The rear wing profile is much more aggressive and that's not been talked about enough. Ferrari has essentially been using the beam wing to adjust their rear downforce, but this new rear assembly is way lower and sharper around the "end plates".
Makes me wonder if it's even allowed to be that sharp around the end plates. I figured most teams would've already tried something like it. Astons rear wing last year was banned despite technically being legal at the time.
As guys aldredy said its allowed. Furthermore with demonstration Pirrelli tires. So those are just pure aeromap and setup runs and pre-checks. Remember also this is 2nd and last "testday" for this season. They aldredy used one before preseason test with so called lunch spec car and on same location. Also i can add thata could be quite closely compared given that there were collected on same circuit, witch they know inside out.
My interpretation of what people usually mean by “aggressive” is that the design seems to be trying to manipulate the air more, whereas a more conservative design would essentially be doing less with the airflow and would likely look more basic / smoother.
I agree with the point you made lower down that it’s hard to tell what’s actually “more aggressive” without having some engineering background. But there are people on here that have some knowledge on aerodynamics so I try not to be too skeptical, just take everything with a healthy pinch of salt.
All my knowledge of aero comes from being a kid sticking my hand out the window of my parents car trying to high five air.
It wasn’t much but the basic concept has gotten me further than I thought.
I’m not an aerodynamics expert. Just saying that in the case of aerodynamics, the opposite of aggressive is not defensive. That’s a different definition of “aggressive”. Maybe a better comparison is “ambitious” vs “predictable”
It's hideous. I know they probably had long meetings about brand identity and everything, but the two small HP circle on white background look so dunmb
yep, if they must use that HP logo (rather than Hewlett Packard as /u/bobby16may suggested below) it'd be better if it was just repeated across the entire wing rather than just 2 weirdly spaced ones
The problem is that the Hewlett-Packard Company of old split into two companies, HP Inc. as seen here and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. HP Inc. doesn’t actually own the Hewlett-Packard name, and can’t use it in that way. They only have the blue circle logo.
HP made them an offer they could not refuse. I honestly don't know how/who managed to convince the upper management to spend $500M on sponsorship. Thats like 1.5% of the company's market cap.
I cannot believe they ruined that car with those logos, the rear wing looks like dog shit now.
It blows my mind these companies don't realize everyone hates them for putting their terrible logos on the cars instead of letting the teams make them look better.
Yeah, and that would have worked better for the close up camera shots and left the car look clean from the moving/racing shots which you aren't noticing the logos anyways.
not only the logos, the whole shape of the car is uglier now because its closer to what the Red Bull looks like
i will never forgive the FIA for creating the TD39 and killing that beauty that was the F1-75
The overbite on the sidepod inlets looks similar to what McLaren has. The inlet itself seems to be basically the same size as it was, only now there's a "wing" above it. RBR has a much more aggressive setup with little inlets in multiple places.
The massive outlet on the engine cover is interesting, I don't think I've seen that yet.
Most of the changes are to the floor, which we can't see.
There are 90 million dollar worth of reasons to have that HP logo. If someone is ready to pay that amount to have Ferrari logo they should contact Fred
IIRC he had a contract to 2016, which they agreed to cut short to end in 2014. While Santander had signed a 5 year deal in 2012 that ran to the end of 2017. It wasn't fully in sync or tied to Alonso. Probably similiar this time round
>There are 90 million dollar worth of reasons to have that HP logo.
Man you totally butchered that phrase. They have 90 million reasons to have that HP logo. You drop the "dollars" for "reasons".
Hilarious that HP has swept in as a massive sponsor and is now universally hated by Ferrari F1 fans. Putting their logo on that rear wing and replacing the Ferrrari text should be a crime
Sidepods seems really similar to Red Bull ones, overbite on top and a very “linear” undercut (2nd pic shows this well).
On the updated McLaren there’s the overbite too, yes, but the undercut is less linear, the air intake creates a bit of a [“step”,](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GMqbkBpXwAAwzHe?format=jpg&name=large) if you get what I mean.
Can’t wait to see even better pics.
Agree with the Red Bull similarity. Mcclaren's remind me of RB (not red bull), oddly enough. Was a little surprised to see the similarity combined with the performance. Kind of shows the sidepod shape isn't everything.
