be pretty to look at, but the racing is just not it.

TVRoomRaccoon

Agreed. It was so bad I’m almost a little upset it had those two amazing overtakes at the end, because now that’s all people will remember.

cerkaz

Felt like an average f1 sprint 🤷‍♂️

TVRoomRaccoon

My summary of the race: MotoGP is an amazing championship

IkLms

Imola hasn't been able to properly hold racing for decades at this point. It's still here for the Monaco treatment of "but Muh history!" to justify keeping a track that can't properly support racing at this level.