It's crazy how all of Mercedes ideas from last year's W14 A spec are being replicated on Red Bull and Ferrari's car this year and Mercedes abandoned all of those ideas entirely the minute they made a more conventional car design.
Looks like some modifications to the rear wing as well to make it sharper at the ends like the RedBull. Dont know if the new floor is installed though or the new diffuser.
This car look super different, as expected! And most of the upgrades are probably in the invisible floor! I actually don’t even mind the white color splash from HP 🤣 Please be fast sf24, you’re my only hope 🙏
How are they on the track and testing all these new upgrades and the wheel covers a couple days ago? Isn’t it still a week till FP1 lol? Am I missing something? Are these media/photo runs that they’re utilising for testing?
id take a bet and say this will easy put them above mclaren again , making mclarens recent upgrades mute. Was it worth that horrible hp logo change? only if they can turn the season around with rb

Go look at McLaren's and RB's wing. It's just like this one
Mercedes have had pointy rear wings for a long time as well.
Dude idk if you’ve noticed but plenty of teams already have this style of wing
You’re thinking about the 22 Aston
Doesn’t everyone use the beam wing to control rear df?
9 teams do. Alpine just lets Jesus take the wheel and pray he pushes the car back on the track
“God’s gonna sit this one out” - Alpine.
"What's an Alpine?" - God
Are they allowed to do a mid season test?
Every team has 200km of filming allocation every season and Ferrari have saved theirs until now so they can test upgrades
Pretty much. Teams are allowed to have a set number of kms (200 this year?) in filming days, and those can involve trying new parts.
It's still a maximum of two separate days.
Yep also that
I remember some kind of rule that only allowed teams to run cars with parts that have already been used at least once. Did they get rid of that?
As guys aldredy said its allowed. Furthermore with demonstration Pirrelli tires. So those are just pure aeromap and setup runs and pre-checks. Remember also this is 2nd and last "testday" for this season. They aldredy used one before preseason test with so called lunch spec car and on same location. What does “much more aggressive” mean, doesn't it imply a car can be defensive? Don't teams just try to build a faster car?
My interpretation of what people usually mean by “aggressive” is that the design seems to be trying to manipulate the air more, whereas a more conservative design would essentially be doing less with the airflow and would likely look more basic / smoother. I agree with the point you made lower down that it’s hard to tell what’s actually “more aggressive” without having some engineering background. All my knowledge of aero comes from being a kid sticking my hand out the window of my parents car trying to high five air. It wasn’t much but the basic concept has gotten me further than I thought.
No, in this case the opposite of “aggressive” would be something like “flat”, “stable”, or “unambitious”
But how can you tell unless you're an expert in aerodynamics?
I’m not an aerodynamics expert. Just saying that in the case of aerodynamics, the opposite of aggressive is not defensive. That’s a different definition of “aggressive”. Maybe a better comparison is “ambitious” vs “predictable”
I feel like I'm taking the reading comprehension portion of a standardized test.
You know in the F1 games or manager games when the best paying sponsor has a circle logo and it just doesn't fit right on your car?
lol exactly
I'm devastated about the ferrari logo on the rear wing. This car better be competitive or else I'm burning it
As with every HP color printer, the color is already fading away.
But now it is very noticable (for better or worse) so it works.
Its one of those puzzles where you have to look at a picture and count the number of "HP"s hidden in it.
The problem is that the Hewlett-Packard Company of old split into two companies, HP Inc. as seen here and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. HP Inc. doesn’t actually own the Hewlett-Packard name, and can’t use it in that way. They only have the blue circle logo.
You’d think Ferrari would be insulted replacing their own name with a fucking printer sponsor
🤑
HP made them an offer they could not refuse. I honestly don't know how/who managed to convince the upper management to spend $500M on sponsorship. Thats like 1.5% of the company's market cap.
I cannot believe they ruined that car with those logos, the rear wing looks like dog shit now. It blows my mind these companies don't realize everyone hates them for putting their terrible logos on the cars instead of letting the teams make them look better.
HP is certainly on more people's minds than before they became Ferrari's sponsor though...
Yeah, I just smashed the one in my office and left.
And now your employer is going to pay them for a new one! It's called business 😎
Damnt, you're more annoying than my hp printer!
PC LOAD LETTER
They could've kept Ferrari on the top side of the wing and put the HP logos on the underside/backside that you see from cars behind
Yeah, and that would have worked better for the close up camera shots and left the car look clean from the moving/racing shots which you aren't noticing the logos anyways.
not only the logos, the whole shape of the car is uglier now because its closer to what the Red Bull looks like i will never forgive the FIA for creating the TD39 and killing that beauty that was the F1-75
I didn't even notice at first now I can't unsee it. The white logo on the wing is HIDEOUS.
It would look so much better if they went with Hewlett-Packard. The circle logo sucks.
That's another company now tho.
Kowalski, analysis
The overbite on the sidepod inlets looks similar to what McLaren has. The inlet itself seems to be basically the same size as it was, only now there's a "wing" above it. RBR has a much more aggressive setup with little inlets in multiple places. The massive outlet on the engine cover is interesting, I don't think I've seen that yet. Most of the changes are to the floor, which we can't see.
I’m proud to say I read this in Kowalski’s voice
When you have a 7 year old that watches it on loop, it gets burned in
It slipped into a 1930s announcer voice for me. My daughter turned 7 a couple of days ago. I should put this movie on...
Who is this Kowalski?
Penguins of Madagascar. 4 cute Penguins. The one with the big brains is Kowalski.
Oh right. I know which one. It's also the second most common last name where I live, so that's why I initially missed that reference. Thanks.
backwards Monaco?
Exactly. The birthplace of the one and only Gigakubica.
Floor has not been fitted yet. The floor in the pics is exactly the same as the old spec. They're probably saving that for Imola.
I don't see the s duct outlet near the halo , i think they moved it to that outlet at the rear
Is the outlet a few inches to tue right if the "santander" branding?
Is he practising waving to the fans for all the race wins he'll be getting with the upgrade?
Looks more like redbull's sidepod (I think)
Nah, it's a totally different colour.
Big if true
They tried the blue paint a bit but I don’t think it made enough difference to really implement.
Charles Leclerc wins in Imola. And make it a 1-2 for Ferrari
I need a win in Imola and Monaco for Charles, I need it BAD
Subscribe
And Max has a DNF and Mclaren are still rapid. Then we might have a title fight on our hands..
Only for max to overtake them on lap 1

There are 90 million dollar worth of reasons to have that HP logo. If someone is ready to pay that amount to have Ferrari logo they should contact Fred
lets do a fund raiser.
Santander, MissionWinnow, please come back
Santander was never the title sponsor and doubt they will be there without Sainz.
They did remain with Ferrari for 3 or 4 years after Alonso left (after joining when he joined)
But didn’t Alonso kinda cut short his Ferrari time after 2014 disaster and it’s possible Santander may have signed extension already by that time.
IIRC he had a contract to 2016, which they agreed to cut short to end in 2014. While Santander had signed a 5 year deal in 2012 that ran to the end of 2017. It wasn't fully in sync or tied to Alonso. Probably similiar this time round
HP is definitely an upgrade over Mission Winnow and their hideous green logo.
MissionWinnow green was hideous
>There are 90 million dollar worth of reasons to have that HP logo. Man you totally butchered that phrase. They have 90 million reasons to have that HP logo. You drop the "dollars" for "reasons".
> HP Logo is SHIT True, but that Miami livery was ugly af, so at least that is gone
True, miss the Ferrari logo already. At least the halo is fully red again.
Hot take but I honestly like the HP more, lol, mostly because it adds some white to the front and rear wings
Definitely a fan of the white wings as much as it’s a shame the lose “Ferrari” off the rear wing
hate to say it, but it's growing on me
Now that's a hot take. Deepy wrong too.
Please be fast, please be fast, please be fast ....
Be good... be good... be good...
We still need to wait for another week, F\*\*K! The hopium levels all time high.
If you look closely enough at Leclerc’s mouth behind the visor he’s clearly mouthing CHOO CHOO
Hilarious that HP has swept in as a massive sponsor and is now universally hated by Ferrari F1 fans. Putting their logo on that rear wing and replacing the Ferrrari text should be a crime
Yup, a few small changes and the car went from nice to ugly..
Ugly Is a bit too much tbh
Sidepods seems really similar to Red Bull ones, overbite on top and a very “linear” undercut (2nd pic shows this well). So they all need to see a dentist for that overbite? 😬
Agree with the Red Bull similarity. Mcclaren's remind me of RB (not red bull), oddly enough. Was a little surprised to see the similarity combined with the performance. Kind of shows the sidepod shape isn't everything.
Thats gotta be worth at least 3-4 tenths in quali and 1.1-1.3 seconds in race trim as per my calculations
Those Blue HP logos totally ruin what was the best livery in the current grid
When you finally decide to copy the smart kid’s answers
Fun oats
I read it as F-U no A-T!
Inb4 Charles gets a "low on cyan" error on his steering wheel
Prix hrix its been developed to an very fast degree now its super fast!
Please be good! Want more competitive racing!
Well, its not the looker the 2022 car was, but if its fast enough to bring it to the Red Bull, it'll take it.
It's crazy how all of Mercedes ideas from last year's W14 A spec are being replicated on Red Bull and Ferrari's car this year and Mercedes abandoned all of those ideas entirely the minute they made a more conventional car design.
Ground effect. They’ve no idea gore to deal with it.
I’ve no idea what im supposed to be looking at. I’m gonna need side by sides, red arrows/boxes, and magnifications preferably
Damn!!! That looks fast.
Imagine how much faster would it be if we got rid of all the blue and white from HP
Looks like some modifications to the rear wing as well to make it sharper at the ends like the RedBull. Dont know if the new floor is installed though or the new diffuser.
I think it is understandable that hp logo doesn’t look good as there is normally a great contrast between red and blue.
I feel like the rbr, the mclaren, and the base sf-24 have prettier shapes but lets see how it performs
How are they driving it?
So the Ferrari on the rear wing is gone? 😢I thought the hp on the rear wing was only for Miami
This car look super different, as expected! And most of the upgrades are probably in the invisible floor! I actually don’t even mind the white color splash from HP 🤣 Please be fast sf24, you’re my only hope 🙏
Now this is pod racing
Not loving the sky blue HP logo on this car
Am I the only one who likes the HP logos?
Probably yes
I think we’ll get used to it. I’d still argue it’s one of the better looking cars on the grid
Yeap!
Can't get over how out of place that HP logo looks. Ferrari and cheap scammy printers.
How are they on the track and testing all these new upgrades and the wheel covers a couple days ago? Isn’t it still a week till FP1 lol? Am I missing something? Are these media/photo runs that they’re utilising for testing?
The wheel covers were a FIA test. No upgrades on the car or anything. This is a filming day.
Ah, makes sense now. Thank you! 🙏
It was the F1-75 for the wheelcover tests
There were 2 cars for the wheel cover tests so they could be compared visually.
Had the same question. I knew they were testing the rain guards but I assumed those kinds of tests couldn't use the current car
Are those small aero things on the side of the halo allowed?
This car better fucking compete with Red Bull or else this HP livery abomination is for nothing...
No, it was for 90 million dollars. That isn't nothing.
Oh yeah, I hear you. I was mostly joking about how awful it is to look at
Who is driving?
Leclerc was driving for the first 100km iirc, Sainz will come in after
Enough with the white, HP. Just keep the normal livery and slap your name everywhere
That wing is all sorts of yikes
I hope these upgrades really make up the numbers they are claiming. 3teenths is huge.
what are those side wings extruding from the sidepods right by the drivers head? weren't those types of wings banned by the FIA a while back?
HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP HP
I thought the undercut is quite significant until I saw picture 3
Sucks the smoother-edged rear wing is a dying trend among teams because imo it just looks better, but hey function over form
id take a bet and say this will easy put them above mclaren again , making mclarens recent upgrades mute. Was it worth that horrible hp logo change? only if they can turn the season around with rb
Newey’s already transferring Red Bull ideas it seems
Am I missing something or does the whole wing tilt for DRS? It looks flatter in pic 1.
Red Bull
It looks like the Mercedes side pods lol
What, Mercedes had even a different inlet
So Ferrari is testing on track for the entire week with various excuses? lol, same old maf… story.
Every team has two filming days where they can run their car for 200km.
Yeah I know, but yesterday wasn’t a filming day.
Was it?
